  1. Re: Equipment stripping Iron Man's armor wouldn't have been a valid target for the original power in the first place. Neither would Thor's Hammer (unless it was hanging from a hook on his belt or something). "Cheesy" in the eye of the beholder. I'm good with making skills useful for something even in Superheroic games and it would cost a good amount of points to have a chance of reasonable chance of pulling off a limited and fairly easily evaded stunt plus it avoids the trap of making up complex power builds for every little thing. Skills can be circumvented with other Skills or role playing ("Oh, its the Picker. I secure my Zap Gun.") in my game so its a trick that'll probably work one all of once on any given character if its effects them at all.
  2. Re: Equipment stripping Maybe I'll just keep it simple and give the character an outrageous Slieght of Hand skill and adjucate on a casse by case basis.
  3. Re: Equipment stripping The suggestions looked interesting so far and the discussion as well. I think this ability occurs frequently and often enough to be written up and not handwaved as a plot device.
  4. The character is so fast they can remove unsecured or simple items from another character's posession in the blink of an eye. Things like belts, rings, holstered and sheathed weapons, etc are fair targets but not complex items like suits of armor or things with complex or secured clasps. Some types of clothing could be removed too. Basically anything that could be snatched off an unresisting person is fair game.
  5. Re: Mental Powers: Roll for Effect First No, they're not children but have been finding the way Hero System mental powers function to be frustrating. Using the Hit location analogy it was like if you rolled a normal attack and if it hit then rolled a hit location and applied the OCV modifier and if the adjusted roll wasn't high your attack did nothing. Edit: Hm an interesting but more drastic house rule might be to make the Intended Level of Effect a Mental Combat modifier...
  6. Re: Mental Powers: Roll for Effect First That was pretty much what I was going for. Some players were getting frustrated about how often their powers (most often Telepathy) weren't really useful or were shaken off almost immediately so the most effective action just was to go with a straight forward attack (like Ego Attack). I like the idea that trying to hide the attack still has to be declared first. It makes sense. I was also considering that any modifiers for Psychological Limitations and other situational modifers would be applied after effect was declared so the Mentalist could still overstep their level of control if they weren't careful. Thanks for that suggestion and the reply.
  7. What if you allow mentalists to roll their effect level first then decide on what they're trying to do? For instant a telepath succeeds in her attack roll and rolls enough to get into her targets surface thoughts. She can make decide what she's trying to find in their surface thoughts at that point instead of declaring before hand. If that's not enough she can try again (re roll effect level) if the target doesn't break out in the mean time.
  8. Re: ADVANCED PLAYER'S GUIDE II -- What Do *You* Want To See? Then Hero System can take its rightful place in the ever growing number of systems that do Exalted better than Storyteller.
  9. Re: Mind control question Men shall tremble before.. The Buffet Burgermeister! "When he says "All you can eat" he means all you CAN eat!"
  10. How specific do the commands issues by Mind Control have to be? For example, if I want to send someone out of the room can I issue a command like. "You're really hungry want a snack, Go get one." Or do I have to break it down further into: "You're feeling really hungry." (would that even be Mind Control?) "You want to go get a snack. Go." ?
  11. Re: WWYCD:Little Girl Lost Most of my characters would likely explain to her that she has family somewhere else, that she could have a big house and lots of things, but they wouldn't force her to leave. Maybe arrange a trip to visit for her family, or take her to visit them (with someone from her 'tribe' family to keep her company and show she has another family she might want to go back to).
  12. Re: WWYCD #124 or so:Peace on Earth Blanche generally tries to talk things out with her enemies in any case. Given they're stuck together for the day, she'd probably do what comes naturally to an angel-succubus. And probably have one less enemy by the end of the day. Or more, if she's a very lucky demon-girl.
  13. Re: Pyromamia (Possible Adonis Henchwoman) Looks good to me. It fits in with his group, too. And redeemable.
  14. Re: Have a Holly Jolly Security Breach Myriad lives in an apartment building full of fairy folk, with a magical world in the basement, married to a werewolf, with a baby spaceship. This is pretty much normal to her. Blanche would naturally assume Santa. Though she'd be a bit dissappointed he didn't stay around for Milk and Nookie. Free Spirit would be concerned, but given it all 'checks out', she'd probably have to assume a Christmas Miracle.
  15. Re: WWYCD: "He'll be back." Myriad would probably try to find a way to get some sort of peace between them, to make for a better future. With her experiences dealing with aliens, magic being, living machines, etc, she knows it can work.
