Obsession is a dangerous thing and people can take Love Never Dies to an extraordinary degree.
So that when Rudolf Geinser's wife died he could not accept it. And so saved her head  He put in an experimental preservative liquid and encased it in a robotic body. It's brain functions power the robot's data synapses. However people have tried to destroy it as an abomination. This has lead to the creation being termed X-Woman by a number of blogs, television programmes and websites.
The robot is immune to shutdown commands, most forms of disintegration, electrical and acid damage. It is also immune to heat and cold damage.
It can take an awful amount of punishment but can shutdown due to excessive stun damage. Mind powers have little or no effect.
The hands can tear through stone and metal if need be but can be delicate enough to type on a computer.
Rudolf has had to turn to the underworld to survive but he keeps his 'wife' close.

T.A.S.K. (Technically Augmented Super Killer) is the latest in the long line of military programs for the purpose in creating super soldiers. This particular project involved the blending of cutting edge cybernetics and nanotechnology. Amy Matthews was a former US army paratrooper who was facing a court martial for abandoning her post and going AWOL during a surprise attack on the base she was stationed in Guam by mercenaries led by Micronesia's most dangerous supervillain (the only one actually) Doctor Atoll. She had agreed to participate in the experiment in return for a full pardon.

Of course the army didn't mention that roughly 49% of her body would be totally replaced by cybernetic implants. Nor did they told her about the previous eighteen test subjects... Err... volunteers who died horribly when their bodies rejected said implants...

The AI in the nanites reacted badly to some of the components as predicted by the scientists. However instead of killing her, Amy's DNA somehow bonded with the nanites, giving her super strength and shapeshifting abilities.

Changing the last word of the project's acronym to Knight in a attempt to redeem herself, T.A.S.K. escaped from the laboratory and pursuing a life of doing good deeds...with the entire US Army on her tail.

In a world of danger and evil what is a red headed whip wielding dominatrix to do but fight crime ?
Kate O'Nine Tails is a cat lover and is into what is politely termed fetish gear. After being attacked and overcoming her attackers and then coming to the rescue of other people being attacked, Kate has gone full blown vigilante. She is dextrous enough to avoid being shot when closing with a target and her costume is a development of Kevlar which lead to more than one opponent shooting her at point blank range and then getting a vicious beating. Kate is a thrill seeker rather than someone dedicated to the law because.you know Mum and Dad were killed by a mugger in from of them.
Kate does not wear a mask as she was 'caught' by a news crew in action.

Hēi guǐ: Always quiet and introverted, Jennifer Cho dealt better with plants than people which suited her chosen field very well: biology professor in a small California university in botanical research department. She spent her days hidden deep in the labs and gardens, avoiding human contact and lost in her research, cataloging and notes blissfully unaware of the looks and occasional romantic overtures of her fellow faculty and even the occasional student as she was attractive young who's shy but amiable personality many found endearing.
Other than botany, Jennifer's only other passion was practicing a surprisingly aggressive form of Wing Chun Kung Fu. Her great grandmother had brought the style from China and it had been passed down, mother to daughter in her family since. She'd never used it in anger before and most would have to lean the quiet scientist could level people twice her size in short order using a combination of long honed martial arts and some down and dirty brawling learned her father Edward Mcgregor and others from his side of the family at his insistence; no daughter of his was going to campus full of dirty minded boys without being able to take care of herself. No trouble ever occurred but the practice and work out left Sabrina is very good shape.    During a quiet summer session, Jennifer accepted an assignment to follow up on some reports of an unusual species fungal mold that had been sent in by a local. This black, oily life form was unlike anything known being not only exceptional durable but, while it survived, seemingly mobile, able to move on it own. The sample had been contaminated by mishandling and died quickly but Jennifer was fascinated enough to leave her beloved labs to find more.    Her search took her into the mountain where she heard rumors of strange behavior among the local population: rashes of violence, impulsive behavior, hallucinations and even licentious behavior occurring in the area from people never known for it. Jennifer thought nothing of it as her search too deeper into the rural territory and into the wilderness where she ran across several animals acting strangely as well so began to grow concerned. Still she'd come too far to turn back and pressed on, soon finding what she was sought, a pool of he black inky fungal material growing in the bottom of what appeared to be an recent meteoric impact crater, presenting an exciting possibility.    Overcome with curiosity, Jennifer did one of the few impulsive acts in her life and immediately tried to climb down to gather sample. And the rock wall gave way, sending her tumbling her down into the churning organic soup. It enveloped her, sucked her down and as it closed over her head, it struck her that she hadn't had time to learn anything about its metabolism but was going to find out in the hardest way imaginable.    But it wasn't so bad.    The gelatinous material felt warm, comforting in a way. There was no pain even as she felt it seeping across her skin and into her body. She felt its need, its hunger and some strange alien intelligence. And with that connection came understanding. It wasn't from this world, but hadn't come accidentally. This world and its billions of sapient feeling minds had drawn it across the void of space seeking sustenance. It was a psionic being that fed on emotional energy specifically aggressive feelings. The fits the local were experiencing had been created by its attempts to feed, sending clouds of spores into the wind that acted as psychoactive drugs but in a random, uncontrolled manner in short intense bursts.    Jennifer sympathized with it. It hadn't wanted to cause trouble. Humans just weren't too compatible. She offered it another way. She would accept it as part of her, entering a symbiotic relationship where she'd indulge her own aggressive urges and allow it to draw in them willingly. Her own latent psionic power facilitated this quite well.     Jennifer Cho returned unsuccessful, reportedly never finding more of the strange lifeform. She also returned different. Her quiet demeanor remained but she more willing to emerge from her study. She spoke up for herself, met people's eyes and spoke up in conversations even started to dress to flatter her appearance and athletic build. Still charming and amiable, this new spark of extroversion made her even more appealing.    But this was nothing compared to her new nocturnal activities when her new alien partner sheathed her body in a black skintoght sheathe that protects her and provides a variety of abilities such as the power to cling to walls and form whips, tendrils or other appendages at will. In this form, Jennifer's inner nature truly emerges unfettered: impulsive, aggressive, eager and virtually fearless. If anyone that knew her before met her, they'd think her father's side had finally come out. And they wouldn't be that far from the truth.   As Hēi guǐ (black ghost), she acts as a vigilante and campus protector, defeating the rampaging Mold Man (see earlier in the thread) in her most public adventure and occasional party animal, feeding her alien partner very well.    And loving every minute of it.    Note: She is currently unaware of Mold Man's true identity.

Not all supervillains (and supervillainesses) are dark, brooding, tortured souls.  Some of them are just out to have fun.  One such supervillainess is Lash.

Sure, she's got a whip that can cut through hardened steel (at least, when she extends the monomolecular lash).  More often, she extends a thicker, electrified metallic lash that shocks most people senseless.  But she doesn't use her whip to slice and dice her opponents, or even cause them lasting harm.  Nor does she seek to do property damage, destroy companies, or any of a dozen truly hurtful things many bad guys and gals do.  She just likes to steal (always from wealthy people or highly successful businesses and banks who can afford to take the occasional loss), play her own unique brand of "tag" with superheroes, and (hopefully) flounce off to rob another day.

Her partner-in-crime is Play-Deaux, a tiny (fist-sized) amorphous alien she rescued from a Duchess Industries research lab.  Members of Play-Deaux's race are symbiotic creatures, contact mentalists able to latch onto a sentient being and either read its mind, alter its sensory inputs, or outright control it.  Play-Deaux is relatively young and still learning to use its powers.  It's also naive about the whole symbiote / host thing and tends to "ride up front" (e.g. on a host's forehead or hand) rather than hiding out of sight under clothing like many of its more careful brethren.

HellGate was originally known as François de Closet, a bored wealthy heir of an ancient french family. He tried it all twice, got even more blased and bored, till finally his wealth permitted him to get new acquaintance with very shaddy persons. They trained him into the occult arts, but he was not very good at it. They made him use his wealth in order to help their cult, as part of a new DEMONhame. But it was destroyed by a french cape, and François barely escaped. Although, in his flee, he grabbed what he could and looted on the corpse of the DEMON brother, a large brown cloak, that should have been an artefact, but that no one could activate.

The instant the cloak was on his shoulders, it went back to life. And it leeched all sanity François might still have, to replace it with it's own will. And granting him the dangerous powers of been a living portal to the Hells. Since then, the puppet that was once François de Closet obeys the whispers and whims of a thousand devilish voices. But what is the goal of the Hellgate ?

"People always think it is the cape" - the Demon Seer.

Trevor Sight had the gift of magic, but it seemed it was a useless one in his case: He had no real knack for spells, curses or anything else but self defense and utiltiy spells. The only part he was somewhat good was summoning and controling of extradimensional horros. Somewhat because while he was good at controlling and summoning them, he had issues targetting them with his minds eye for he suffered from a form of Face Blindness when it came to said extradimensional horrors. A really vexing combination of traits.

The solution turned out to be rather simple: The Seer glasses. These deceptively simple shades allow him to see into those extradimensional spaces without loosing sight of the real world and actually see the beings he is summoning. With those his extended training in summoning really kicked off. As he has to summon portal for the being on a "plane surface" and he likes to show off his control a bit, he tends to summon them on the inside of his cape. But that is not a actually requirement and even the ground or the enemies constume would do. As such many enemies have asumed it is the cape that maters, never going for the glasses that actually do mater.

Originally known as Master Phobia, Creature Feature has become his new name after Phobia was able to only summon forth monsters after reading a book called the Necro something or other. What he now summons forth are the things of nightmare and either causes people to curl up and scream or panic and run. Staying to fight can have the problem of being torn into shreds. Phobia is thought to be slowly going mad.

Horseman War: War. It has always been with us. From the first instinctive savagery over terrritory and hunting grounds to the complex geopolitical, religious and ideological driven conflicts across the modern world, the spectre of war has been a part of mankind from our beginning. And it has been always been there as well.

Myths speak of Four Horseman and as with many legends there is a kernel of truth to them. But they are not men, nor women or even human though they comprise a part of of us. Demons, angel, gods? Exactly what they are is a question for scholars of the occult and theology, but they appear as objects, in the case of War, a black skull faced horned helm. Its appearance has varied slightly over the millennia: from tribal masks to black eyed WW2 gas masks but it always seems to revert to this basic, terrifying form in the end. The helm of War appears amid conflict, in the thick of the most terrible and brutal slaughters where inevitable someone will find or is perhaps selected by it.

And they will be overwhelmed, subsumed into the cosmic entity: War, their thoughts and drives replaced by its alien will. The host's new appearance is in part drawn from its human psyche, taking the form of an ideal dark warrior, an icon of death, a cold comfort for most. For the most Horseman War will observe the conflict and stir it using its powers to augment and spread the rage and bloodlust beyond all norms, occasionally stepping in personally to deal with anything that threatens to dampen the conflict before the time it deems right. And it harvests, selecting the most brutal, implacable and skilled killers and drawing the life energy from their corpses when they fall (ensuring that happens personally if required) for some unknown purpose. Some think its to gather warriors for the Apocalypse, others that it is just a morbid collection of souls. No one is certain of anything beyond its like a dire purpose.

Horseman War's hosts gain a great deal of physical power and virtual invulnerability. It can summon any weapon it wishes and usually selects ones that are appropriate for the current battlefield. All of its weapons are supernaturally powerful and lethal to even the strongest superhumans. Regardless of the period, Horseman War's panoply will include a sword in some form. The host body is not susceptible to mortal issues like fatigue, hunger, thirst or mortal poisons and toxin including military grade biological and chemical weapons. War can exert a magical influence that creates, amplifies and directs emotions such as hatred, bloodlust and rage either in one person or across vast swaths of territory. Oddly, War doesn't like to simply create those drives from nothing preferring to work with already extant ones unless its hand is forced.

Horseman War's strangest ability is to summon/create the Black Standard, a gruesome tattered battle flag adorned with grisly trophies that exude a magical effect that unleashes that darkest urges in warriors inspiring acts of callous barbarism and all manner of brutality while granting those that indulge with nigh superhuman stamina and recuperative abilities ensuring epic levels of slaughter ensue for miles around as long as its grip holds. Creating the Standard takes some effort on Horseman War's part and destroying it can rob it of some potency for awhile as well as immediately freeing those under its influence.

Horseman War is shown here with its latest and longest lasting host: Carolyn Eves, a prize winning war correspondent who's seen dozen of conflicts around the globe and won several awards in her young career. Carolyn's boundless ambition and fearlessness are born from a morbid fascination with war, battle and death, a fascination that has forged a bond between her and Horseman War. She is the only known repeat host and welcomes it, savoring the experiences their bond allows her to share and revels in the power it grants her. While her fellow reporters would be horrified to learn the truth behind the luck that has allowed her to visit so many hot spots and emerged unscathed, their relationship is more a symbiosis than a possession.  Perhaps even more as the few that know of their bond have referred to Carolyn and Horseman War as lovers.

    The Rhinemaiden

Sometimes referred to as 'The Cleaner's Cleaner', The Rhinemaiden is feared by heroes and villains alike. When she is dispatched her orders are to sanitise the area which means in practice kill everything and everyone. Some believe that she is the Gestalt (if you are using this product) of relentlessness. She does not stop until she has completed her mission.regardless of the consequences. While she wears the helm, which has a skull and sports horns, it is safer but when she removes it all bets are off.
Witnesses claim she has been shot or stabbed but no marks or scars are ever seen on her skin. It should be noted that witnesses tend to 'disappear'. Some theorise that she is a weapon of the last resort. She has been disarmed beforehand and then unfortunately people find out just how good a hand to hand fighter is.
It has also been stated that The Rhinmaiden is a title and that when one dies another is activated.
Her weapons are not ordinary as they can punch through armour, forcewalls and forcefields leaving those who depend on them at an extreme disadvantage.

He can change to three different forms: man, wolf, and wolf-man. His mass is constant, so he’s a very large wolf. Not freakishly so, but still large. He heals quickly, is not affected my moonlight, and wounds from silver heal much more slowly than normal, though all injuries will heal without scar. As a wolf, his thoughts are much more instinct-driven, but his sense of hearing and smell are vastly sharper, and he’s a much faster runner. The wolf-man is about halfway between in both abstract reasoning and sensory acuity, and speech is a bit more difficult; he mostly uses it for intimidation. He can change just a part of himself, but it’s very difficult, requiring a great deal of concentration. Also, he can cast a few minor spells, mostly wards, especially against scrying so his apartment and office are very secure places as far as eavesdropping and extradimensional intrusions go.

She is called the White Widow.  She is rumoured to turn into a giant spider but no-one can recall ever seeing this happen. The four extra limbs seem to have little or no use but there is this certain something that people just can't put their minds to. When she dances they move but they don't seem to have any other purpose. The dances have a hypnotic effect on people. It is also during these dances that she seems to be invulnerable as she was peppered with machine gun fire to no noticeable effect. She works with others who have a hedonistic bent but is not seen to have any contact with any out and out criminals. Thus her status in the superpowered community is ambiguous.

    Weaver

Dolores Muwanga was born into a poor african village. Life was a hardship and one of the few sources of solace were the stories of hte village storyteller. In particular the ones that spoke of Ananasi and the Red Eye Amulett, that transformed a worthy person into Anansis Avatar.
Dolores wanted to help her village, but realities of Africa had eroded the bulk of moral concerns. When she set out to actually find it, she was set on using the powers it for thieving and other petty crimes to support her village. The travel was fraught with danger, but eventually she did found the Red Eye Amulett. And was immediately disapointed.

Maybe the stories were exagerated, based on how usefull and powerfull they had seemed in the pre-colonial time.
Maybe the stories were a trick from Anansi himself.
Or maybe her impure intentions lead to a different set being given to her then for a pure hearted person.
In any case, the powers were remotely usefull to becomming a supervillain or superthief: The extra arms she grew were able to secrete a sort of spider thread, but at a very slow pace and low volume - not usefull for sticking someone to a wall in a pinch. While she could weave nets out of it using more or less conventional means, they could be easily broken by superhuman strenght. While they had some sticking properties, they were not nearly enough to carry a person even if the weight was distributed over 6-8 apdendages.

However her attempts to weave them into anything usefull, resulted in a number of clothing pieces and thus revealed her true purpose: She became a Superhuman Costume Designer.
While not able to mass produce anything, she can weave rather fast using her 4 extra "arms" as assistance and a lot of practice. Clothing made by her is surprisingly resistant to being ripped. Also it has adherent properties allowing them to "stay in place" even when damaged and this adherence seemed to lack the discomfort or unreliability associated with the old model trick of using lots of double-sided tape.
A unexpected realisation after a the first superhuman tried to transform was that the clothing could copy "skin" powers as well: If worn by a brick, they were at least as resistant as said brick. If worn by a invisible person, they would become invisible as well. If the wearer turned their body into fire, they would not burn.

As such, Weaver is a well known Costume Designer und her label "Dreamweaver Clothing".
She can weave costumes that are "extremely outrageous without risking clothing malfunctions". Indeed she usually wears just such a costume to showcase how reliable it can be (one such design is shown above). She does advise her customer to take something a lot less "risque" into combat, as she can not guarantee the adherence of her material in a superhuman fight. Also she does not exactly come cheap, considering that she has to support her family and village. They do however come with privacy of the identity, in case that is wanted. A few choice pieces made for public ID superheroes and the odd Star resulted in her comming into the right circles to start lobbying for more development aid for the African Continent.

"I was a artificer once. A mage specialising in magical artifacts, bound magic. As artificer items are more powerfull in the hands of a artificer, it does happen that we get called into battle. I had a nemesis once, the necromancer only know as "Kael". We fought many times. Finally I beat him, deep in his cave lair. And then, I died. Not even from the cave collapsing, just simple exhaustion and over-exertion from our battle. Turns out that theory that magic and your lifeforce might be connected might be a solid one.

But that was not the end of me, as it should have been. Among the many items I carried, were a few partially finished ones. This little gem in my head was one of them: My Soulstone. As the name implies it saved my soul from going into the afterlife. If there is one. Before you ask: I do not know.
Now because it was a bit experimental, it took me some time to regain consciousnes after death. By that time, my original body had already decomposed.
Now pulling oneself together is never easy. But you would not believe how hard it is if the only material for a body you have is solid rock. It took me I do not know how long to modify enough rock to allow mobility, much less speech. So between being out and having to make myself a new body it was burried some time. Apparently enough that nobod even remembers my nation of origin, much less my nemesis Kael.

Of course, being a Necromancer he is back as well and wreaking havoc once more. Apparently some "be able to move while your mortal enemy does" kind of spell. I am not quite sure, Ritual Necromancy is not exactly my area of expertise. So we are fighting again.
And no, I am not going to die in hopes of that "defeating Kael once and for all". I do not trust a thing he says. And I would not bet a piece of lead against this being just a ruse in hopes I kill myself trying to defeat him. Again."

Sirianne Thunderstrike was a Artificer mage in a previous age of magic. Then she died. And came back with a body of granite, animated by magic flowing from the soulstone in her "head". Now animating a magically modified stone body is not easy. However her extensive knowlege in the creation of magical items allowed her to streamline the process. The downside is, that she can pretty much not create any new items or use any other form of magic anymore. Also moving the body can exert her magic ability, so she does still tire. So she is stuck with what little survived the cavein.

The Goldstaff of Janimakai is one of those items. It allows some basic magical effects, in particular blasts. And it acts as a very effective bludgeon.
Being bereft of her choosen profession - tinkering while creating magical items - but being in a age of technology, she picked up another craft altogether: Mechanic.
While the team vehicle she made seems to have a sliver of her magic and it and seems to perform slighly better with her at the helm, it is largely operating within the laws of non-magical, superhuman physics.

She simply goes by the name of Craft nowadays.

Tamra Bardsley got her engineering degree two years ago.  But no one was willing to give her the break she needed to work in her chosen field. "Its a Man's world" she kept hearing and that would grate on her bones...

Her father had managed to get her a job working in the mines but he was apprehensive, not sure how well she would be accepted among the crew.  She surprised them with her keen wit and willingness to do any of the dirty jobs, showing remarkable strength for the times it was needed and a clever use of leverage when that wasn't enough.

The mine collapse was another problem, she was stuck down at the bottom of the tunnel when it had given way, she and 4 other men were trapped.

Not giving into panic as the others were she took a deep breath and plunged further into the mine where light from her headlamp revealed a partially obscured gem.  She reached for it and upon touching it, her mind met that of an alien entity.  In fear she fought mind-to-mind thinking it was going to take over her thoughts and steal her body.

The entity was benign though and after some time convinced Tamra that it would help her/them to get out and away.  Tamra knew that they were doomed down here and so she accepted the offer for help.  The alien bid her to place the gem on her forehead and her body took on a metallic hue, her wrench was imbued with some type of Primordial power.  She used this power to tunnel out of the mine and to free both herself and her crew.  There was much rejoicing!

She decided to use her new found abilities to aid the causes of goodness and light.  Choosing the name Spelunker as her nom-de-guerre.

In her first battle with the villain Utility, he said "What kinda name is Spelunker??"  She replied, "Your going to a deep dark place..." Then knocked him out!
