  1. Dispel running is a vaild concept, but all it does is stop them from running until their next phase, when they can turn the running on again. And any momentum they had continues, it doesn't suck kinetic energy out of them. I know movement abilities are listed with characteristics on the sheet, but they aren't characteristics, they can be adjusted etc.
  2. Yeah it depends on how you view being an actor. Is it a job, or is it some special calling that you show how great an artiste you are?
  3. Didn't Rogue lose her Ms Marvel powers back to Carol? That might have knocked her binary powers loose, or something.
  4. When they built monks, they took a bunch of abilities away from other characters and gave them to the monk class. Did they do that with Demon Hunters this time, too?
  5. The simplest way is to establish a maximum amount of damage someone can possibly do, then put a limitation on it of "only does as much damage as the weapon" However, usually in Fantasy, the weapons have set damage and each one does what it does independent of the warrior. To put it another way, say the warrior picks up a hammer, and the weapons list says it does d6+1 ka (that's one die six +1 point of damage each roll of killing damage). That's how much it does when its used, the warrior doesn't need to buy a power to simulate it. He can pick it up and use it ilke you could, without paying points for it. He either has to steal it, have it given to him, discover it somewhere unowned, or buy it with money.
  6. Let us know how it turns out. I'm a lot more skimpy with Hero points (none to start off with, etc).
  7. I think they took Rogue's Captain Marvel powers away and they returned to Carol after a long delay, so maybe that caused her to lose the connection. I agree, and its a resumee enhancer to do a comic book movie at this point, its a genre you can show you do.
  8. AC and Hit Points was always an abstraction of combat instead of blow by blow, like a wargame. Hit Points in particular was described as being luck, dodging blows, etc as well as life force (didn't explain why it took so long to get back).
  9. I really liked the light-based Captain Marvel in the 80s, is she even around any longer? And what happened to the Binary powers?
  10. I can definitely see him in the role, although it will depend a ton on the writing.
  11. I'm not a big fan of Danvers either - she was only very interesting to me as Binary - but I wanted to offer some counter-snark to the voices above.
  12. Why didn't they cast a Chinese woman in the role to increase diversity and reach out to the Asian market? After all, its a movie version, it doesn't have to be like the comics, and only a picky jerk would care!
  13. You know what I'd like to see is instead of having Eidetic Memory as a skill or talent, add a "memory" sense modifier into the game, so you can build that into your character. Memory on sight = photographic recall. That makes it a bit more a toolkit than a specific ability. The Eidetic Memory talent could be a build based on that, maybe with an INT roll to remember specific details.
  14. I recommend various beasty books then. Almost all monster books can be turned into sci fi nasties, like my Jolrhos Bestiary. That Wyvern writeup can be turned into a ravenous Gzharth Beast of Mars!
  15. My concern with using Eidetic Memory is this from the description: Which seems to suggest its not exactly a recording so much as subjective memory, which isn't quite the same as a video and audio recording.
  16. The new sense modifier "Adjacent" is good for short range drones, they'll peek around corners, etc. Longer range you'd have to use Clairsentience with a bunch of multiples on movement to make it quick enough. Fuel charges for the batteries, if they run out. A weird dedicated vehicle works too, but here's a more on point question: how do you build a recorder in Hero? A video and audio recorder?
  17. Probably the same reason inanimate objects are destroyed by drains: they cannot recover. However, "official ruling" or not, I'd say its up to the GM based on the special effect.
  18. Lots of DEX, balance, bladed boots, acrobatics (flips and such), high speed movement on ice, which naturally they have provided for them by underlings
  19. Chagrak: Although not a tree, this desert bush has wood of such durability and hardness it is used for some tribes and cultures as a substitute for iron. The finished wood is grayish tan in color with streaks of white in it, and can be quite attractive. Chagrak is quite heavy, and require very hard stone and great strength and patience to carve and work. Since the bushes do not grow much larger than a man is tall, it cannot be used for something like a greataxe blade, but will function as iron for smaller structures like spearpoints, daggers, or maces. Although hard and heavy as iron, Chagrak has a base PD of only 5, but ED of 7. It also does not hold an edge as well, so edged weapons lose a damage class on an 11- chance per successful hit against any hard object (such as armor or a shield). Chagrak takes a -3 roll to work. Hey, desert dwelling beastmen and orc tribes need low tech alternatives.
  20. You don't even need to use optional rules. Just plain blocking, aborting phases (block, dodge), delaying phases, and extra time on some powers can make a big change in who goes when.
  21. A lot of these concepts sound like they could be simulated without any actual summoning going on. In other words: sending a message - Mind Link, Mind Scan, Telepathy, etc. Grab items: Telekinesis. To make them seem like summons, you could put extra time to start the power, add in gestures, and requires a skill roll ego roll to control the creature (every use/turn to simulate needing to control them for every new command).
  22. This looks valid, although suppressed powers come back soon as the power isn't on them any more, so its up to the GM what happens when someone is reduced below -0 Body; do they stay dead? Are they risen as Zombies? Are they just "mostly dead" and heal up?
  23. I think at least some of the time people find Hero too regimental and predictable is the result of people not taking advantage of all the depth of strategy possible in a Hero battle.
  24. Well you can set a drag anchor like a drogue (a sail formed into essentially a funnel) but mostly yeah; just drift with the tide and to a lesser extent wind. When you're in deep blue, there's no danger, and they kept watches for danger.
