  1. Have you tried Sci-Fi City near 50 and 436? They've been around forever and have a locator board up.
  2. That appears to have done the trick. Compound power with the second half being a limited power. Thanks Gnome and sentry0!
  3. Thanks Gnome. So make two separate powers? The RKA and then the Limited Power with the vine if it activates?
  4. So a limitation of an activation roll for the second half of the compound power then?
  5. So...I'm still trying to convert all of the Gamma World 4e creatures into Hero. I'm currently stuck on a power that seems like a compound power...but has a weird conditional requirement: "The porcupine plant attacks by firing 1 quill per available segment. Each quill causes 2d6 RKA and is coated with a destructive poison. A hit of 4 or above on the required to hit roll harpoons the target, lodging a barbed quill in the victim. The horl choo then retrieves its prey with a tough, thin vine which is attached to the base of the quill, dragging the character to itself with an effective strength of 15. Strong characters can resist the horl choo's pull and characters not entangled can try to sever the vine." I can make the compound power of the barb + the vine...but how do I add the condition of needing 4 or above on the required to hit roll? Thanks for any assistance anyone can provide!
  6. Wish I would have checked this board/feed prior to going. Played in the Champions Fantastic Four tournament run by Jon Cazares and Dan Wolf. Great time and great game! Didn't recall seeing any of the ones you described @Rapier but will definitely look for them next year. Note: This was my first GenCon and I intend to make it an annual tradition. Such a blast!
  7. Because they're very basic. Paramedic and survival to me are more advanced and the characters would need to pay for that next level upgrade.
  8. Probably still just me. 😜 I'm actually working on converting the rest of the creatures over and have a pretty fleshed out campaign. Just this weekend I converted over some of the scenarios to work within my own campaign. Note that I've based mine on 4e rules. I started my players with 200 points and 35 points of complications. Seems to have worked out nicely. There's a good mix and the HERO system is absolutely perfect for Gamma World scenarios/campaigns. Here's what I sent my players prior to starting: "Here are the important things to remember and create your characters by: - Be original! It's a radiated wasteland after all! - Make several characters; combat is lethal (that being said, I'll adjust if it's getting ridiculous) - 200 points to build with/35 points of complications NOTE: Ensure you flesh out your character! You may be a combat god...but if you don't know poison gas from swamp gas and/or you don't know how to find water...you're SOL - Learn the Cryptic Alliances! It may just save your life! http://gammaworld.wikia.com/wiki/Category:Cryptic_Alliance NOTE: You may belong to a Cryptic Alliance and it will come with positives (additional gear for example) and negatives (Hunted by members of other diametric alliances) - You may be Pure Strain Human, Engineered Human, Mutated Human, Mutated Animal, Mutated Plant, or Android NOTE: Your choice will only affect your character points if you choose the benefits associated with that choice (i.e.; Androids can choose to take "takes no stun") - Everyone starts with the following "Everyman/woman/plant/animal/thing" skills: - Climbing - Conversation - Language: Common - Language: <Yours> (If you play something other than Human; Wolf Howls if playing a mutated wolf for example - Knowledge Skill: <Starting City> (To be named later) - Knowledge Skill: <Cryptic Alliance> (If you belong to one) - Knowledge Skill: First Aid (Very basic) - Knowledge Skill: Firestarting (Very basic) - Professional Skill: <Pick Your Profession> - Transport Familiarity: Horse and Wagon for Humans NOTE: You must buy familiarities that you want (i.e.; polearms, modern firearms, laser weapons, tracked vehicles, etc.) - The campaign starts in a port city regardless of what your origin is; plan accordingly NOTE: the starting city has a fairly bustling trade industry based on commercial fishing; it also has a limited power source (in this case, natural gas); it is well defended; many cryptic alliances have set up recruiting centers; there is a great deal of political intrigue; the current "city council" consists of three major players It's up to you if you want to say that you're all graduates of the same school in the port city (the militia school for instance), or if you want to have individual starts. Let me know what you decide as a team. If you decide to start individually, then I'll schedule time with each of you towards the end of the year to walk you through your initial creation and how you came to be in the starting city. If there are any questions please feel free to let me know."
  9. So then I'm confused... Why would a list of powers (e.g.; Size Alteration) from the Champions Powers book be listed as .hdc files instead of the correct .hdp??? Note: I realize this is probably not your issue...I'm just venting.
  10. Interesting. For Rigel's backstory, he could work at the Pentagon since they ultimately handle all security review for classified programs (which is where I'm assuming you're going) from all department laboratories (ARL, AFRL NRL, DARPA, etc.) through the Office of the Secretary of Defense (OSD). DARPA does not maintain a presence at the Pentagon but they're not far away either. They do, however, have a military liaison group that sits on site so that's another possibility. Shoulder holster would still work. Remember that pilots wear them and have no issues while performing all manner of maneuvers. The only thing is that the weapon sticks out butt, or grip, first. So unless he's using one with a retention level to it, it can easily be stripped and used against him!
  11. So renaming the files should resolve the issue then?
  12. NOTE: I'm running Hero Designer 6, Build 20170504 So when I attempt to load certain prefabs from either the Champions Powers (CP HD) files or the Equipment Guide (HSEG HD) files, I run into an issue where I cannot see the actual .hdc files in a given sub directory. This has occurred in the following sub directories for the Powers files: - Size Alteration - Sleep and Dream - Solar and Celestial - Spirit Projection - Stretching - Telekinetic - Time - Vibration - Water - Weather This has occurred in the following sub directories for the Equipment Guide files: - Powered Armor This issue did not seem to occur with the last build and I deleted the directories and reinstalled the files from the Client Area of this page with the same results.
  13. Bigdamnhero discussed the Army...so I'll provide the Air Force version, although the military uses various pistols. Really depends on the role. For the Air Force, Security Forces (Security/Law Enforcement) carried the Beretta M-9. Office of Special Investigation agents generally carried the Sig 226. Special Forces generally carried whatever they wanted (HK, Glock, etc.). As Bigdamnhero mentioned above, it's also issued for pilots, crew served weapons, drivers, etc. Again, for Air Force, specifically Emergency Services Teams (think SWAT), we were issued a rifle and a pistol, plus shotguns that we carried on our backs for breaching. As also mentioned, the military previously issued the M-1911 (.45 semi auto), M-15 (.38 revolver), and the M-56 (.38 short barreled revolver). Holsters were a matter of preference and/or role. The Air Force would issue the Bianchi hip holsters and tactical holsters as well as shoulder holsters (again, role driven). Modern holsters tend to have some type of weapon retention factor built into them as shown here: https://gundigest.com/article/understanding-holster-retention Please note that there are all kinds of concealed holsters and they, again, come down to preference (inside the waistband vs. outside the waistband; appendix carry vs. lower back carry). Someone else already pointed out a couple of modern movies with realistic shooting stances. Again, it all depends on application. Are you shooting at a stationary target? A moving target? Are you moving? Are you AND the target moving? Do you have cover? What hand is your primary? Can you shoot off-hand? What firearm are you using? What range are you at? Send the grenade questions anytime you're ready.
  14. This is awesome! Keep up the great work Cassandra!
  15. So, using the Champions Complete Rulebook, under "Requires a Roll" is the option for "Character can choose between two rolls". Searching the forums, this seems to indicate that this is between two skill or characteristic rolls which doesn't seem to add up since the two skill rolls seemed based on the same characteristic. For example, choosing between Acrobatics and Breakfall for a Parkour power. Would this not be the same roll? Is this based on the various modifiers? I'm a bit confused...? Appreciate any input.
  16. Our campaign had this: The group were actually individual heroes who were asked to consult on an investigation...which quickly became a Quantum Leap scenario. We took the name Quantum Guard and work together in an attempt to return us all to our own timeline. Myself and one other hero actually have the complication, rivalry, and constantly bicker.
  17. NOTE: Using Champions Complete rulebook. Can a sense be made to function off of EGO vice INT? For instance, I have a mentalist who tracks people by their brain signature but I want to utilize EGO as the main stat. Do the rules allow for this (beyond a local GM ruling)?
  18. NOTE: I'm using the Champions Complete rulebook. The description under personal damage shield says that someone takes damage when they first come into contact with it. What does this mean for follow on contact? Specifically, if I martial grab someone and pull them into my damage shield, because I want to hold them against it so they continually take damage, do they? Is it damage during my segments? Is it damage during their segments? Do they only take that damage the initial time? Thanks in advance.
  19. I didn't find one either...so I made it up basically. If you read through my previous posts on this thread I talk about how I did the conversion.
  20. I would add a few things from my own experience: - Ask the player who is "super into" Hero to assist you when necessary (looking up rules, assisting other players, etc.) - Ask all players to take a half hour either the night before or directly before the session, to re-familiarize themselves with their characters abilities (costs, OCV/DCV changes, special rules, etc.) You have a great deal of time you have to invest regardless of how loose you actually play between developing the scenarios, antagonists, NPC's, maps, etc....the least your players can do is to know their portion of the game. This allows you to focus in other areas and not need to hand hold.
  21. UPDATE: I've slowly been working on converting all of the creatures over into Hero System rules if anyone wants me to start posting them... Didn't get very much feedback on the last round and would greatly appreciate some since I'm still a relative newbie to the rules.
  22. Accurate Sprayfire indicates a "flat -1" OCV penalty when autofiring against multiple targets. Typically you would have a -1 per 2m covered (essentially -1 per target if bunched together). So -5 if firing 5 shots across 10m on all roles (must role once for each target). Does this mean he could be firing across 10m at 5 targets with only a -1 OCV instead of a -5?
  23. How did you come up with your 'handle' (forum name)? I used to play the Age of Empires online with friends of mine back in '97 and I would routinely play the Babylonians and use Priests to great effect. Psillias was a name I came up with that sounded Babylonian (at least in my mind). The best part is that it had a double meaning: the P is silent so it actually sounds out as "silly-ass". What was the first tabletop RPG you played? Basic boxed set of Dungeons & Dragons circa '80ish What was the first tabletop RPG you GMed? Advanced Dungeons & Dragons. We had a neighborhood group that played pretty regularly and we all took turns GMing. What are you currently playing/GMing? Currently playing Champions but getting ready to take over for the existing GM and run a Gamma World game utilizing the Hero system.
