  1. Re: Superlion! More Silver Age madness CSI was bad enough, Thank You Very Much. Though admittedly, I can't say much about SLers, not being familiar with them. [rant] I can say that SL requires a top-of-the-line Gaming Rig that I'll never be able to afford. I tries running it a few times on my computer and all I got was an endless series of errors. Add to that the fact that they have a new update every 4-5 hours to improve the graphics and nothing else, it's just a huge headache for folks like me. But then, I'm a Furcadia player. I'll take 2d palette-swap graphics if it means I can play it without the computer constantly crashing. [/rant]
  2. Re: Genres HERO GAMES may want to avoid (intended to be humorous) Meet the Feebles HERO (20d6 major transform: Normal HERO gamer into Disturbed HERO gamer. NND (Fondness for gross-out humor). I'm not gonna bother with a cost on this power.)
  3. Re: Genre-crossover nightmares And when the Insult dog gets too annoying, Conan can try to take him out, sever a paw, and then the vulgar canine broods and studies Stygian sorcery, coming back as Triumph-Amon to seek vengence by summoning demons to kill the Cimmerian host. It'll launch a new era in Late Night Comedy! Or just be one good sketch. Or utterly suck.
  4. Re: Superlion! More Silver Age madness Pretty cool. Though about that last line, you mean it's cool now? Shucks, that means I'll have to quit the fandom... Just kidding. I ain't quitting even though it just means being troll fodder these days. I just never thought it was popular outside of geek circles, just mockable outside of geek circles.
  5. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xca2O07kS6c Just a furry having fun on Second Life with a funny song. The song: "Super Hero" by Stephan Linch If you can hear the lyrics, one gets a feeling this guy wants to join the Authority.
  6. Re: Genre-crossover nightmares The Late Show with Conan the Barbarian.
  7. Re: Random WTF moment... Reinard the Fox would just shrug it off. It's actually something of a moment of relative sanity. Sonic Eagle would be vexed by this. Did things suddenly turn into The Truman Show overnight? Kitsune has a Japanese mind, so she wouldn't be too phased. At least no-one was being molested by tentacles. Though this is a bit odd even for her. Lab Rat would try to contact the Masks. "Uhm, guys, it looks like something bad just happenned to physics. I might be a while investigating this." And then he would try to talk with the painter to see what's going on, at ther best opportunity available. Anubis, Alien Mystic of the Pesedjet star system, would certainly be curious about what was going on. This sort of thing is not supposed to happen.
  8. Re: Best Swords & Sorcery hero ever? Well, I have the Coming of Conan The Cimmerian and The Bloody Crown of Conan, collections of the original REH Conan stories. I am still working on those, personally. I will definitely have to call myself a Conan fan, but I am also curious about Elric, Fafhrd & the Grey Mouser, and other classic S&S heroes that are generally regarded as good.
  9. Re: Genre-crossover nightmares "1001 Arabian days of Sodom," by the Marquis De Sheherazade
  10. Re: Genres HERO GAMES may want to avoid (intended to be humorous) My brother was doing some research for horror writing and read 120 days of Sodom. He points out that even Byron Hall, author of FATAL would have found De Sade's work to be too extreme. And also, he noted that the Marquis De Sade would actually trump a lot of ero-guro in sickness.

  12. I recently began reasong the original Conan stories by Robert E. Howard thanks to an interest I had for some time in Sword & Sorcery fantasy. Now, as much as I like good, serious fiction, I also like humor, especially when writing or running a game. So here's my question: for a spoof of Sword & Sorcery fiction, what would you reccomend in terms of tropes and gags to play with? I am already familiar with things like Chainmail Bikinis and Barbarians As Dumb As A Sack Of Wet Mice. (And lo, the mice look at me and jump back in the river, feeling insulted.) I'm looking for other tropes and gags. Thank you for your time.
  13. Re: Teddy Tough Yep. I have the Revised edition of TMNT RPG as the current edition of After The Bomb. Personally, I prefer TMNT for setting and use ATB for extra options and boosted characters.
  14. Re: Silly idea: Sword & Source Code I wish first to state that, although nobody seems to have commented yet, that this is basically a Fantasy version of The Matrix. Well, if you're stuck in a VR simulation, you can't reproduce anyway, and while the VR simulator can provide good tasting nutrients in the form of virtual food, the kids would have to be AIs. The sustaining element is there basically to keep the player playing pretty much as long as their natural lifespan allows, a kind of ironic take on how lots of people allegedly gave up their real life social networks (among other things in their lives) for games like Everquest, World of Warcraft, and possibly the upcoming Age of Conan: Hyborean Adventures. Of course, there is still one thing I haven't considerred yet; how to deal with the need to go to the bathroom while still playing the game... An interesting possibility, but it kinda means thwere's no point to a revelation as the players would mostly be dead.
  15. (This might be Fantasy Hero or Star Hero) Take your typical Sword & Sorcery fantasy setting, like the Hyborean Age from the Conan stories or the Valdorean Age setting, and then apply the following twist, to be revealed late in the game: In the distant future, a virtual reality MMORPG hit the market, requiring special consoles in order to play. It proved to be a hit, with all the players getting to fill whatever role they wish in a world of fantasy. However, there was certainly something odd about this. It was a completely immersive experience. The food and drink tasted great and actually nourished those who imbibed it, you could even feel the cold bit of steel, and yet not die in reality (only in the game). In fact, folks could play the game for years without taking any breaks. And they did. And they still are. In truth, this game was sold as part of a scneme by aliens to take over the world. By getting everyone to play, humanity would be completely out of the way and the aliens (whom we shall call Valdorians for this example) conveniently took over, with none of the hassle of killing anyone. Once the PCs escape, they may find themselves using the skills of the game against the alien rulers and liberate their planet once and for all! Or they might pursue more personal goals... (Of course, the loss of magic might complicate matters for sorcerous players.)
  16. Re: CKC Dr. Destroyer pic Okay. Now I wanna see other chibi-champions characters... Because that's so cute-yet-creepy.
  17. [british accent]In the joking tradition of stupid world-changing situations like "A New Edition", we bring you this moronic scenerio![/british accent] I saw another thread called "Super Who" proposing a campaign based on Doctor Who. I had to throw in another alternative. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Things were normal once, but then these things begin to happen: * Everything said is in rhyme, even to rhyming other people's words. * The world gets a narrator, who must also speak in rhyme. * Devices and creatures receive utterly nonsensical names for apparently no reason. Also include improbable, surreal designs. * Drastic size differences among adults become perfectly normal. * Millenium City (or your campaign city) is suddenly renamed "Whoville." * A new Mega-class supervillain appears, calling himself The Grinch. In short, your world becomes a Doctor Seuss story. What, besides flipping over the gaming table and quitting, or beating up your GM, would your character do? (or, in short; WBFOTGT&QOBUYGMWYCD?)
  18. Re: Genres HERO GAMES may want to avoid (intended to be humorous) Numa Numa HERO Cho-Aniki HERO Zero HERO (a "narrativist" game about suddenly being free and being hunted down by your own kind because of it.)
  19. Re: What happens in Vegas... In my defense, when I wrote my character responses, I seem to have made much the same error as many other posters have; the assumption that CZ was supposed to be working with the group. I will not change my responsed on account of this error, as I have already posted and frankly, I don't need to re-write a whole bunch of responses.
  20. Re: What happens in Vegas... And it's perfectly in character for him to miss his own multi-entendres.
  21. Re: What happens in Vegas... Lab Rat would let an adult who better knows how to handle these things talk to Captain Zapper. Sonic Eagle would let the event of the foiled robbery go to the newspaper he works for, completely blowing off Captain Zapper's indiscretion. The lack of glory for Captain Zapper should get to him. Reinard the Fox would slip in, forcing himself under the door if neccesary, and then give Captain Zapper a reaming about responsibilities and how business, especially the business of stopping criminals, must come before pleasure. And then end it with, "By the way, we managed that ourselves without you, but you really need to get your priorities straight if you're going to be providing a service to your society." And while he is a person, he doesn't exactly get the concept of free time anyways. A job is a job and you have to do it. Of course, my original version of Reinard wouldn't pay it any mind. He wouldn't even be in Vegas unless there was a lead there and he wouldn't make any contact at all. Kitsune would enter spirit form, enter the room, and then possess the woman CZ was making out with. Then, as the leggy blonde, she would give CZ a reaming about shirking his duty to his allies, and the shame that comes with it. In her native society, Duty and shame were as good as a matters of life and death. Anubis would let it slide. The thugs got dealt with and the Casino was saved. As for the reasoning to be in Vegas: Lab Rat Would be there as part of a job the Milwaukee Masks have to deal with, and CZ would probably have offered the aid (thus setting up a responsibility). (This would probably be at a later time when the field goes past Milwaukee, WI.) Sonic Eagle would be in Las Vegas to get a story for the paper anyways. Win/win, as he sees it. Reinard the Fox Would probably be along with the rest of the team, fulfulling his team duties. Kitsune would also be fulfilling her duty to her team. And when the team calls on you to help, then it is your duty to help. Anubis would either be assigned to Los Vegas or the team he is with might be there. It depends on how it goes.

  23. Just a joke character originally made as a convert from TMNT by Palladium over to Champions. Background Some time ago, still during the Cold War, some American scientists were conducting a military-funded experiment. It was said to be done for the purpose of creating a super-soldier. The remaining details were hidden. These scientists took some rats for experimentation, figuring if they could use an animal as a super-soldier, this would be great. Then they started tampering and made a discovery; Bio Energy. The Premise of Bio Energy is that when you add a factor in one area, the creature's survival depended upon taking away another factor. It was a balancing act. They managed to master it in 1999 As rats were not really good soldier material, the scientists went out and captured a bear for experimentation. The Military did not know of this. However, they were able to modify the bear to their desires, the price being it had to be shrunk down to smaller than a child. Thus was the creation of Teddy Tough, a powerful, nearly invulnerable, bear-like super-soldier. This plan was rejected one the grounds of legality (and let's not forget that the bear has no common sense), but they kept the creature, donating him to a superteam in need of a strong-arm. Personality/Motivation Teddy Tough is somewhat bewildered about his new condition. He is a part of the military, as was his training. However, the Military keeps close tabs on him while denying their involvement in his creation. Personality wise, Teddy Tough is mostly a classic four-color hero with a simplistic veiw of things, not to mention all the brains of a newt (apologies to any newts who've just been insulted). As such, he is a simplistic individual simply looking to do some good. Quote "I know it's a trap, but there's nothing to do about that. So, FORWARD HO!!!!" (Yes, he is that stupid...) Powers/Tactics Teddy tough is basically a brick who marches in, takes hits, and hopefully hits harder. It's a simple life for him. Campaign Use Comic releif. 'Nuff Said. That, or a good story for a military cover-up. But mostly comic relief. Appearance Teddy Tough gets his name from his small size (Two feet and eight inches tall) and the fact that he's basically an anthropomorphic bear. (The scientists would have gone for a human appearance, but that would require further shrinking.) His cosume consists a Yellow spandex jumpsuit and a red domino mask, as designed by the military to make it seem like he's not from the military.
