  1. It's fairly bizarre, for me anyway, to see them standing shoulder to shoulder and smiling; she's pure status quo and he semi-successfully challenged that status quo.

Bernie takes deserved satisfaction in building a true progressive movement.  But as far as influencing the party platform?  I don't get it.  It's been compared to a New Year's resolution - nice to look at but completely non-binding and discarded as soon as it's convenient.  I can't for the life of me remember an instance in which a platform beat out political 'pragmatism', in either major party.

  2. Is there no chance of Clinton-Sanders? What stage is the actual nomination process at? I remember Bernie saying he'd support Hillary's candidacy if she won the Dem nomination: has he conceded?

Sanders hasn't formally conceded; of course Clinton won't formally be the nominee until the July convention when the delegates vote.  Bernie just released an op-ed:

It basically reiterates all his campaign's main priorities, and that he expects most/all of these to be present in the party platform.  Some folks are accusing him of being a sore loser; I think it shows a lot of integrity to continue the fight, and not immediately bargain away his grassroots support in some bid to increase his personal cachet of political power.

  3. I will back and look forward to this!  I don't think the Golden Age is as innocent as popular belief holds - the heroines were always drawn sexy, and quite a few of the heroes had no compunction disposing of hardened criminals, Punisher style.  The Code put an end to that, of course.

I actually think the post-war era might be a perfect campaign era, you could have Nazis in Argentina, the Red Menace, and flying saucers! (sounds a little like an Ed Wood movie).

  4. It seems to me Sanders is pivoting toward a long-term progressive movement, his stated goal all along, that can challenge the status quo.  Having weight at the convention and influencing the platform will help him accomplish this, thus I and many of his supporters believe it is in the long term interests of the country that the struggle continue.

I will say 2016 has made me realize how ignorant and uninformed I am about the primary process.  There are open contests, closed contests, semi-closed, caucuses, different requirements in each state, I got hopelessly muddled trying to figure it out.  If all the primaries had been truly open, without the sometimes onerous advance registration requirements, I think the popular vote would've been much closer.  Even LA Mayor Eric Garcetti (Clinton supporter and Superdelegate) was on NPR last night saying the process is confusing and in need of improvement.

  5. Sanders has more or less tacitly endorsed his rival, saying she has the intelligence and experience to be Prez and he will support the eventual nominee.  But he feels he owes it to the many millions who have supported him to keep fighting, and I think that's his decision alone.

Still of the opinion we need an actual Third Party if we're ever going to challenge the status quo.  As many have pointed out, getting such a thing on the ballot in all fifty states is next to impossible.

  6. It is hard to see Trump bringing in a big turn-out come November.  The establishment is disowning him.  Most women and minorities are offended by him.  Educated folks fear him.  The evangelical wing of the GOP has no connection to him.  Conservatives see him as a liberal.  But if every 'angry white male' in the nation votes for him. . . .?

  7. To me, Sanders remains the only authentic (as in consistent) candidate, so write in it is.  A perfectly legit decision.

The fact that he will likely not secure the nomination when he had near zero name recognition and was 60 points down a year ago isn't a surprise.  The fact that he made such a competitive run against a presumptive nominee is a sign of things to come.

  8. With Professor Odyssey, I kind of imagine an immortal manipulator in the vein of Vandal Savage.  Perhaps he was around during the time of Homer or earlier.  Perhaps he has set up a school to lure and exploit psionically active students; he needs to feed on their abilities, a psychic vampire of sorts, in order to maintain his longevity.  And there is no juicier prize than Caileigh!  But whatever works best for your Ocular Universe.

  9. In the Book thread,  I already mentioned a Guide to the Champions Multiverse.

I once propositioned Forgotten Organizations (updates of Raven, CLOWN, etc.  Go ahead and make CLOWN darker).

Heroic Teams.  The old Allies book was ok, but could definitely be improved upon and seems like such a product would fill a big gap that more villains wouldn't.  They could be used as player characters, competitors, allies, or in true comicdom tradition, temporary opponents due to a misunderstanding/manipulation by a master villain.
