  1. I just thought that I would see what ideas the community has. A mentalist wants to have a progressive Mind Scan power, one that builds over time to a firm lock. What would be the best way to do this? If you applied the cumulative advantage this would let the dice stack so that is simple enough. However, Mind Scan is already Constant in that the lock continues. How would you continue to apply dice of effect? Would you also apply the Constant Advantage to the power? Perhaps make it Damage over Time? Thoughts? Thank you,
  2. Hi Steve, I was hoping you could give me some clarification on how the following power (on pg. 330 of 6E1) would actually play out in game. Acid Mini-Grenade: RKA 1 point, Penetrating (x2; +1), Damage Over Time (6 damage increments, damage occurs every Segment, can be negated by washing off the acid; +4) (30 Active Points); OAF (-1), Range Based On STR (-1/4), 5 Charges (-3/4). Total cost: 10 points. How would a 1 point Killing Attack do any Penetrating? Since no dice are rolled and the result is assumed to be a 1, wouldn't the "Body of The Dice" be 0? I see on the description of Penetrating that it says it does 1 BODY but this seems to contrast what is said about 1/2d6 where it does 1 BODY only on a roll of 4, 5 or 6. Seems odd to me that for 5 Active Points you get an automatic 1 while for 10 Active Points you only get 1 fifty percent of the time. Thanks, Deadman
  3. Here are a couple of action shots that I did "just for fun" and some pics of the local biker kuttes and an HCPD badge. Ace letting loose and Hair-Trigger leaps into action Satanic Skulls and Forbidden Kuttes and HCPD Badge
  4. I have done both in the past. Codex, Barracuda and Badger from my Face to Face game were NPCs as was Tracer from the VTT game. Solo games are fun if the player is truly engaged but it is a lot of work as the GM. As for NPCs it becomes a chore to keep them both interesting yet ignorant of the larger picture. Either they end up too quiet and clueless or too vocal and knowledgeable. In the end I found that to attract players you have to run something that appeals to the masses and four color comic book heroes seems to do that now.
  5. Here are my PCs for the PBEM that started it all back in 2003. I ran threads for Talion and Ace but the campaign ended before I could get Hair-Trigger going. Ace, Talion and Hair-Trigger A couple years back I resurrected the campaign for an online VTT game and the following were the PCs. I ended up having a hard time finding players for such a gritty game and chose to run a Supers game instead. It didn't even last long enough for them to have an actual group name. Commando, The Shield, Vee, Faceless, Tracer, Spectre and Helliquin
  6. I have been submitting a bunch of Superheroic Heromachine Drawings over on the Champions board and have a ton of images I created for my Hudson City Chaos Campaign for Dark Champions. I thought I would post them here if ya'll don't mind. As with the previous thread if I post an homage that steps on the toes of anyone's intellectual property just let me know and I will immediately remove it. First, some of the PCs from my face to face game that started over a decade ago. Vengeance Purgatory, Stone, Edge, Barracuda, Badger and Codex The game lasted for nearly eight years and eventually Barracuda died in the game and was replaced by Badger. Later we added a couple of new characters to Vengeance when Edge left for Japan. Doc and Slash
  7. A couple more from 4E. King Cobra presented a bit of a challenge but I think it came out fairly well. King Cobra and Mongoose
  8. Well you could go old school and put Ogre, Esper, Lazer and Pulsar with them or if you really want to play up the laughs make it Bulldozer, Cybermind, El Salto and Zig Zag. If you want to play up the Unluck angle try Ankylosaur, Evil Eye, Hornet and Pulsar.
  9. Well Death Commando died from a Doctor Draconis energy bolt through his chest before the others. Stinger, Scatterbrain and Shockwave were killed by "the Dagger" after Brawler knocked Requiem into the control console and the Mega-Weapon shifted course to the scene of the battle. How many dice of unluck did they have? Sheesh...talk about a bad day. But that is just what is in the book. I for one reserve the right to resurrect them at any time that I choose Hear that QM?
  10. Keeping with the 4E Characters. Deathstroke Requiem, Chiller, Death Commando, Shockwave, Stinger and Scatterbrain
  11. More Favorites from 4th Edition. The Raiders Bullet, Big John and Starseer Panda and Raccoon
  12. In the 5e book Champions Universe - News of the World Nightwind is a full fledged member of the Champions. Nighthawk has started Project: Mongoose with Duke Steel and Scarlet Archer II. In 6th Edition it is only mentioned that Nighthawk left the Champions due to mistrust and the differences in his outlook on crime fighting. There is no mention of Project: Mongoose in 6e.
  13. Call it a character flaw but I hate to be told I am wrong when I know for a fact I am right. Directly from 6e Champions Universe pg. 89 The Champions have an “auxiliary” program for certain hero allies; current auxiliary members include simian super-scientist Dr. Silverback, the martial artist Nightwind, the gadgeteer Ultratech, the brick Blockhead, and the blaster-armed Crusader (who spends most of his time fighting crime on the west side). Former member Nighthawk sometimes provides the team with his investigative expertise as well. Since no official update has been released since this I assume it to still be true.
  14. I host the images on my server and have to redirect to a different port. Thank you all for the compliments.
  15. Ask and Ye shall receive. The Champions (4th Edition) Seeker, Obsidian, Quantum, Jaguar, Defender and Solitaire
  16. And the Retired PCs from the campaign (well Eve never actually appeared but was proposed and approved). Mr. Expeditious, Crimson Lake, Mr. Motion and Eve
  17. Here are some originals, well more accurately these are the PCs and Retired PCs from my Champions: The Mutant Chronicles Campaign. The costumes aren't all my creations, I did the Heromachine work from the players descriptions and other art. Hollywood Knights Twister, Psi-Kick, Midnight, Street Angel, Amber, Hardcore and Hive
  18. GRAB Black Diamond, Bluejay, Cheshire Cat and Hummingbird
  19. I whole heartedly agree with the consensus. I began playing Hero the Summer of 1981 and have never really been able to look at another game. But this does beg the question, if the Hero System is the best Generic Point Buy system out there, why do we continue to struggle with a fan base? Why can't DOJ sell enough products to remain profitable? As it stands, very little is being released for the game and most of what is I consider absolutely sub par (I am not speaking of the big Kick Starters and such but more about the stuff being created with the OLA). I truly miss the days of the Prospective Books for the upcoming year and chomping at the bit until the books came out. It saddens me that even the partnership with Champions-Online couldn't get us out of this funk. I am not sure if it is indicative of the nature of PNP RPGs in general or of something more related to HERO. There is a steep learning curve and some people just seem not to want to even try. One of the reasons I would love to see Chris Taylor's idea of the Starter Pack succeed. My $.02,
  20. Not sure if anyone is getting anything out of this. Lots of views but very few comments. At any rate I like sharing them if nothing else to show what can be done with HeroMachine3. Champions Auxiliary Nightwind, Blockhead and Dr. Silverback
  21. Because I just had to. The Champions Defender, Witchcraft, Sapphire, Ironclad, Kinetik and Nighthawk for good measure.
  22. Cool, I went ahead and joined. My username is DeadmanHero. If you like the Obsidian Portal page please become a Fan. Thanks,
  23. This time I am going back to 3e with The Protectors from "To Serve and Protect". An adventure that I recently ran in my Champions: The Mutant Chronicles campaign. The Protectors Quasar, Ace, Renegade, Dr. Wraithe, Huntsman, Helios, Maelstrom, Silverfist, Brainstorm and Doc Sonic
  24. Paladin, Thanks for the compliment? LOL I don't currently have a DeviantArt login but may do that. I will check on the Champions group if I do. Thanks. There is a write up on my Obsidian Portal page https://champions-mutant-chronicles.obsidianportal.com/ of the character back when she was a PC. It hasn't been changed since joining IMAGE but it should give you everything you need. Regards,
  25. Here is a few pics that I created of a team mentioned in Champions 6e but not shown nor written up anywhere. The California Patrol Downshift, Firewall, Sequoia, The Silicone Kid, Meteor Man, Zodiac Man and Faultline (in both Armored and Unarmored forms)
