  1. I was referencing the rules under analyze, the discription for the enhanced sense uses a detect.. But I am having some diffulctly figuring out what Analyze does for Normal Sight specficly?? Could you help me clarify what Normal Sight with Analyze means and does in game effect?.. Thanks for your feed back.. Note I have done a search on the boards and the answers are at best lacking, and tend to be specfic to detects.. Should analyze be liminted to specfic detect powers?? Thanks agian Mcgreeno
  2. I'm currently running a solo galatic champions game.. My player has a power that has just recently been bringing up questions Sight bought with Dis.. and Analyze.. He also has microscopic, and telescopic.. My questions is simple.. What should the descriptions be.. The example in the 5th uses a detect Metals...so it is pretty clear their.. However how should I run Plain old normal sight .. and does sight alread include Discrimitory?? LOVE some advice guys, on how to run this power..so far I've just been doing nothing with it...lol thanks in Advance..

Re: Idea/Suggestion: Offline Character Generator Heck for The COH/COV game, I already do that, I just log on build, and find a nice white background and take pics, then imprort to my graphics program where I have a template set up for paper minis, Takes about Five Minutes, minus the time to build the character.. BUT THIS WOULD BE AWSOME IF AUTOMATED....I would buy it, heck I bought Hero Machine!.. IF that tells them something...LOL.. I would probably by the game just for this feature alone if it existed. Not to worried about the game in general but if they added a feature like this.. I would buy..
  4. Re: The Spritual Martial Artist It is the concept of the character, and Physical manafistation of an astral form.. Essential, the character fights solely with with spirtual form, however he has not learned how to fully step over to the astral side.. His block, punches and kicks etc are completly directed by his mind, sense his body is only useless baggage that he has yet to shed. Thus the Name Psi (Psionic) Wraith (Astral Manafestation). Heck I just thought the Idea was unique and creative.. Weather the rules like it or not I shall incoorprate what the player wants.. Which is basicly Fighting just like a reagualar character ecept everything goes the opponents mind, But he wants Martial Manuvers, It will take some work... That is why I am trying to balance the for mentioned build. The player really dosen't want a MP, or similar psionic powers, just a unique take on an martial artist... Re: The Spritual Martial Artist I understand that I can do most of this with ego blast for around the same price, but in this case it is more the fill, and ego blast can't do trips or disarms, or give a bonus to DCV, ironicaly, It being a given that the ocv bonuses and minuses apply to DOCV, but I am going to allow the DCV bonuses and Minuses to apply to both ODCV and OECV... It's all about the flavor, and of course neat manuvers for the character. He likes complex. I just want to make sure I balance it right..
  6. Ok Guys I need some help with Game Balancing, rules call I have a player character that is a Psi Wraith, the game is champions setting.. Here is what I would like to allow the character to do By a Martial Manuver, Based of ECV, MD applies. Strength Does not add to damage. "Here is the Iffy part". EGO ADDS TO DAMAGE. Now The Ego Adds to damage, is explanied as The characters ego adds to damage just like STR. Should this be a Advantage, or a disadvantage.. My Thoughts Advantage: Your only buying one stat for EOCV, EDCV and Damage. Disadvantage: EGO already cost 2x the cost of STR, So, I would really like some Ideas, on this my thoghts are wavering between + 1/4 adder, or -1/4 adder... Thanks In advanced for helping me dertime the value of this Adder..

Re: Identifying Stars This Should Work by the rules Power: Uncanny Localization Sense Detect 3d X,Y,Z, axis postion (assuming Sol System is 0,0,0) and 2d XY Longatuide and Latatude 5 pts, This way the character would be able to use thier Navagation: Space, skill to figure out how to get back how obstaculs etc... you could even place a time period it would take before you could roll, to represet using tools, or not... Or just use the skills, which allow such already in the game.. Just my Two cents
  8. Re: Help with power idea - inertia thingies Sounds like this can be reflected fairly simply Compound Power, Immovable Points in space time... A. +4 To Acrobatics Skill checks B. Flight, requires a Climb Check or Acrobatics Skill check No turn penality. This is off the tip of my head, but hey just my two cents worth...

Vat of Chocolate Change Enviroment "Sticky non boyant substance" Effect -4 swim, -4 Jump, -4 Run, -4 flight Now a character falls into vat, if their swim is reduced to 0 and have no surface to jump off of they either have to fly, or teleport, maybe even tunneling. I would determine how long they have before submerged, then how long till they hit bottom. Then see how long they can hold their breath until they die. Now They could use a EB to evaporate the material, or blow a hole out of the side of the container, or as a limited form of tunneling by blowing chucks of liquid substance all over the place... but that would make it a entangle now wouldn't it....Hmmm... Just my 2 cents.
  11. I know their are many system to give a quick evaluation of the combat potential of antagonist vs PC's. However I have't found any exact formula. So may querry is how do you guys judge a challenge for you characters?
  12. A little background; My character is a powerful cyber-kenetic, if it has circuits he can manipulate it. Now the real problem. Vs computers I know that mind control works perfectly fine, but how about machines that don't have INT or EGO. Example the cars that are fitted for the loop in M City. They have an auto piolt, not really a computer and no INT or EGO. Here are what I and my ST came up with but we don't know which is correct. Skills bought with range, and indirect TK Fine Manip bought only to effect circuit based artifacts. STR bought ranged and indirect, only to use skill to effect circuit based artificats. Any of these should allow one to take over a machine based on circuitry only to do what the machine can naturaly do, but which one is correct, I put this up on the discussion board which is where most of the ideas came from, we just don't know which is right? Thanks for any help.
  13. Re: What fundamental thing would you change about the Hero system? I would change the fact that characters can by Independent OIF Immoble Bases! I mean really.... I buy A Suped up PC server, yea.... Lets see it cost 350pts/5 =70 with a total limiter of (-3 1/2). That's a total cost of 16 points. And it is very leagal, all it means is that the story teller can steal the machine. With some effort...Grrrrr, Now I hide my computer in a 350 pt base that is in deminisoin X, which has only one entrance that is invisable to all senses... Gives me a nice home and a place to store my stuff..... All it cost is IIF Imoble -1 1/4 and it is indipendent as well for a total of....wait for it ,,, 16pts.... Grrrrr.. Now as to my uber teloporting vechile that stays at the base, ....

Re: How to create power: flight via temporary energy platform I agree with mudpry8, summon a Vehicle. 12 pt Summon 30-point Vehicle, Slavishly Devoted (+1) (10 Active Points) This Gives you a Size 1, STR 15, BODY 11, DEF 5, SPD 3, Flight 10" Fairly Simple It is a Platform about the size of a car, that can carry 400 lbs. Done Just an Idea... Of course it could be a little more powerful 24 pt Summon , 62-point Vehicle, Slavishly Devoted (+1) (24 Active Points) This Gives you a Size 4, STR 30, BODY 14, DEF 7, SPD 3, Flight 10" X8 NCM Actually it is 61 points heh but the right up can be that simple on the character sheet.. Just my two cents
  15. Ok, just for ***** and Grins.. Detects come in three varities, the one I'm intrested in is large class of things, what would you guys find acceptable? How would one build normal sight which can detect a whole lot of Things? What would it take to build an Omni Sense, aka a Detect that could detect very nearly everything?

Selective (+1/4) (65 Active Points; Concentration (1/2 DCV -1/4), Consts Endurance (Only Cost End to Activate; -1/4) Would This work, Aka just to control any Guns in the Area with one simple commmand? Do I need Line of Sight with Area of Effect? Could Variable Special Effect be applied to the WF to cover All weapons (WF; Variable Special Effect limited to Technological Weapons (+1/2)? Side not how do you cut and paste to the hero fourm? I built the power with HD 3, But I can't seem to paste into the post form? Thanks for welcoming me to the forum, by the way. Use a skill at range, would it not need to also have the advantave usable as an attack (I know it is not an attack, but this power could seem like one)? WF Small Fire Arms 1 (Usable as an attack +1), Usable at Range +1/2, Must concentrate -1/2. Total Cost 2 pts To give an example of taking over someone elses gun.
  18. All right, the character I am creating is a Techno-morph with some cyber-kenitic abilities. However I am attempting to create a realitivly difficult power. Control Simple Machine; This power allows the hero/villian to control the function of machines are realitivly simple. In a mechanical sense the power is used to control any device that has No INT/EGO. Example; Make a car go in reverse while agianst what the driver wants, lock the vechiles doors, cause the weapon to miss fire or not fire at all, make the hovervechile land/fly away. Take over a suit of power armor and make it a puppet. ETC. I Think that this would be a combo power or at least it's very own multipower. My current Thoughts are; TK, only usable agianst machines, can only make machine do what it normaly does. (aka not have flying cars, but move the car on the ground following it's rules. As far as I understand Mind Control does not work on a machine or tech device that does not have a Int/Ego however I may be wrong and this could be solved so much simpler.... But I want the power to work on Powered armored characters as well as technological focus items. Any Ideas??
  19. Re: the point cost problem Just my Two Cents; I'm currently running a Star Hero/Fantasy campain, that is to say Space Age with magic and Psionics and here is what I did to balance things. 1. Equipment is free, However I use a tech level, for every tech level above the characters their is a minus to the skill roll to figure out, build, or repair the Item (idecided on a -4 that grows steadly, aka if the game is tech 10 a tech 11 item would be -4 and tech 12 would be -8 and a tech 13 would be -16 to the skill roll, I am basing my tech levels on The gurps charts. Now I do have a lot of equipment in the game, which the players puchase, I basicaly threw out reasources perk. Instead you could purchase some start up cash and thats about it. If a character wants to modify some eq and it is in his tech lv sure, takes a skill roll (-1 per 5 active points) time (one day per active point) and cash (use the chart out of star hero). This allows the characters unique equipment within game balance. 2. Unique power (Spells, Psionics) I've turened into individual skills, with prerequisites. AKA For telepathy, one must my Sense Emotion, Before Mind Read, then Can By Mind control. The spells work the same, you purchase the skill, 3/2 and make the skill roll. For every point you make it by the effect gains 5 active points. During character creation I talked with each player and placed the limits and prerequesets on the powers and abilites. Then I built a simple chart for each of the more complex abilities. Most of the time I just wing in Example, Player; I cast fire ball, GM; Make your roll Player; I made it by 3 GM; Excellent now roll to hit Player; Got him GM; Cool you get 1/2d to roll in that 1 hex area. (around 15 active points 1/2d6 rka area effect radius. That is a baseline example. The characters enjoy the difficulty of buying the powers and while I enjoy the Freedom to create. Anyway this is how I doing it, the process is defenatly a work of love and takes a little work on the GM.
  20. I have a quest concerning FF, FW, and Armor. As I understandt it Force Field works Identical to Armor except Force Field cost endurance. However one of my players believes that Force Field works like Force wall except Force Field is mobile. The Question is Which View point is correct. Force Field = Armor: except FF cost End Force Field = Force Wall: Except only personal and is mobile. IF I am wrong; however is a little more difficult. I have listened to my players arguments on FW vs. FF long enough, What would you recomend as a advantage cost, I was thinking a +1 for making force wall; personal only and mobile That is if it works the way I think it does Thank you for you time.
