  1. Just to make sure I'm understanding the rules correctly, I see that Ironclad (from the Champions RPG book) is listed as having an HKA that does 2d6 with the Limitation OAF. This makes sense. However, the part that I don't understand is that it is listed as dealing 4d6 Damage when his STR is added to it. His STR is listed at 70, and according to the rules HKAs deal and extra 1d6 Damage per 15 STR. This should put the total HKA Damage at 6d6, if I'm not mistaken?
  2. Got it. Thank you!! Sometimes the answer is so obvious. I tend to see the trees instead of the forest.
  3. Thank you for the information! I think I will use a Compound Power. Question: I can't figure out how to create a Compound Power in the designer...any help with that please?
  4. Do I build Reach as a separate Power with the appropriate Limitations based on the weapon (Power or Equipment) that grants it? Or is there a way to build Reach officially into a piece of Equipment or Power? Alternatively, is there a way to link Powers in Hero Designer? Currently, this is what I have: <i>Power Bastard Sword:</i> HKA 1 1/2d6 (3d6 w/STR), Reduced Endurance (0 END; END cost based on STR required to wield; +1/2) (37 Active Points); OAF (-1), STR Minimum 18 (-3/4), Required Hands One-And-A-Half-Handed (-1/4) and a totally separate Power: <i>Power Bastard Sword's Reach:</i> Stretching 1m, Reduced Endurance (0 END; +1/2); OAF (Power Bastard Sword; -1), Only To Cause Damage (-1/2), No Noncombat Stretching (-1/4) Is there a way to link these together or is this the best way. I'm trying to get my sheets as clean and efficient as possible. Thank you
  5. I'm also having trouble. I get this message: "Unable to install Java There are errors in the following switches: 'C:\Users\brand\AppData\Local\Temp\Temp2_HERODesigner.zip\HD6.jar'; Check that the commands are valid and try again." No idea what this means. I have Java installed already.
  6. Hello, I have a question regarding specific modifiers to OCV/DCV, specifically, the 'halving' effect. Certain combat maneuvers (and other game elements) can modify a character's OCV/DCV by half. I want to run a high-powered campaign, where characters might get OCV/DCV values of 20 or even higher. The halving effect at such great numbers can have a drastic effect on attack rolls compared to a simple -1 and -2 that other Combat Maneuvers generate. Does anybody have an alternative modifier to the 'halving' effect that I could use that is still balanced, but would remain more consistent at higher power levels. I'm thinking -2, -3, or even up to -5. I can't seem to find any rules alternative to the 'halving' effect, so I was wondering if anyone could point me in the right direction for something like this, or perhaps let me in on a particularly useful house rule that remedies this situation. Thank you for your time.
  7. @Sketchpad, That is a wonderfully simple idea. I will almost assuredly use that suggestion to build them. Thank you! Sometimes things are easier than I make them out to be. @Steve, I may purchase this. At the very least it will be a good starting point for me, thank you!
  8. Hello, Recently, I purchased the Power Ranger RPG, and I'm working on converting the setting to the HERO System. The mechanics of the Power Ranger RPG (using 'Essence 20') are just not satisfying me, and so I've decided to make the effort to convert the flavor of it into HERO. Below, you'll see what I think to be a fairly well detailed description of how I would like the basic 'Morphing' mechanic to work. All the PCs will be doing this on a regular basis, so it's important to me that I get this core aspect correct before I move on to what I consider the 'easier' aspects of conversion of the setting. If you have time, I'd love to see your thoughts about how to create this in the HERO System. I'm specifically having issues with the Power Morpher, and how to make it not an OAF while the Ranger is Morphed (since it more or less becomes fused their Morphin Armor while they are Morphed). Anyway, your thoughts and are appreciated! Any advice from the experts would be greatly helpful. Power Morpher A Power Morpher is a hi-tech device about the size of a smartphone that has a slot on the back of it so it can easily fit onto a user’s belt strap. The Power Morpher typically contains a Power Coin, which it displays prominently in its center. A Power Morpher’s primary purpose is to channel the power of Power Coin to allow the user to Morph. A Power Morpher without a Power Coin is essentially useless. If a Power Coin is the engine of a vehicle, the Power Morpher is the vehicle itself. Zeo Cell Aside from harnessing the power of a Power Coin, a Power Morpher also contains a Zeo Cell (Endurance Reserve), which is a battery that fuels the Power Morpher while it harnesses the power of the Power Coin. Zeo Cells have limited energy, and are slowly recharged as long as they are within the vicinity (several miles) of a sufficiently large Zeo Crystal. Power Coin A Power Coin is a highly refined piece of Zeo Crystal which takes an incredible amount of time and effort to produce. Each Power Coin is linked to (and thus bears a design based on) a specific Zord. The wielder of a Power Coin feels an innate connection to the Zord their Power Coin is based on. If the Power Morpher is the vehicle, the Power Coin is the vehicle’s engine. Morphing Morphing is a Full Phase Action (Extra Action [Full Phase; -1]) in which the user thrusts their Power Morpher (OAF; -1) forward with both hands (Gestures; -½) while calling out the name of their Dinozord (Incantations; -¼). The moment the user Morphs their Power Morpher immediately fuses to the belt of their newly-formed suit of Morphin Armor (see below). While Morphed, the user is enveloped in a stylized, form-fitting suit of Morphin Armor that not only protects them from harm (Resistant Defense [15 PD/15 ED]) but also protects their visual and auditory senses with a Dinozord-esque helmet (Sight Group & Hearing Group Flash Defense [10 points each]). The Morphed individual also experiences some vastly increased Characteristics (+24 STR, +12 DEX, +12 CON, +4 OCV, +4 DCV, +1 SPD, +5 PD, +2 ED, +7 REC, +25 END, +4 BODY, +22 STUN) and jumping ability (Leaping +20m, No Gravity Penalty [+½]) as a result. Finally, while Morphed, the user gains access to weaponry. Immediately upon Morphing a Blade Blaster appears holstered on the user’s hip. Additionally, the user now gains access to their specific and iconic Power Weapon(s). For most Power Rangers, this is a single unique weapon (a Power Sword), but for some, it can be a pair of weapons (Power Daggers). The user can summon their unique Power Weapon(s) to their hand(s) out of a pocket dimension as a Half Phase Action. When the user becomes Unmorphed, their Power Weapon immediately returns to its pocket dimension.
  9. I don't understand what I did differently, but it worked this time around. Thanks for your responsiveness.
  10. That's odd, because when I contacted them, they said it was pending and it should be approved by tomorrow. And my online banking shows pending.
  11. Apparently it takes them 2 days to fully process online purchases for some god-forsaken reason. I'll be waiting in limbo until then.
  12. My bank says the charge is pending, so I'm not sure where the hold up is then.
  13. I purchased HERO Designer tonight, and it's still showing in my "Invoices" section? When do I get to download the product I paid for? Any help would be appreciated.
