  1. Scotty Pregitzer is manipulating some of his photos to look like the come from Sin City. He had me do the blurb for this photo.
  2. Re: How do you design your champions game How I run a superhero game depends on the characters presented to me and the feel of the campaign that the players are looking for. Typically, me game group enjoys a standard superhero game with Bronze-Age style stories (similar to the DCAU). One of the things that I find helps drive the game is trying to have particular scenes happen. For instance, I think like a movie director: I want a particular scene to happen, and I try to arange a plot where that scene will appear in the campaign. This worked well in my recent Metaworld Reborn campaign, when I got the two superheroine PCs to appear in all sorts of fun outfits (sci-fi slave-girl, egyptians, amazons, cave-girl furs, etc.). It is important to have the PCs come up with interesting background for a GM to use as future plotlines. Goldenstar, for instance (one of the above-mentioned PCs) is the daughter of the world-famous hero American Eagle. She also had several Smallville-like adventures during her high school days. This allowed me to introduce villains from her father's past, as well as those from her school days. It is also important to use villains of your own creation and find ways to tie them to the PCs for that added element of meta-plot. The other PC, Spirit Eagle, was made the ancestor of an immortal villain (the Sovereign). He felt the blood connection to her and, at the same time, attempted to woo her to his side. Lastly, I recommend a GM to steal, steal, STEAL! Look through your favorite comics, movies, and stories and take ideas from them that you like. This helps flesh out the world you are running, especially when you are not sure of how to do these things yourself (it worked for me). Change the names, of course, so you are not accused of being completely lame. But use the characters nonetheless. American Eagle is nothing more than a Superman analog with a slightly different backstory. The Sovereign is a fun blending of Doctor Doom and Ra's Al-Ghul. When trying to come up with plot ideas for a game, remember that three cliches can easily be turned into a plot. I hope my ramblings help at least a little bit.
  3. Re: A Thread for Random Videos Some great Marvel/DC vids here: Marvel/DC Parody. Originally, this started as a parody for the mac and PC commercials, and then developed into a full story that was just awsome! I also recommend this online series: Team Epic. It is a little campy, but fun.
  4. Re: What were: the best Marvel titles of the 80's? The only Marvel series I collected during the 1980s was Transformers. I had not discovered my love for superheroes yet. But I did love those Robots in Disguise!
  5. Re: Attn: Logan Darklighter...or other Golddigger fans. The abilities of her armor seriously depend on what armor she brings with her at the time. There was one suit of armor that she brought along in an unexplored dungeon, as it had the best sensor technology she ever put into a suit. Another suit she once used, as it was the most heavily armed. In general, I would create a basic powered armor package (probably an EC), and then have a VPP to create her different suits.
  6. Re: Attn: Logan Darklighter...or other Golddigger fans. As a diehard GD fan, I love this write-up for Brianna. I would have liked to have seen some example write-ups for her various battlesuits, but she has so many variations, that this would be an overwhelming task.... Or, just a case for Variable Power Pool (powered armor). eh heh... A GD game has been on my list of game settings to run, as it is pretty much just a specialized version of a superhero campaign, but I get daunted by the specifics, sometimes.
  7. Re: Amalgamation Hero, let's create new Heroes from old ones Al Simmons was a janitor of the local police department with great skill. Not only was he good at his job, but he was also a master of the martial arts. He was able to defeat any challenger that came before him. Over time, he grew proud of his skill, showing off at police get-togethers. At one such event, one of the off-duty officers, Sargent Flint, came at Al, intending to show he was not so tough. With lightning reflexes, Al killed the officer. For this murder, Al went to jail and faced the death penalty. Because he had killed another, Al went to Hell, where the demon Mephibolge promised Al a second chance at life... but at a cost. Al was sent back to Earth, his sould inhabiting the form of a dog. With his demonic powers, Al was able to transform his canine self into a more humanoid figure, but still possessing twisted, demonic features -- a long red cape, black armor, and green-glowing eyes. Haunting Al is the memory of his lover, Rosemary. Taunting him every step of the way is a demon inhabiting the form of a cat, calling himself Spot. There.... now my brain hurts..... need ice..... Must... stop talking like.... KIRK!

  9. Re: WWYD - Marvel's Civil War All my heroes move to another country to show just how stupid the government is being. Let the government deal with the flood of villains that will suddenly have all the power, as the heroes are so busy fighting each other, that they cannot fight the true evil. Secondly, I, as a player, leave the table and tell the GM that if he wants to run a de-consturctionist game setting, to do so with his -own- characters, and not with those that already have history and motivation.
  10. Re: Rifts HERO? In my case, I just have: Laser Pistols / Rifles, Ion Guns (Blasters), Particle Beam Weapons, Plasma Weapons, and then a normal set of guns. All the high-tech weapons are pretty generic, and based on the write-ups found in Star HERO. If a player wants to customize their weapon, they need to modify the base write-up. Otherwise, a gun is a gun is a gun.
  11. Re: A Fun and Creepy Thought All I can think is: ZAP! "Ow, my sperm!" ZAP! "Huh... It didn't hurt that time." It is a creppy though to think of a cosmic doomsday weapon, just as it is creepy to know that the world is completely unprepared for the event of a killer meteor. But, to be honest, I don't worry about such things. There is honestly -nothing- we can do about such events. If they happen, we die... or, at best, get thrown back to the cave-man days. Either way, there is no point in stressing about such events that we, as a race, have absolutely no control over. The only thing we can do is try to work harder on our space program. Only be improving our method of finding new ways to travel through space, and finding new worlds to inhabit, can we be truely safe from such calamities. Those individuals who say "we need to fix our problems on Earth before we start to think about going into space" are morons of the highest degree. If one of these comsic doomsday events does happen, and we are all, as a race, still on Earth when it does... goodbye Humanity. So look at it this way... Either don't worry about it (which is what I do, as I do not have the proper educational background for the second option), or go to work for the space program for the betterment of humankind as a whole.
  12. Re: Galactic maps I've got Astrosynthesis 2.0 and it looks pretty neat. Combine it with Fractal Mapper, and it makes an interesting combination.
  13. Re: What do you consider “Modern Paranormal”? If you are looking for supernaturally-based paranormal settings, I seriously recommend the Dresden Chronicles by Jim Butcher. Soon enough, it will be released on SciFi Channel as a series (and Jim, himself, loves what they are doing with it). The book, themselves, are wonderful mysteries to read.
  14. Re: 39 point me I'm 75 points with 40 points of Disads! Most of that is Knowledge Skills.
  15. Re: WWYCD if their reflection suddenly winked at them? Requiem: "Oh no! Not Coyote!"
  16. Re: WWYCD: Whoa! Ninjas! Requiem: Speaks japanese, but these obviously seem to be from the past. The only person he knows who can travel through time is Mamselle, who would have nothing to do with these guys... I'll see if La Blue Girl can handle it. Bastian: It's clobbering time!
  17. Re: WWYCD: We Have To Work With Them To Get Out Of Here... It really would depend on -which- two badguys I was stuck in the cell with; but, in general, both Bastian and Requiem are fully willing to work with badguys for getting something done that is mutually benficial. The villains will be watched the entire time, of course.
  18. Re: Quote of the Week from my gaming group... Reminds me of my favorite Avengers issue, when Thor breaks down the wall: "Ultron! We would have words with thee!" Rep for J00
  19. Re: Free Stuff update I liked it. Pretty well thought out for investigative types.
  20. Re: Animation or Comics? I feel, as a whole, that the animated Timm/Dini DC series depict the characters far more true to the actual concepts than the comic books have been for DECADES! Since both DC and Marvel have been seeping themselves in the Iron Age standards of killing people left and right, I can't read their stuff anymore. The only comic I've enjoyed collecting are the hardback collectionns of the Batman/Superman series. I still have problems with some of the events, but, generally, they are pretty good. If you want a good print comic, go read PS238 by Aaron Williams. Otherwise, I'm planning on just watching the DCAU some more.
  21. Re: Rifts HERO? I completely ignore MDC and SDC. Damage is damage in my Rifts HERO game. To represent Mega-Damage, I usually make MD Weapons with the Armor Piercing Advantage, and give MD Armors the Hardened Advantage. That's really all I do to represent this bad Palladium trope.
  22. Re: Night of the Living Dead Hero Plot Ideas InputJack ran a short zombie apocolypse game a couple of months ago. It was pretty fun. I played an up-and-coming college football star. I was jealous of one of the NPC ideas, though. IJ created an NPC that was a guy who was at a sci-fi convention when the attack started. He was dressed as a Klingon with full leather armor and had a bat'leth sword. Why didn't I think of that!?!
  23. Re: DOLPHINS! How would you GM them? Play!?! Play play play play play play play PLAY PLAY PLAY PLAY PLAY!!!!! PLAY!!!!!111!!!!!11!
