  1. Re: How powerful should..... Might I suggest that you try 2d6 RKA penetrating, That would give the Blaster a big danger factor and make it useable agisnt ship (but not very usefuil)
  2. Re: What are _____ like in your game? I ran a short live game where the players ran into an older "race" that was created by the dwarves. The where the Burloch Trinur (Bur-lock trin-or), A race of Stream powered constructs. The where made to look like humans in full plate, the armor hiding the sturdy cog work inside. Often the armor was made of heavy bronze and Copper, leaving the inside to be made of accual steel. To keep going the would eat coal (the mouth would open, allowing them to dump coal onto there furnace bellies) and drink water (by a straw built into the mouth) They where made during one of the great wars between the dwarves and the goblins. The original idea was that they would take the soul of a dying warrior (voluntary of course) and magically bind it to a piece of crystal which was then placed in the head of the armored body. The war passed but the Burlch Trinur remained. As time passed they augmented their own armor with ornamental designs, identifying each individual. They also modified their bodies so that some would have built in weapons (steam blast here, Spiked Mace hand there and so on). Eventually the Burloch Trinur left the lands of the dwarves to find their own, and faded into legend. That is until the players found a store house full of broken/crazed/dysfunctional ones. Out of the 100 they found 1 was still functional and sane. Rathingor the Stonehammer joined they players for a short while (but then the game closed)
  3. Re: Funny game voices I love using different voices and accents for NPCs, of course I don't think some are very different from others but my players seem to know who they are talking to. My proudest moment is the NPC who used a voice modulator (and I didn't), I think the effect worked really well . and yes, I too wish to be a voice actor. Alas, I don't have the skills .
  4. Re: Anyone have solutions for the Stun Lottery that a high dice Killing Attack creates? Man talk about Ouch time 1. When we talk about massive KA dice, we're really talking about the scale & balance of how easy it is to put someone down, yeah? Yeah. First thing we did was implement the x3 STUN SER rule, largely because I wanted to use Hit Locs and the group said "we don't wanna." I am a man of the people, sez I, so we won't use 'em. The reason? They didn't like mooks have a percentile chance to tag 'em in the head. Fair enough. Ok I agree with this. IF PC's dont want to use hit location a standard X3 stun is fine. Kind of on the high side for what Im used to but fine. 2. Yes. 6d6 KA is a LOT of damage, but that comes with the territory. Would you stop someone from taking a 6d6 Transform? Sure, they can get turned back, but the effect is the same. Worse, on a high enough SPD vs. a target with no Power Defense, the Transform almost guarantees they go down inside of 2 segments. The problem I see with this is that comparing KAs and TA's is apples and oranges. Yes, they both go aginst BOD but (unless you have a TA to make something living into something dead.... Unlikly) TAs make you something you are not and KAs simply make you dead. Its more comparable to match KAs with EBs. Damage is damage man. I guess I just don't have a problem with 6d6, because by the time they reach that point in the cap (90 Active is the cap on powers right now) I'm putting together 400 & 450 points villains who can take it and dish it back out again. Looked at another way: 90 Active Killing vs. 90 Active Armor means nothing happens to the guy in armor. Not that we always think so literally, but it's there. The problem with High end KAs is it does bring quick escalation of characters. "My guy has a 6d6 KA." "Oh yeah well My guy has 90pts of PD." "Well Im buying AP on my attack." "Fine Im getting Hardend DEF." and so on. Soon your playing in the Dragon Ball Z game . Its much easier to scale down the attacks and defense, then accasionally have the Big Badda Boom attacks. This way you can have the PCs say "wow that was tough. We almost didn't make it. good thing we had to THINK are way out of it or we would have been goners." I'm a big advocate of using imagination and good planing to solve a problem instead of ramping up the scale. Scale is a very important aspect of the game that is easy to forget and there are (maybe not easier) better ways to by the big attacks. (OK off the soap box now) 6d6 KA is a hugh attack , made even worse with the fact its wielded by a villian PC (meaning he'll use it for everything yeah know? Attacking heros, Loping off car hoods, opening beer cans ETC). I'm not sure that lowering it 1d6 will help. It would help to make it a 4d6 or even a 3d6 KA to help scale. As to the level its at now, I would suggest you have more heros with Dam Reduction, or Even introducing the PCs Nemisis Sheild Man (40 PD/ED Force Wall, you can't harm me you vile villian you). Good luck with it
  5. Re: The things I've learned playing a Martial Artist Two more words.. Find Weakness
  6. Re: The things I've learned playing a Martial Artist Two Words... Skill Levels
  7. Re: Full Metal Alchemist Allthought now that I think about it Ed and the Teacher also have Multipowers and EC, Just at a larger point base
  8. Re: No spaceship No matter where you are.. there you go
  9. Re: Full Metal Alchemist I dont think that Alchemy should be a VVP. Most of the Alchemists seam to have 1 specailty and dont do much else (roy dose Fire/ EBs, Armstrong dose stone/ Physical attacks and so on). I just dont see everyone being able to do everything... the only ones that seam to have VVPs are Ed and Ed's teacher. If you created multipowers with EC backups I belive that you would get more of the feel of the series. Of course as the PCs you would need to decide if you had seen the gate (VVP) or not (standard Alchemy), balance would still be mantained becuase everyone is on the same points. Of course there is the Automail and living armor things (I personally think that Automail is WAAYYYYYYYYYYYY kewl ) Someone posted earlyer that rank should cost point. I disagree. If it is a Alchemist gamethen everyone is ion the army right? If you want to have ranks just decide that some of the players out rank the others and move on. If its not a military game ignore it. I just feel that players should not have to spend point for little to no reason (ok I know Ill get flamed for that comment but Im making it anyway MUHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAH) I love this series ( watched them all and its awsome) and would love to play in a game based in the same world or off of it. I might suggest though that a differnt game system (like Big Eyes Small Mouth. Its a much simpler system and would memic the Alchemist world nicely. OK its one of my favorite systems...what can I say ) but this is just my opinion. Love the rightups i have read so far, keep up the good work
  10. Re: Favorite Sci-Fi Weapon Well for me it depends on how I feel at that particular moment. But some of them are... The Lightsaber. can't go wrong with the classics. Of course, the Jedi training to go with it is a must. The Phaser type II. the multi-tool of the sci-fi world. The Atom Blaster from Blade Runner. Nothing sez lovin like hyper acclerated .44 caliber rounds. The Time bombs from Strontiom Dog. It causes the target to be frozen in time for a split second. Of course by the time the target comes out of it the planet has moved and they are stuck in space. Any weapon from the Aliens movies (god I'm an Aliens movie geek) The Staff weapons from Stargate The Suit from Greatest American Hero Mal's Gun and Vera From Firefly. The Lasers for Battle Star Galactica TOS Oh oh oh... I almost forgot the Servo. Gary Seven's kewl pen like weapon from Star trek TOS episode Assignment: Earth and many many more to numberous to mention
  11. Re: What Would Your Character See? Timberwolf (AKA The Dave) would be the proverbial 98 pound weakling, unable to move much less help his friends who would be being horribly tortured and murdured before him by a demonic form of his father. Overcoming his fears would be difficult at best. He would focus on facts he knows, his father is dead and he has the ability to fight his own demons. Because Dave's personal reality is based on the "now" of his situation it might boil down to his will power to break the illusion. Mr. American would find himself the villian. Regardless of what he did he would find himself killing and destroying the very things he holds dear, friends, loved ones and country alike. Because Mr. American belives that he could not possibly do the evil things he was performing, he would focus on what he knows he is and not what his sees
  12. Re: Comics you loved...but apparently no one else did Mark Shaw was the Manhunter I was used to. I really like the way he handled things adn the baton and costume was eally kewl
  13. Re: Comics you loved...but apparently no one else did well let me see. Im amazed that no one else posted them so here goes(my dignity and showing my age) Manhunter Blue Devil Rom Space Knight I guess I was one of 5 people reading them (sigh)
  14. Re: WWYCD: Registration Mr. American respects the decision of his teammates. It would not be an issue unless it was against the law. If it's truly mandatory he would try his best to convince his teammate that the registration is a valuable tool for the government and as such it is the lawful duty of any law abiding citizen to register. police officers and armed forces personal are registered therefore it should not be an issue. If the teammate still refuses he/she is braking the law and as a law breaker would have to be reported.
  15. Re: WWYCD: Registration Timberwolf (AKA The Dave) wouldn’t register, he views the idea of mandatory registration sounds a little to familiar (can you say concentration camps... anyone? Hum?). The truth of this becomes evident when we view the human condition, we fear what we don’t understand or can’t control. Dave is a BIG believer in freedom and is unwilling to give more control to the government. Mr. American, being a patriot in all ways would happily register and encourage others to do so.
