  1. Re: So: What Superpowers would your Parents get if they had a "Radiation Accident" My mom would have high-level TK, mega-scale, only useable to clean and put everything in its place. My dad would gain the ability to make any tool (mechanical, electronic, or hand) appear exactly where and when he needs it to.
  2. Re: Genre-crossover nightmares I'd actually pay to see that one.
  3. Re: Alternate Sexualities in Champions and Supers settings To me, the whole chastity/celebacy thing is a show of devotion and commitment. A person is giving up a big part of the life of a normal human being in obedience to their god, creed, or whatever. I have no problem with a character who would lose their powers as a result of engaging in sexual acts, although forced sex (i.e. rape) would not count toward removing said abilities. Of course, rape would never come up in one of my games anyway. Yes, rape happens in my game worlds, but always "off-camera," never to a PC (as they wold have the ability to stop it anyway), and probably a lot less often than it does in RL. I also would not have a roblem with a character who needs sex to recharge their powers in most games I run. Of course, it would probably just be obliquely referred to, unless I was running for a very special, very select group.
  4. Re: The bystander safety trope and your game For me, it depends on the type of game. If it's a more "realistic," modern age game, then yeah, bystanders are in danger. Of course, in a world where superhuman battles are a common occuranc, most people are smart enough to get under cover when the nuclear-powered fists start flying. In a more Silver Age-style game, it's never even a consideration. Bystanders are just never endangered unless it' a specific plot point.

  8. Re: Robin Hooding Superhero Crimefighters 01. It would depend on how the criminal in question got the money in the first place. Sale of illegal substances or services? Yeah, take it. Stolen or extorted? Return it to its rightful owner. Also remember that the money is technically evidence, and may be needed if the criminals make it to trial. 02. and 03. Depends on the campaign I'm running. But if I'm going to allow the Psyche Lim, I'm going to make sure it's roleplayed as stated. 04. I think "Reluctance To Kill" works just fine. "Killing Is a Last Resort" might be good too. 05. I don't know why there are so few examples. It could be because anyone not stated to have a Psy Lim like "Code Vs. Killing," "Casual Killer," or so forth is assumed to have a 0-Point "Reluctance To Kill." And I have played several characters who would never kill unless there was absolutely no other alternative, but would happily put bad guys in traction for months.
  9. Re: Super Agents I once ran a campaign of super-powered SHIELD Agents, and it was a blast. It was a three-person group of super-powered agents, any of which could stand among the ranks of Marvel's greatest heroes. They were sent on special missions requiring a small team of powerful, very versatile people, like extracting a compromised agent from Latveria.
  10. Re: Alternate Sexualities in Champions and Supers settings Maybe the real problem, if there is one, is this whole reboot. I mean, I saw no reason to do it, and from everything I've read about it, and the few comics I have read that DC has put out since, it was poorly done and just made things in the DC Universe too..depressing. As far as I can see, most of DC's characters are now jerks at best. If they wanted to revamp the DC Universe, fine, but do it well. Don't erase characters with 70+ years of history, history that made them as cool as they were. I mean, to me, the biggest part of the modern JSA'a appeal was their status as the elder statesmen of the superhero community. These were the guys that Superman and Batman looked up to. That was cool. Then they decided to reboot the whole thing (when it was really Marvel who needed a hard reboot), erase that history and that status, and make all their characters "edgy" and "bad-ass." And for most of DC's characters, that characterization just doesn't work. Oh, and no character from the Wildstorm universe should ever have been integrated into the DCU. The backgrounds of the two universes are just too incompatible. And instead of WS characters acting more like DC characters, it comes off the other way around. If DC really felt the need to relaunch their line, they should have done it more along the lines of their other recent relanch, the Young Justice animated series. Just my two bits.
  11. Re: Alternate Sexualities in Champions and Supers settings As Blue Beetle (Ted Kord) said in Countdown To Infinite Crisis, "I'll tell you a secret about Diana. We're all in love with her."
  12. Re: Does anyone ekse like People with Powers style games?
  13. Re: Superhero team Leader: PC or NPC? I always prefer PCs to be team leader. The position is usally determined through roleplaying. I will occasionally use an NPC mentor/benefactor, but they're more often than not just there for exposition.
  14. Re: Genre-crossover nightmares I believe the top one was the one I saw. But all are awesome. And where can I get that toy?!
  15. Re: Alternate Sexualities in Champions and Supers settings Is this about Green Lantern being gay? As long as it's not Hal Jordan, no problem. But Hal is too well-established as being a fan of the ladies (I submit Carol Ferris for your consideration). I don't know enough about John Stewart's and Guy Gardner's love lives to make a call on them. As for Kyle Rainer, I could see him being bisexual, but again, there is an established history of him having relationships with women. Or they could create an entirely new GL who happens to be gay. That works too.
  16. Re: Genre-crossover nightmares I saw this image somewhere. I don't remember where though. It was made of awesome.
  17. Re: Champions Live Action coming down to the wire! There are two reasons I haven't contributed; 1) I'm broke. 2) I have no gaming group at the moment.
  18. Re: High Powered Super-heroes I think it also depends on how they stack up against other supers in the world.
  19. Re: WWE Snark-Free Zone Actually, I just find him an annoying rehash of Punk's Heel character.
  20. Re: WWE Snark-Free Zone Yeah, at this point, Punk and Sheamus are pretty much the only reasons I watch WWE.
  21. Re: WWE Snark-Free Zone In the last few weeks, I have found a new favorite wrestling organization, ever since Ring Of Honor became available on my cable system. I'm honestly still learning who everybody is, But it is great to be able to see some good old-fashioned professional wrestling action on my TV again.
  22. Re: Sci-Fi Melee Weapons: Bat'leth, Lirpas, Lightsabres, Rykk Blades, Koltari, Denn'B No, you do not ned to be a Force user to handel a lightsaber. But if you're not, you better be really good, really well trained, and/or really lucky. Greivous could do it because his cyborg body was built to be faster, tougher, and more agile than a flesh-and-blood body. Boba Fett could use one, defensively, for a few minutes because he's just that damn good. As for Han Solo, well, slicing open a tauntaun belly isn't quite the same as using it in battle. I have no idea who Anja Galladro is.
  23. Re: campaign start off adventure Some good all-purpose first adventures include: Rampaging monster in dowtown , Alien invasion, Massive supervillain jailbreak, just about anything that would draw multiple heroes to one spot, even if they've never met before.
  24. Re: From Superfriends to Watchmen: The Extremes of Superheroes Put me down as another vote for JLU-style! In fact, the last couple of games I ran, I described what I wanted from my players exactly that way.
