  1. Re: Disabling a Phisical Manifestation Power with transform Yes but the Rune carved in to the stone, metal, tatoo, text on parchment would remain.
  2. Re: Disabling a Phisical Manifestation Power with transform The problem is it would damage the surfaces of the materials scribed on. The Idea is not to damage them... only to erase the text, rune, what ever.
  3. I am trying to create a power that can disable magical runes with the Physical manifestation limitation since they all have Physical Manifestation - Rune and Media (-1/4). So if I erase the rune in effect damaging the "focus" should it not destroy the power? It feels right I just want to make sure it works and isn't excessively abusable... Suffice to say both the magic it cancels out as well as the power below are based on Killer Shrikes Rune caster magic system. Would this work (legally): Rune of Erasure: Minor Transform 10d6 (Written or scribed surface in to blank surface, Recreating or rewriting text or rune) (100 Active Points); 1 Charge which Never Recovers (-4), All Or Nothing (-1/2), Normal Defenses Apply DEF of "focus" resists transformation (-1/2), Physical Manifestation - Rune and Media (-1/4) RC:16 Notes: Must transform as if surface is a focus of AP/5 DEF, min 3 DEF and the same amount of body. The DM may see fit to increase this DEF if the material is specially prepared or reinforced. Also if the rune is one that provides Power defense the highest defense may be applied. Permanent Runes may be recovered with out additional XP expenditure by re-scribing them as long as they didn't take the independent limitation.
  4. Suppose I wasn't to create a power that when striking a target on the ground, the target is lifted up of the ground instead of knocked back or down.... I don't want to lift them with telekineses or flight UBA since the Idea is to actually HIT the target. Sort uf like to set up for a video game aerial combo.
  5. Re: [Movie] Day Watch I saw a friend playing a terribly dubbed version of DW game. Don't know how he got it though. Also crashed a lot so it was probably a ripoff.
  6. Re: Magical Trap trigger blinder/activator Ok I am fairly new to all this though I have been playing around with the system for a while. Just to make sure I am understanding all of this correctly. Flashing a trigger to "blind it" for a few segments to by pass it is basically Munchkiny and Suppress should be used instead with the special effect that the trigger is blocked. Using detect trigger is considered comparable to detect Tactical nuke activation key? If so, how would you go about simulating a hacker that can actually do this then. Suppress (only to set off trigger)? Sounds a bit strange... think this a good way to simulate this. After all a suppress is supposed to stop a power were setting it off unexpectedly could turn an opponents power to your favor. I feel its against the theme of Suppress, no?
  7. Re: Teleporting -- need a better name for it. Etherstep or etherwalk, whisping, therenow
  8. Re: [Movie] Day Watch Its going to be in all the major theaters here in Cancun Mexico. There is really only ONE big movie chain and it is going to ave it in all of its theaters. I didn't think it would make it as Night watch never did.
  9. Re: Magical Trap trigger blinder/activator It could be made as a power that block only certain common senses... such as sight group, detects, hearing group, touch group. I never said it was infallible... What is suddenly worrying me is the detectability of triggers such as passwords or something like that. Would not being able to figure out it is password activated be part of the special effect or would it actually incur a cost such as IPE? I don't want people walking around guessing passwords to the ubber-evil castle by making a good PER roll. I am not looking to justify everything systemwise necessarily, but if it is possible, all the better.
  10. Re: Magical Trap trigger blinder/activator Can you just suppress a trigger? I know I don't want to suppress the whole effect as there could be unforeseen secondary triggers or effects linked to magical effect or special effects or other magical mischief could be possible with the effect. Darkness fits the bill better I think. As for security systems, it could work I guess as defined with a magical special effect. I was thinking change environment as the trigger because it allows quite a few different options though minor, but could be enough to set off most triggers though not all. Another option i though was to use some sort of illusion that only affects triggers. It would be obvious that the effect is triggerable, but would something like a command word be obvious to a PER roll? Or if you add a telepathy to the power and a trigger to go off when "anybody enters the room with out thinking about apples"? The trigger is clear and easily verifiable, however it shouldn't be obvious how it works.
  11. This is focused for rune casters, however it can apply to any type of spell casting. I am looking to create an effect that basically detects the trigger required to set of a rune=(or magical trap or effect), note that this information is not revealed to the caster or user of the effect. The second part of the effect takes the information detected and uses it to Set off the magical trigger by satisfying the conditions Blind the triggers ability to detect the proper conditions, effectively avoiding its activation for a limited time. For the first part I was thinking a focused detect (discriminatory/analyze) with the -2 limitation of only working for the power. To activate the trigger I was thinking of a fairly open ended change environment only to activate the trigger. Finally To temporarily disable the trigger I was thinking of using a Flash on a variety of senses only vs. Trigger. Any ideas opinions, tips suggestions or blind spots I'm missing? Especially any suggestions on exactly how to put this together are appreciated.
  12. Re: How to get swords on your starship I cant agree more with this method. I actually came in to suggest it from the topic title but oh well waaay to late. Make stasis fields so cheap and simple to power they can be installed in watches, com links belt buckles, etc. That most people carry them around just in case. So any one serious at killing some one better have a hand to hand weapon available unless it s a surprise kill. Make ranged weapons illegal and the power emissions from energy weapons easily detectable by standard security measures such as any theft detector in stores, malls, buildings, portable police radars etc.. making it unpractical to have them in the first place. Slug weapons being illegal are outrageously expensive and hard to get. Heavy penalties to those carrying them, not to mention being considered a social pariah, even among criminals who consider ranged weapon users spineless scum, making them even outcasts among outcasts. It can all stem from an ancient apocalyptic war that left a social scar on weapons of mass destruction and any type of gn that has carried on in to the generations. Just some Ideas, hope I didn't bore you.
  13. Re: [Movie] Day Watch UH:confused:! I heard it was a trilogy too. Any reference you can point me to for the info on the other 2 movies?
  14. Re: need help for a power The problem with the entangle is it seems an all or nothing deal. A poison I think would be more of a process and be cumulative. Just a thought, but would cumulative Damage shield drain SPD do this limited to 1D6 per body damage received fit the concept a bit better even though it is a bit more expensive and complex.
  15. Re: [Movie] Day Watch Liked it quite a bit. All the moving around of the camera might make you dizzy though. Effects are great! The story is good, especially how they go about politicking between good an evil, I think it's funny in weird sort of way. However make sure you have seen night watch first or you will not understand a lot of what is happening. Especially at the end. I cant waight for twilight or what ever #3 is going to be called.
  16. A thread to comment on conversions for the races on Monte Cooks Arcana Evolved setting. I have already created some racial templates with the adjusted NCM. they are posted on hero designer fantasy hero templates section. Have currently converted: Dracha Giant Faen (Quickling and Loresong) Litorian Mojh Working on: Spryte Sibeccai Verrik Current files are also available at http://www.herogames.com/forums/showpost.php?p=1348578&postcount=43 I will also be opening up a thread for classes and magic system.
  17. Re: Monte Cook's Arcana Evolved Here are the templates with NCM(20) and STR (Cost:2). For a few of Monte Cook's races. I can't upload anymore but the rest are in www.herodesigner.com Here are: Dracha Faen Loresong Faen Quickling Giant Litorian On Hero desinger there is also: MojhWoking on Spryte Sibeccai Verrik For humans I use KS's Human Package deals.
  18. Re: Monte Cook's Arcana Evolved That wouldnt work becaus they dont feel the pain, however damage is still there which PD and ED would reduce (not what the ability does). Flash self might work, but then again, it is voluntary and the character should be able to activate and deactivate as an atack action at will. Flash would last X number of segments and can't be ended at will. Thanks for the suggestion. I knew it was easy enough. I just couldnt find the right starting point. Here is what I came up with with your help: Darkness to Targeting and Non Targeting Sense Group 1" radius, Variable Special Effects (Can shut down up to any 2 sense groups; +1/4), Reduced Endurance (0 END; +1/2), Mobile (must follow self) (+1/2) (34 Active Points); Self Only (-1) cost: 17 Note: This power allows the character to shut down any 2 sense groups in his body. This is done as an atack action an caries all the benefits and disadvantages of not having that sens group. Don't know if it is a bit clumsy as regularly self only aplies exclusivley to adjustment powers. Any suggestions?
  19. Re: Monte Cook's Arcana Evolved I was asking about Arcana Evolved conversion. I love the books and the setting. The thread started out great but now is about everything except the title I am trying to convert this for one of the races: Sensory Control: The Race can selectively shut off their senses. This means they can willingly blind themselves (taking the appropriate penalties) to become immune to gaze attacks and similar visual dangers. They can willingly go deaf and make themselves impervious to language-based or similar effects. They can shut off their sense of touch and become immune to pain effects but suffer a –2 circumstance penalty to attack rolls, Open Lock or Disable Device attempts, or any other action the DM rules to be touch-dependent. Shutting off or reactivating a sense is a standard action. Any suggestions I am lost. I am also working on the magic system. It is rich and divers though it’s based on d20, it is made to enable spell casters to differentiate and be unique. Meaning you don’t necessarily know what to expect all the time from magic… making it well… magical again. I am looking to model the spirit of the magic system more than the mechanics. It works wonders around the d20 system with out breaking it. But I am sure the way magic works in the sting freed form d20 restraints should be very Magical. Thanks to KS for all the info on his site I hope he doesn’t mind I take liberally from in fashioning this hybrid. BTW I will be posting the race templates for arcana Evolved to Hero desinger based on 75+75 point startups. Templates use the TOTAL cos method by KS (If i got it right). Appreciate any input.
  20. Re: Monte Cook's Arcana Evolved wat ever happened to Arcana Evoled?
  21. Re: Racial Package Deals Help Actually slowly but surely I am doing all the data entry. However I am not sure the format is precise. I will send you what I have KS and you can adjust it to the way it should be to best conform to your site. I will eventually have most races and magic package deals to fit in with campaign as, thanks to your work on the magic systems I have finaly been able to put some rules to all the obscure spell casters I have walking arround.
  22. Re: Ultimate Grimoire HD Prefabs updated I can't rep you or thank you enough for this.
  23. Re: Final Fantasy potions and items and Monsters Dont know how if this has been posted, but there is a lot to pull from at http://returnergames.com/
  24. Re: Sorceror/Wizard 3.5 Spell Conversion I'll vote for cleirc too! You are doing excellent work here! Congrats! You Rock!
  25. Re: [Magic System] Stoburu Hey nice. I love reading through your magic systems. You should link these up. I'm lucky I found them. I noticed you have a link on the “what’s new” section though.
