  1. That’s what I thought when I entered this thread. What else does that stand for?
  2. I just got around to seeing the second best Fantastic Four movie of all time....Incredibles 2. The story had the characterization, humor and actual feeling of family that the last big budget travesty lacked. The people behind the MCU should give Brad Bird the job of screenwriting and directing the live action film in the works. Also I think I’d be great for an Easter Egg seeing Craig T. Nelson, Holly Hunter and the voice actors who played the kids all sitting together somewhere in the movie.
  3. Doesn’t this take a chance that some drunk hunter types go night shooting?
  4. I said it somewhere else but... Merry Christmas to all and to all a good night!
  5. A Dwarven Sorcerer Bard. I know it’s full of contradictions, but then again so am I. Merry Christmas to all, and to all a good night!
  6. I don’t know what their getting out of it, but I agree with your assessment. If it didn’t have some upside for them they’d promote it as some kind of “doing good for the internet” social thing. If they’re not being clear about their motives then there’s good reason to be wary. There’s cheese in the trap for a reason.
  7. I’ve just been listening to the new project of singer Morgan James. She came out with a new version album of Jesus Christ Superstar with an all female cast. It’s called “She is Risen”. Very different but very good. You can hear tracks on YouTube, check it out.

    Hereditary Heroes

I’d meant that Slayers last only short periods while the WN family have careers that sometimes last decades or more.
  9. The only Christmas song I can tolerate (and that one only once or twice per year) is the Bing Crosby & David Bowie version of Little Drummer Boy. “See the day of glory... When men of good will, live in peace .. Live in peace again... Can it be?”

    Hereditary Heroes

I can offer you two inspirations to choose from. First would be the Slayer line from Buffy the Vampire Slayer. Even though the tag line is “In each generation a Slayer is born.” The way it worked it the series was that most Slayers from Pre-Babylon to now only lived two to three years before being killed and the power moving into the next girl. Some only lasted a few months or even days. These girls have no connection to either their predecessors or followers. The second is the Wold-Newton family tree. Writer Phillip Jose Farmer took the real world event of a meteor landing in Wold-Newton England in the 17somethings and supposed it landed near the road being traveled by three coaches full of nobles and their servants. The radiation subtly altered the genes of all to improve the health and intelligence of their descendants. He then created a family tree reaching from then until the 1940’s that included the Scarlett Pimpernel, Tarzan, Doc Savage, both Sherlock Holmes and Prof. Moriarity, Fu Manchu, Sam Spade and many others. Either option magical or genetic gives reason for generational lines of both heroes and villains. Good luck on your creations.
  11. Way cool! Does the “driver” sit in the head or the main body? I’m lousy at imagining scale on things like this.
  12. I know very little about this, but my brother had kidney stones and they were able to do micro surgery. Outpatient work done in the Doctor’s office and he came home that evening. Keep a good thought, it may not be a worst case scenario. Here’s hoping for you. Happy whatever Holiday you like.
  13. It’s a nice write-up, but what does it look like? The thread said vehicle, so I’m imagining some kind of a team transport, but whether it’s a team car or a one man mech... Is there a real world military vehicle it resembles? Is this an A-Team style rebuild of a school bus with armor plating welded over it gunports everywhere and a big ass cannon on the roof? Or maybe it’s a futuristic multi tracked combat machine styled like an old episode of Thunderbirds. Write ups are only half the battle (as G.I. Joe might say) you need to engage the imagination of your players with a description that will get them excited about their character’s riding this beast into battle.
  14. Thanks, I wasn’t sure. Is that more toast under the eggs?
  15. OK...you can keep the beans, and the black pudding/sausage thing. I’ll trade the tomatoes for some hash browns. The eggs scrambled and add a short stack of pancakes w/real maple syrup....and what is that yellow thing in the middle? BTW, I’ll take my Spam on the side. Oh yeah, waitress! Coffee please instead of tea. Thanks!
  16. You need to go on YouTube and check out the band Kirby Crackle’s song “Great Lakes Avengers”.
  17. Yes it is. And watching you get tased by Security is even funnier.
  18. I’m not very familiar with the supplement in question, but I’ve found using real world locations as a reference to be easier for most players to visualize. You might try something like “the San Diego area” or “near Seattle”.
  19. Marvel Comics did this at least twice. The first was a Golden Age character revamped during the ‘80’s named Blue Diamond. He was blown up with a giant blue diamond by bad guys. The fragments imbedded in him and gave him strength and durability. A goofy origin I know, but it’s better than mongoose blood giving you super speed. The second and better known one is the alternate form of the White Queen from X-Men. Somehow this telepath has a “secondary mutation” that turns her into a living diamond. On second thought that’s pretty goofy too. You can look them up on the Marvel Database, a site run by Marvel that has listings for all their characters.
  20. I wasn’t happy with what the writers did with the Hal Jordan character either....but these wack-a-doos wrote letters that said they were going to kill the writer and burn down his house. That being said, my main point was to dispute Old Man’s assertion that “Doesn’t seem that people minded that much at the time.”
  21. You mean there were people who DIDN’T like “Cap’s kooky quartet”?
  22. Are you kidding me! Fanboys lost their freaking little minds when those happened! There were actual death threats against the guy writing the Kyle Rayner Green Lantern and let’s not forget “Death in the Family” where fans voted to kill Jason Todd. You’re remembering thru a rose colored lens, fans don’t like change and they complain that the stories are stale. Remakes always take a beating from fans at first. It’s only now that a TV show like Enterprise is starting to have people say “it wasn’t so bad” Star Trek shows like Discovery and Picard are take a beating when they first come out but in a few years passions cool and things get looked at objectively. I’m not saying everything new is automatically great but I know not to let the uproar keep me from something I may someday like....and there will always be an uproar.
  23. Comic Buyers Guide a newspaper for comic collectors that folded up shop about 15 years ago used to run a column called “The Law is an Ass” (the title taken from a Shakespeare quote) by comics writer Robert Ingersoll who also happened to be a lawyer. Each week would be about some legal point that came up in the comics world whether it was Daredevil’s secret ID Matt Murdock bungling a case or how Benton Quest kept Children’s Services from taking Jonny Quest away from a home where he was allowed to go into dangerous situations every week. Always informative and funny, I believe they’re still on line somewhere.
