  1. Here are my anti-6th edition opinions. Don’t know, and don’t care if they change your opinions. 1st edition thru 5th edition are basically the same game. 6th edition goes it’s own way. This is from a simulation type game to a more general gamist type of game. 1) Getting rid of figured characteristics. What is gained vs. what is lost? The mathematics become slightly simpler, for sure, but how many people still use Hero Designer? If the majority of players use HD that simplicity of mathematics is lost. 2) nerfing of Killing Damage. The Stun Multiplier goes from 1-5 tom1-3 and the PD/ED now removes from all damage both Killing and Normal. I don’t know about Hit Locations, they remain unchanged which doesn’t really make sense to me... 3) hexes get switched to meters. Hexes allow players to know exact distances, while meters only work for those born or used to using the metric system. I understand that many players use TotM when playing Hero System, but removing hexes and the exact patterns of area-effects that come using a hex grid and we have to ask, “why do we worry about exact distances when using meters?” I am tired and my heart is not into being so anti-HERO so I will stop here. There are other nits to pick but why bother.
  2. Ninja Hero 4th and Kazei 5 4th are also available on OBS. Could Western Hero and/or Horror Hero be far behind?
  3. Just an FYI but Fantasy Hero 4th, Fantasy Hero Companion 4th, and Bright Future 4th popped up on Drivethrurpg/RPGNow.
  4. The easiest game systems out there are either Tiny D6 (Tiny Dungeons, Tiny Frontiers or Tiny Wastelands), Advanced Fighting Fantasy 2e or the sci-fi version Stellar Adventures, or the OneDice system.. And maybe TWERPS or Dinky Dungeons...
  5. Big Blue Book FTW! I just take Megascale and Change Enviroment from 5th and remove bonuses from taking Packages and I am good to go...
  6. Since FGU's AFTERMATH and BUSHIDO use pretty much the same system (I think), this should help with converting from those games as well.
  7. Like others said: Supers rarely use a lot o skills. Heroic tends to be more skill heavy.
  8. I used to be a powergamer. During the last decade I switched over to building characters to simulate ‘real’ people. That is one of the reasons HERO has become such a favorite.
  9. Just an FYI kinda thing: — blade combat was emphasized in Traveller because it was used during shipboard combat. Guns were a no-no. Puncturing the hull and all that... — communication was not instantaneous. Ships got paid to deliver ‘mail’ which meant it took a week for every jump for a message to get to its destination.
  10. Take decks of cards, break them down to 12 cards with black suits and 12'cards with red suits. Take a number of red cards equal to SPD, and 12-SPD black cards. Shuffle them up and flip a card for each segment. People have the same SPD but they occur at random times. Worked the couple of times I tried it running 6th.
  11. Just wondering if anyone has any experience/tips running this setting back in the day. Thinking of running it with the BBB...
  12. In 4e, in the round off section, it says to round of in favor of the character. I have always interpreted this as "in favor of the character in question, whether PC or NPC." If you use a computer to figure out your character, it does not matter if your character is PC or NPC -- it is always in favor of the character...
  13. OCV + 3D6 - 10 vs DCV (Removes the need for subtracting a random # -- only subtract 10)
  14. If you absolutely, positively want to be wrong make a prediction set in 3 generations.
  15. i only occasionally use 6th edition, mostly use 4th edition, but have never used HAPs -- it is not why I use HERO... When I play FUDGE or D6 I use their equivalents of HAPs.
  16. Hyper-Man I would love for you to see Chapter 2 and revise your character -- I just watched it tonight and I believe his character has changed slightly...
  17. "Never go full-on retard."

  18. If you just want a coil-bound black and white copy, just send the PDFs to printme1.com. I forget the actual price, but it was about $25 for 1 volume. Cheap but it satisfied my purposes.
  19. I played HERO for the first time in 1983 with Espionage. No powers, but I loved the game -- players had a great time esp. with the firefights. Turn to 2012 - I picked up Champions Complete at my FLGS. Became a big fan of the system. Started a collecting rampage. Really liked the older editions. CHAMPIONS 3rd, STAR HERO, DANGER INTERNATIONAL, FANTASY HERO. Picked up the BBB and thought that was alittle to 'fiddly' for my tastes. And here I am...
  20. I have already ordered the CD, but a question: It looks like it contains the original 5e books, and it has a conversion document for 6e play -- is this correct?
  21. Could be taken from great battles: Stalingrad Midway Leyte Gulf Waterloo Gettysburg Aachen
  22. Already have the CDROMs of Classic Traveller and the Journal of the Traveller's Aid Society.
