Kesedrith reacted to LoneWolf in So how would you referee driving like this?:
That type of driving is more due to the fact he is driving a specially designed car.   You are not going to be able to do that in a Honda Accord. The car will probably require a highly skilled driver to control it.

If I were building that car I would probably have a very high combat speed and the advantage no turn mode.  Add the limitation requires a skill roll on the movement and possibly side effects of uncontrolled movement on a failed roll.   The car and the driver would both have a very high SPD as well.  The driver will obviously need a very high driving roll to handle the car.

In a Dark Champions game have the character buy the car using the vehicle rules. I don’t think you really need to create a new set of rules, the character just needs a car cable of doing that, and the skill to drive it.

Kesedrith reacted to Lord Liaden in Bronze or Iron
Unalloyed iron is actually softer than bronze. Its main advantage over bronze was its relative abundance, once forge technology had advanced to create enough heat to smelt it. When carbonization of iron was introduced, the resultant metal was harder than bronze, although also more brittle.

If playing in a world where ancient predecessor civilizations exist, one could even reverse the technological paradigm. The earlier civilization could forge iron and steel, but when they fell that knowledge was lost. "Modern" society is at Bronze Age technology, but weapons, tools and other artifacts of superior crafting can sometimes be found.

If your world features magic, more exotic materials could be fair game. In some of Poul Anderson's fantasy novels featuring elves, with their traditional vulnerability to iron and steel, they used magic to extract and work the likes of aluminum and titanium.

Wow. I was about to start working on this for 5th edition.
I have already used the custom system builder to start playing a little, but to have it managing more stuff like phases and END, excellent.
Let me know if there is anything I can do to help.
I am a professional developer and have been working with JS, CSS, HTML since the 1996.
I am also a graphic designer and have been using Illustrator and PhotoShop since 1993.

Kesedrith reacted to Durzan Malakim in Welcome to Hero Forum - Please Introduce yourself (especially Lurkers)
How did you come up with your 'handle' (forum name)? Durzan Malakim is the name of a Dungeons & Dragons Online character that I have ported over to several other games. I've grown so used to being "Durz" online it felt only natural to continue the tradition here.
What was the first tabletop RPG you played? Although I recall owning a copy of the 1977 Dungeons & Dragons basic set, I think I actually first played Advanced Dungeons & Dragons. As others have noted, it's often easier to indulge in the meta-game of character creation than to actually find and play in games.
What was the first tabletop RPG you GMed? I first GMed in college by running a game of GURPS Space where the plot was going to be inspired by (read: shamelessly stolen from) Dan Simmon's Hyperion novel. The PCs were supposed to travel from Earth to Mars to investigate some alien artifacts & ruins. Instead, the game became a Mutiny-on-the-Bounty scenario when the ship's PC captain used her socially-unacceptable psionic powers to uncover an NPC's secret involvement in a past murder. After ordering the NPC detained without cause, the other PC's thought she had gone mad and plotted to remove her. Oh the places PCs go...
What are you currently playing/GMing? I'm a player in a game of The Strange, where I cross into alternate realities and try to prevent the world from being devoured by cosmic-scale abominations. No pressure.

I'm also in the process of joining a Champions 6E game run by Steve. I look forward to putting on the costume again and rolling lots of D6.
When did you start to play Hero? I ran across the third(?) edition of Champions and fell in love with it. It was the one with this cover.

Hedy Lamarr. Seriously. Her work in jamming radio controlled torpedoes laid the groundwork for Bluetooth and WiFi.

How did you come up with your 'handle' (forum name)?
"Kesedrith" is a shortened, human-pronouncable version of the name of my dragon alter ego.  Hey, you asked.

What was the first tabletop RPG you played?
My first RPG was the old, original, red-boxed D&D set, back in 1979.  Yep, I'm one of those ancient-timers.

What was the first tabletop RPG you GMed?
The same as above.  I was the first GM, having no clue what to do, for my first gaming group.

    What are you currently playing/GMing?
Nothing.    I moved to the Cleveland, OH area from the Atlanta, GA area about three years ago and haven't had the time to find a group to join up here.  I'm trying to remedy this, so if you're in the Cleveland area.....
