  1. Re: Hero Talk Magazine Hello all, I apologize to anyone that might be waiting for part 2 of "Curse", but I wasn't satisfied with my own writing so I pulled it and I'm taking some time to read and explore emotion and manipulation in writing before I endeavor to complete my silly little story. On the plus side the campaign arc dealing with the hero talk covers is over so instead of continuing hero talk covers I've started making covers for the collectors issues(pivotal game sessions) so the heroes can see their own covers. It's like starting over again. These first two aren't that great, but it's a starting point.
  2. Re: Hero Talk Magazine This is Part one of Curse of the She-vampire. I'm still editing down part two and hopefully it'll be complete before Halloween. For those so inclined to read, please enjoy. The Doctor
  3. Re: Hero Talk Magazine Yes Shaddakim, I graduated and proceeded to find another way to send myself back to school for a couple more years. I was holding back this cover not wanting my pcs to see it before it actually happened, but why not? It leads to concern and anticipation of how it happens so enjoy the cover of issue 184. I shouldn't be updating any covers again until I bring out the article for "Curse of the She-Vampire" The Doctor
  4. Re: Hero Talk Magazine Well obviously that didn't work out as I'd planned. I didn't complete the story for Curse of the She-Vampire, chosing instead to focus in on my last year of school. The Hero Talk in our campaign continued on in the background and now I'm hoping to continue on with the last 12 issues of Hero Talk for my PCs and for those of you interested in our work. Last year I intended to post "She-Vampire" and I still intend to post it as a reprint for Halloween as well as "I, Defender" and one article to be determined later for our campaign. I hope you all enjoy and if any of you has any ideas that'll enchance the magazine or our campaign they're are always appreciated. The Doctor P.S. In the spirit of the slow march to the end of our earth 83 campaign here are issues 182 and 183
  5. Re: Earth 83 Ravenswood Campaign and Ideas for Sharing By the end of the year the students and teacher alike have figured out that Gracious Louca (the tall dark Eastern European) is in fact a bad guy and is also definitely up to no good, but luckily his intentions with Ravenswood were pure (so he says) and he owed Kristina a favor and he paid her this last debt by ensuring that she would have an appropriate replacement (One of the PCs). Gracious backs up his carpet bag and is gone as quickly as he came. With the school in his hands and a mountain of debt in front of him. The PCs have the skills to run the school, because Gracious slacked off so much that they had already been doing the Head Masters job. some of the things I threw at the pcs were a nemesis from the new Head Masters adventuring career has a teen and decides to enroll them in the program. The villains child falls in with a bad crowd of older students at the school and decides to run away with their new friends. I wouldn't want to deal with that parent. We also had Sun Heart return, but we changed his background a little. Rick was a Demi-brick whose parents brought him to the school when he was 15 totally unaware any powers, but knowing he would be treated differently because his eyes glowed all of the time. Noting that the boy had all the classic traits of a mutant Kristina admitted him to the school without running any test or asking for compensation. During the testing period her staff concluded that Rick was a minor Demi-brick at best and if not for his glowing eyes could have lead a normal life and never known he was different from anyone else. During his first year in school Rick fell ill after and encounter with a Daemon named Skoff in the abandoned Vandeliur Mansion just off of campus. Rick eventually got better, but the 20 pounds he lost during his illness never came back and healthy skin color never returned. During his meta trials the following year Rick performed as expected, but Professor Carbone noticed black swirls mingled within his amber energy signature. Shortly after this the school was sporatically attacked by alienish Daemons that the faculty came to know as the Srfish. The attacks were unusual in that they were all in secure areas only accessible to students and faculty and only after huge emotional events i.e. the expulsion of Timestepper, the abduction of professor Carbone, and the break up of Mindbar and Sun Heart. It didn't take Rowan long to deduce that the one consistent fact is that Sun Heart was at all these events and that he was nowhere to be found afterwards. Rowan decided that Sun Heart was inadvertently involved and put the theory to test by initiating the Damocles Scenario on Sun Heart without his being aware of it. Rowan got her proof in the fact that at a moment of extreme emotional stress during the Damocles Scenario Rick burst open lock a pinata and released two daemons into the simulator. The technician(Madame Celeste) thought that it was more than enough proof and began to shut down the system so they could capture the Daemons, but Kristina stopped her and urged her to go forward in the scenario Where to both there horror Rick loaded the simulator up with over 25,000 daemons and he was still going. That day they almost lost the school if Kristina hadn't brought Timestepper as a back up in case something went wrong(Even though she had been expelled a month earlier). Timestepper stopped the Daemon apocalypse that Kristina had triggered by reversing time on Rick to just before the Scenario started. After the simulation through Kristinas subtle manipulations and Madame Celestes mental massage all of the other students were steering clear of Rick and over the next year Rick was slowly becoming lonely and discontent. Kristina and her staff spent most of the next summer shadowing Rick and putting out the fires that he was leaving in his trail with the dispersal of Daemons when Rick was descended upon by a greater being know only as the Examiner and he put Rick in a type of stasis with the intent of taking him to another dimension and studying him. Kristinas staff was in place to attack the Examiner and re-aquire Sun Heart, but Kristina called them to stand down and allowed the Examiner to steal away the young boy. In the years since Kristina has fought with the decision she made that day and it drove a spike between her and Madame Celeste that would eventually lead Celeste to start her own school with her own dream.
  6. How we started off and the meta trials I mentioned in a previous post that our group had started a Ravenswood campaign where they started off as teachers and Kristina Pelvanon (mysteriously) died the night before the first day of school. The next day a talk dark man of eastern European origin(judging by accent) brought the news of Kristinas demise at Orientation as well as pink slips for 40% of the staff and revokes 50% of all student scholarships. This secretive M.I.B. was the source of much speculation and distrust, but more importantly he pawned off all of the headmaster duties to the remaining staff that already had an encumbered normal class load to go along with increased responsibilities Now that they had to double as student advisors. During the course of this year the students found animated dead bodies under the campus, got picked on by Senior football player Black Steel, had energy parasites put students in coma like trances and fight for positions on 1 of 6 Ravenswood Teams in their meta trials. In our Ravenswood We decided that there were roughly 1500 students, but typically at any given time up to 50 students were metas and Ravenswood offers up to 6 teams with team one being the highest (or senior squad) and team 6 being the lowest (or freshmen squad). The meta trials are a battery of tests(Wits, Skill Set, and Raw Power) and psychological evaluation used to place each kid either on a team or training by him/herself for the year. The review board for the meta trials typically include the headmaster, three alternative faculty members and the school psychologist.
  7. Re: Earth 83 Ravenswood Campaign and Ideas for Sharing I am also republishing the user friendly acceptance letter that Publius created and the Campus map with pics provided by Dr. Anomally and Campus that I found online.
  8. First In our Ravenswood campaign the pcs play both a teacher and a student to give the pcs more of a omniscience and they get to see both sides of different situations. One of the things that I like is to have teachers help the headmaster every year recruiting metas and sometimes one shot adventures are to recruit new meta humans. The process for me forces the pcs to get to see and interact with a potential student and deal with that individuals situation and even if they don't directly deal with that student again it gives the student body a certain amount of depth so I enclosed my campaigns last second year hit list as put together by Bernard Finkle(Executive Asst.) and Robin Twittle(Adminstrative Asst.) to Kristin Pelvanon. I have to get the size down and I'll upload the others later
  9. Before I go on I just wanted to state that I have pulled many things from several valuable sources and none of those more valuable than my fellow posters and to all those with campaigns sights filled with pics and characters like Doctor Anomally and Theses Castle Walls as well as to those that contributed to other threads I've started like Publius for this pdf files and touch of realism to everything he does. I would also like to thank the creator of the Lothlorien site even though I can't remember you name at the moment, brilliant stuff one and all.
  10. Re: Zombie Apocalypse! This Sunday I played in Zombie Apocalypse I was one of only a hand full of people to make it out of my trailer park alive and I'm currently rolling down the street O.J. style in an armored up White Bronco with my characters best buddy and his preteen son (Turkey) enroute to the Exotic Dance Club my girlfriend works at. Krim?

Re: Krim? Yes! I can picture that....something like this.
  12. Re: Who are the top 5 most powerful characters in your Campaign. The 5 most powerful beings from earth 83 that the pcs have met or heard of are: PRIMUS: This being is our campaigns equiv. of Galactus only instead of being considered a force of nature he is an agent of the existential being referred to as Death and charged with making sure the balance of life never goes out of her favor. Torg: Is a hulking alien criminal mastermind who's mind has been wiped and crippled to the point of a mild retardation or 4 year old child with a violence inhibitor installed in his brain. He was then dropped off on the earth by the Liverians Galactic Tribunal for his crimes against sentient life and currently roams the halls of the Champions base like 12 foot tall puppy looking for something to get into.(Torg is a timebomb, but as long as the pcs have him no one else is trying to reactivate his mind). Gracious Louca: Was a hero in the 1940's and original member of Freedom Force. He always had a natural aptitude for magic and quickly became an apprentice mage to the Earths Sorceror Supreme. Gracious was constantly coming in second to the Sorcerors younger and less experienced apprentice Vincente Dimitrious which was slowly filling the young order mage with jealous and hate. This little speck of envy was all a being known as The Black Enchantress needed to seduce the young mage into joining her plot to steal the Helm of Krim out of Freedom Forces vault. They failed in gaining the Helm, but it sent Gracious on a downward spiral that eventually lead him to hunting down fellow order mages for their power bases(Their pocket dimensions are the source of their power and the energies used to cast their magics are replensihed by Lord Order if he deems the expendature worthy). Lord Order will not replenish Gracious any longer so he is typically hooked up to 6 or 7 pocket dimensions at a time and always on the look out for items of power to sustain his immortal existence. Signus: This is 25 year old Harold Brody from the Mutant Files supplement. In my campaign he wasn't killed by Genocide only seriously wounded, because the Mutant Liberation Front made off with the virtually lifeless body of the the 11 year old before Genocide could finish him off. The MLF and their twisted leader the Deacon raised Harold as his own son and taught him how to push his considerable powers to their very limit, while filling the boys head with his militant doctrine. Signus is now thought to be dead after an attempt to march 600 metahumans into New York and claim it as a meta-utopia failed when his adopted father shot him in the head just when it seemed that victory was assured. The Human Dynamo: I guess you can call the human Dynamo our superman clone because he's not really human. The Human Dynamo is a Malvan. That's the same super advance warrior race as Fire Wing, the Malvan have an artifact that is the culmination of their races knowledge: The Wisdom Stones. These stones are foughts are constantly sought and fought over by warring factions within Malvan Society. 66 years ago during a blood feud led to the executions of many in their elder council and the last of the elders charged Guan Tal(Human Dynamo) to take the stones somewhere safe and protect them. Guan Tal took them to a small water covered planet cover with Bipeds he could try to pass himself off as. Upon arriving on earth Guan Tal buried them in a crater of an artillary range on Fort Bliss in Texas and before he could finish hiding the stones The real Human Dynamo and his partner Lady Liberty along with their Squad of 12 patriots(super soldiers) descended upon what they thought was a Nazi super spy and Guan acting out of concern for the stones killed them all in a mater of seconds except one Patriot and Lady Liberty before she could gain control of his mind. With 30 million dollars worth of super soldiers dead the government had only one choice. They told Lady Liberty to change his memories and make him think that he's the Human Dynamo and not let him remember the super sonic speed, laser eyes, the flying or any of the other highly fantastic things he could do(it was the 1940's back then super people just had one power). He maintained this identity for over 60 years, but not to long ago he watched his daughter fly for the first time and he realized that he could too. It was just a short jaunt after that to a nursing home occupied by the woman that used to be Lady Liberty and she gave him back his memories. PRIMUS 8500 pts Torg 1500 pts Gracious 1200 pts Signus 1050 pts Dynamo 950 pts
  13. Re: Songs that inspire(d) you to make a Champions Character Oddly enough, I built a villain after hearing the song "Grace Kelly" by Mika.
  14. Re: Treasure Trove of Cool Old Hero/Champions Stuff That I Found Thank you Corpse, I'd rep you, but I am still unable to....so in lew of rep I will pay you a compliment. You have very nice type set!
  15. Re: ideas/name for my character? What was the name of the project he was working on? A lot of times my name comes from something in the characters origin and the sonic angle has already been explored.
  16. Re: Designing a show stopping villain I agree. Death Punch is direct and darn scary. I'm just saying...what's the one thing you don't want a guy named Death Punch to do? Repped.
  17. Re: "Your girlfriend works for VIPER!" Huh? Congrats, Ghost Angel on your 10,000th post. Scifi, I say go for it! As long as you have the integrity of your game within your sights. Sometimes as game masters we have really cool ideas, but our players aren't developed enough or we haven't thought through the different aspects of a particular subplot: Does it maintain consistency with the tone you've set up for the campaign, is the sub-plot suitable for this player character at this time and are you willing to commit to the "GOOSH". A "GOOSH" is a sub-sub plot buried so deep that sometimes it can last for years in the background of a campaign. If the pcs aren't particularly diligent in their observations of all the little things that would make you question a persons motivations or secret life. When I planted a GOOSH in our campaign I had the NPC ask the player(Aylwin13) out socially in game play after a particularly unusual first encounter where the NPC had given off the vibe that she was definitely more than an ancillary character. From there on the biggest thing was having that character be true to themselves while remaining interesting and fresh, because if the PC breaks up with the GOOSH before they can piece together the deception the fork is lost and I kind of assume you're wanting to play this for the fork. You know the point where the PC understands the level of deception they have been blind to and that their signficant other not only didn't harm the PC when they could have, but may have actually helped them a time or two out of love or loyalty or whatever. Thus giving the PC a series of questions to answer and none of them are good. Should the PC lock up the love interest or should they let this person that could have done them some serious damage go and hope that it doesn't bite them in the butt. GOOD LUCK!!! I'd love to know what happened if you go for it. TD
  18. Re: Hero Talk Magazine I agree Zornwil and I've been waiting for Aaron Alston to come out with a Hero Talk campaign with his own characters and situations. Like I said before when I wrote up the more essential NPCs for our campaign they're characters themselves, although not actually played by a PC it's the subtext theat gives them depth. Sam for example is a DRIVE IN HERO character, always managing to get himself in the most unholy of circumstances and barely surviving with some moral or life lesson. The Doctor
  19. Re: Help Gauntlet Absolutlely brilliant 80's pop culture reference!
  20. The New Issue This is Issue 170 and from this cover I'm currently writing Curse of the She-Vampire. More than likely I'll split it into two parts like Who's the Master was. I'll have Decembers cover out in a week or so. The Doctor
  21. Re: Suggestion Box: name our Teen Champions team The Offspring Youth Brigade The Junior Protectors The New Guardians Young Bucks The Doctor
  22. Re: Justice Machine Sourcebook? Correct!! I'm stuck in hero system, but since you brought up Justice Inc. I'll reiterate. I am up for it! Justice Machine sounds good too.
  23. Re: Justice Machine Sourcebook? I am up for Justice Machine and Danger International since were discussing rewrites. I must warn you that pdfs leave me a bit cold. I prefer a slickened and bound book with lively cover art that has been printed up by someone other than myself. The Doctor
  24. Re: plot: a cougar at a sports event Sounds interesting. Please go on!
  25. Re: Hero Talk Magazine It should be noted that in our campaign Sheri is not just an NPC she was also a Dark Champions character living a secret life as a punisher type vigilante in a man suit to protect her ID until she met Aylwin13s character and she attempted to go straight(she put down her padded man suit). Everything was wonderful and Sam Dalton even got Sheri to let it slip that she was in love with Aylwins character in an interview he did with her for her 40th birthday. To make a long story short Aylwin and his team of heroes get their active agent status suspended by PRIMUS and they decide to strike out on their own so Sheri funds his characters new armor since PRIMUS is no longer footing the bill. It's around this time that Aylwins nemesis finds out that his girlfriend is actually a "bad guy" and tries to black mail her with the info. Sheri wasn't really concerned about the police having acknowledged the fact that they would eventually catch up with her anyway, but she had to tell Aylwins character before his rival could and when she told Aylwin her secret he didn't turn her into the authorities, but he did break up with her. The only reason I mention this is because in my campaign if you can't tell by the articles the Champions totally disbanded about 5 years ago and Aylwins business manager called in a favor from Defender and that's the group theyare trying to start up again. During the next year of interviews and cover Sheri covers just about every team and solo hero EXCEPT the CHAMPIONS starting with The Protectors in ISSUE 169. The Doctor
