  2. Re: The New Champions (Marvel) The artist is Mitch Foust. He's a local artist here in Memphis, and a helluva nice guy. I've got several of his prints. He has a website, www.mitchfoust.com .
  3. Re: Marvel Universe trivia How about this: The Red Skull contacts the Mad Thinker and "contracts" him to place the Skull's consciousness into the body of the Super Adaptoid. That gives the Skull the powers of several Avengers along with his own evil genius. After the Skull-Adaptoid thrashes the Avengers, the Unipower manifests in Captain America and he then mounts a furious comeback. Until the Skull-Adaptoid adapts the Unipower as well. Then the fun really starts.
  4. Re: Jennifer Lopez, supervillian Well that's different. I can't say that I ever thought of turning J-Lo evil (well, eviller), but she wasn't really a major "star" when I was GMing. I did have this plan to use KISS as a "touring DEMONhame" of sorts. Make their tour manager the Morbane, the KISS Army is full of Brothers and Initiates, and of course the members of KISS get the powers they had in KISS Meets the Phantom of the Park. Maybe the 4 members have a "group power" to bring their music to life, transforming random fans into embodiments of some of their more popular songs: Deuce, Strutter, War Machnie, God of Thunder, etc.
  5. Re: Need help naming Enviornmentalist team. In my campaign, I called the evil environmentalists The Forces of Nature.
  6. Re: Need a new team name. I used the name Street Legal for a vigilante team once upon a time and I've always liked it. Depending on the scope of the game (local heroes vs. natonal or global), it might work for a "kids" team. Especially if they see themselves as a type of gang.

  8. Re: Dark Champions: Secret Worlds What is this? No updates for almost 2 weeks??? Hast thou forsaken us, Neil? If I don't get an explanation and / or update soon, I'm going to have to bust out the bad reputation points! Don't make me!
  9. In his first appearance (as ERG1), Wildfire was the ultimate metamorph. He could grow, shrink, stretch, etc. He was actually turned down for membership because his powers duplicated those of other Legion members. I don't think he showed his EBs until he unleashed everything at once and emptied his suit. After that, he was granted Legion membership "posthumously". I also believe that later he could only pull off those metamorph tricks with "special" containment suits, to keep him from stepping on toes every month.
  10. I know these campaign write-ups take a lot of time and effort, so it's really not fair to be asking "where's the latest". But, where's the latest?? Come on, you've got me hooked here!
  11. I made a group like this for a Gen Con adventure I never ran. It was a follow-up to a Gen Con adventure I did run, so some of the stuff only really makes sense in that context. But any way. The leader was Vampyre, who wasn't really a vampire but just needed a name that started with "V" and a theme that wouldn't be recognized and attributed to him (one of those context things). He really hammed up the Hollywood Dracula act, including the white face makeup and widow's peak hairstyle. His powers were similar to Black Shadow from the Wild Cards series (heat and light absorption to all physical characteristics, darkness linked to the absorption, cold-based EB and RKA, etc.). There was Requiem, who was a sonic EBer. Probably very similar to your Dirge. There was Captain Patriot's Radioactive Zombie (another context thing). Captain Patriot was the mentor of one of the PCs, and he was killed in the previous Gen Con adventure. Vampyre was attempting to use a stolen govt. weapon prototype to raise the dead as his servants (a bunch of minor villains also got killed in the previous adventure) and he wanted to try it out on someone he wouldn't mind losing if it didn't work. So really, any NPC that was killed in your game (that would also be good for shock value) could be used. There was Gargoyle, who was, basically, a psychic energy construct that resembled a typical gargoyle. "It" had Flight, Desolidification, and an HA/HKA that was defended by Mental Defense instead of PD. There was Graveyard, who was a powerful telekinetic limited to items you could find in a cemetary. I think he had a Flash vs. Sight (dirt), an HA (tombstones), and an RKA (bones). He might have had a Force Wall as well, to simulate him throwing various things in front of attacks, like tombstones of coffin lids (or bodies, I suppose). He also carried a shovel, but he couldn't fight HTH worth a damn. I just like giving the players something to think about for a few minutes. There was Revenant, who was also pretending to be an undead ghost-like being so that he could get close enough to Vampyre to find out if he was the one Revenant was looking for. He was based on the D&D monster, loosely. He had some "patrial desolid" abilities, such as high DCV and Damage Reduction (maybe you hit something that was partially in phase, or maybe your attack went right through him) and an NND HKA choke hold. And lastly, there as 13. She was the black cat familiar of a super-witch from the first adventure. Her powers were more plot device than anything else. She absorbed "good luck" from the PCs, which would manifest itself in a bonus to DVC (1 or 2 points) and a decrease in damage taken(+3 PD and ED, non-resistant) by the villains. After a few phases of this, she would transform into a panther-like monster. But the "luck eating" would continue until, eventually, she transformed into a human witch, Jinx. Jinx had all sorts of magic powers. There were several others that I toyed around with before settling on this lineup. A sorcerror-brick mummy, a reconstituting skeleton creature (you basically had to remove him from the cemetary to stop him), and a "blood elemental" which I wrote up shortly after seeing Blade 2 and then decided it was too much like Blade 2.
  12. Nothing like jumping in at the last minute. Going off of these poll results, may I present .... Spy-Buster! In an attempt to create a homefront "super-soldier" to root out spies and saboteurs during the early days of the United States' involvement in WWII, the vice-president's personal mechanic was approached by the Army and convinced to undergo the Victory Treatment. The Treatment resulted in him gaining nigh-superhuman strength, speed, reflexes, and toughness. Using a combination of military intelligence and his mechanic friends he rooted out Nazi sympathizers and delivered them to Justice! On his first "official" mission he picked up a wrench used to tighten bolts on U.S. aircraft and has used it as a weapon ever since (rumors of him using it to repel enemy gunfire may or may not be true). Cut to .... Modern Times. A beautiful woman dressed in a fashion reminiscent of the World War II hero Spy-Buster (dark colors, black cowl/cape combination, heavy gloves and boots) and carrying a (slightly smaller) aircraft wrench has been wreaking havok on U.S. military industrial sites throughout the world. She uses this wrench to focus her electro-magnetic powers to disrupt electronic and computer systems as well as it being a weapon in her hands. She speaks with a foreign accent (French, maybe), and calls herself .... Sabotage! Is she really French, or is she attempting to escalate the tension already existing between the United States and France? And why is she dressed like Spy-Buster???
  13. Thanks! No real comments on the campaign itself (which sounds great, by the way). Just wanted to say thanks to RDU Neil for taking the time to post these recaps. I'm having flashbacks to the late RJMHughes' World of Dark Champions summaries which were always enjoyable to read. Especially for those of us with no active gaming lives. Can't wait for the next installment (or 5)!

    NND & defense

I believe that, by the book, just having the defense is enough. There is no "minimum requirement". If the NND is defended by Flash (Sight) Defense, than any amount will stop the attack. Note that several NND attacks will be stopped by "defenses" that have no number value, such as Life Support or Immunity.
