  1. Re: Interesting article about Sexism in Geek Communities Got her.
  2. Re: Interesting article about Sexism in Geek Communities I'm not sure males get to announce that things are getting better; it's not like w ever experienced them as being worse. I've being to going cons or various sorts for more than 20 years and I've never seen any harassment to speak of, but that doesn't mean it wasn't there. These days I keep weather eye out for it, but again it's not likely to happen when I'm looking.
  3. Re: Interesting article about Sexism in Geek Communities Good grief that sucks.
  4. Re: Interesting article about Sexism in Geek Communities Amounts to the same thing.
  5. Re: Interesting article about Sexism in Geek Communities Not even sure what to say. Men are creeps. Beginning to think we should bifurcate the country give one half to each gender and permit no one to cross the border. There may be benefits to women of having men around, but they do not outweigh the drawbacks Given that reproductive technology means procreation no longer requires physical contact, this is not a barrier to sustainablity. Child contracts arranged by matching services, payment to women who agree to have sons to ship back across the border. I could be worked out. Women would not have to put up with male creeps, and men would no longer have the chance to be creeps to women. With modern technology we could even go back and modify literature and movies and such so that children growing up in either state would never even be made aware of the other gender until after high school.

  7. Re: Interesting article about Sexism in Geek Communities Not sick of the thread, just sick of the abuse heaped on women. I'm not fond of abuse heaped on men, children,or animals, either, but the fact that the portion of humanity that feel it is socially acceptable or even virtuous to engage in that sort of behavior toward women in particular is infuriating.
  8. Re: Query's Art & Stuff Thread Her Melt's Mom goes into a catatonic state every time she learns that Ivy has powers and them wakes up with amnesia about the revelation. No, Melt is not doing it to her.
  9. Re: Query's Art & Stuff Thread She does have several flavors of "see with your mind" but the mask is just one-way transparent.
  10. Re: Query's Art & Stuff Thread Another character from my Teen Champions Campaign: Melt (as in Melt your brain)
  11. Re: Last Dance With Mary Jane... Given where I live, first I'd have to check to see if the weed was owned by any of the local law enforcement or elected officials. Ahem: Nightwatch: Is the law, but in his time period, Weed isn't illegal. Thunder: Could care less.
  12. Re: Quote of the Week From My Life. I have a coworker who is literally a blabbermouth. She never stops talking, even to chew her food and eveything she says at the top of her lungs. Worse nothing she has to say is actually useful or interesting. No one in the department can stand being around her for any period of time. Me: You know that's irritating. Her: What's irritating? Me: The fact that you never stop talking. Her: What do you mean. I'm a quiet person. Me: Being stuck in a room with you is like having my ears stuffed with rabid weasels.
  13. Re: Royal Pain Masquerade copies everything down to DNA and mind patters. As for the rest, you're moving the goalposts.
  14. Re: Royal Pain Masquerade: Swipes the kid's papers, mimics his shape and powers (Mimicry shapeshift). Goes to his hom country and assumes thr throne in him place. She then call the little git an imposter and revokes his diplomatic immunity. She then finds some responsible and competent in his home country to abdicate rule to.
  15. Re: If accused of terrorism and emprisonned into Stronghold This is similar to a character concept I've not yet had the chance to play. In my scenario, Lilith DesJArdin is a bomb-tech racing to the scene of a terrorist bomb when the bomb goes off killing hundreds of people. Lilith is not physically hurt in the blast but the sudden traumatic death of so many people triggers her latent abilities. effectively turning her into a second bomb. When additional rescuers arrive on the scenes she is staggering around completely out of her mind unleashing terrible power in all directions, she kills a dozen people before finally passing out. She wakes to find herself an unwilling superhuman and an helpless menace. Completely distraught, she offers no defense at her trial and gets thrown in prison. She figures she's a less a danger in there. While in in prison she learns to control her powers and use them in self defense. Then the time comes that she learns of several superhuman prisoners planning to start a riot and escape, killing guards and the warden on the way. She arranges to interpose herself between the villains and their victims, and thwarts the riot. This has two salutary effects on her future. First she attracts the attention of a lawyer who attempts to get her released on the basis that she never got a fair trail. Second, the other inmates hate her so much that they start trying to kill her. After landing in the hospital several times, the state finally recognizes that they cannot provide for her safety. By way of elegant compromise they release her on intensively supervised parole. She is to serve out her life sentence as an unpaid and unrecognized weapon for a superhero team (other PCs). This gives her a chance to redeem herself and eventually win her freedom.

  17. Re: [4E] Worst Disad The worst disad I ever heard of was a 50 point mystery disadvantage. I will let Teh Benneh tell the story because it is his to tell. For my part my brother used to routinely take 30pts. "Crap the GM is going to do to me whether I want him to or not."
  18. Re: Quote of the Week from my gaming group... If this conversation was being held in Ivy's earshot... Don't tell me. She's standing right behind me, isn't she?
