1. Re: Has anyone tried doing an Hyborian/Conan game using Fantasy Hero I am using Savage Worlds for my new Sword and Sorcery game. Initially started out Hero but I wanted a change. My next Harn game will use Hero - probably finally take the plunge into 6th ed.
2. Re: Do any of you still play 4th edition and FH Circa 1990? I have all the 6th Ed stuff. I am just not that fussed about using it.
3. Re: I hate naming villages/Kingdoms I love translations:) Taumatawhakatangihangakoauauotamateaturipukakapikimaungahoronukupokaiwhenuakitanatahu means The summit where Tamatea, the man with the big knees, the climber of mountains, the land-swallower who travelled about, played his nose flute to his loved one
4. Re: Do any of you still play 4th edition and FH Circa 1990? I have been thinking of just sticking with 4th Edition seeing as it has served me well enough for the last twenty odd years.
5. Re: I hate naming villages/Kingdoms Here just have Taumatawhakatangihangakoauauotamateaturipukakapikimaungahoronukupokaiwhenuakitanatahu.
6. Re: Fantasy worlds you had to "rework" years later once you've grown up and knew bett I can
7. Re: Fantasy worlds you had to "rework" years later once you've grown up and knew bett Maybe if you ever retire back to NZ you can GM a new game here:)
8. Re: 6E - Low Fantasy Hero - Game Balance Issues - Advice Requested You can also get characters to spend points on things like Area Knowledges (they have spent three weeks in some town trudging around shops, inns and so forth then they learn something about the place). Likewise languages, Knowledges about people and politics. Of course, you have to give them reason to realise that non-combat skills are important too. Don't forget making the combat tanks suffer from DCV modifiers and so forth (If they insist on fighting with all their travelling and camping gear on their backs add some more negative modifiers - there was a reason armies had baggage parks).
9. Re: New to running a Fantasy Hero game I usually give 1-3 per adventure session (which may be over several game sessions). On occasion, when players make me laugh, grovel to me about some game mechanic or other or otherwise amuse me I also give out fractions of an XP. They do add up. Conversely - pointing out GM inconsistencies usually gets fractions of points removed:)
10. Re: Would you marry a near-human alien? Would I marry a near human alien? What a stupid question. I already did. She certainly isn't from Earth. There can be consequences to intra-species intimacy though. http://www.roboticbees.com/2010/04/schwimmer-jones-strange-bedfellows/ and http://www.roboticbees.com/2010/05/schwimmer-jones-the-dawn-patrol/
11. Re: Looking for a source of Victorian Miniatures Only six years out of date but check http://www.oldglory25s.com and check out their 28mm Westwind figures. Great Victorian figures in the Dr Jekyll and Mr Hide and Jack the Ripper ranges.
12. Re: Your favorite SF gear. And don't forget a towel.
13. Re: Your favorite SF gear. You need to read The Killing. A Strontium Dog story in 2000AD comic. The Napalm Blister Blaster (both sizes) featured.
14. Re: The fine Elven Mithril/Mithral Shirt from the Lord of the Rings movie The Cave troll might have rolled 3 bod or some other crap roll. Happens all the time in my games.
15. Re: Your favorite SF gear. My characters always go for a Napalm Blister Blaster. For a backup weapon it is always a Bigger Napalm Blister Blaster.
16. Re: Megastructures: Bigger-Than-Worlds I always wondered why the aliens who built the ringworld went all artistic and made maps of various planets. In the case of Earth, are there special climate controls that makes the Arctic cold.
17. Re: Help Poplulate: Pirate Ship edition You forgot Master Bates, Seaman Stains and Roger the Cabin Boy.
18. Re: Submitted for your approval: 10 too human aliens. I would say the freakiest 'too human aliens' would be teenagers.
19. Re: Turkanian Age and Champions Yeah - he really gave him a basting.
20. Re: Raven: Swordmistress of Chaos Well, Raven would have to be the only fictional character I would like to bang but that may have had something to do with Chris Achillios' interpretations of the character. I enjoyed the books and even created a larger map for roleplaying in that world. Who can't like the rievers of Kragg and the debauchery of the Altan's palace?
21. Re: Need a Map How about this? I have more.
22. Re: What is the best way to stat out a minefield? What I really need is to STAT out a banquet the PCs are attending. Should it be an area affect DEX drain (as they get stuffed with food) with a triggered EGO drain if they touch alcohol? Or should I just say you ate and drank your fill?
23. Re: What is the best way to stat out a minefield? People make things so complicated. Is there a need to stat out a minefield? Is it part of a base? If not, just have your mine's killing attack nd6K activate on a 8-. Perhaps make a roll for the PC based on their PER to step on the mine and realise what they have done.
24. Re: Turakian Age Map What about a large size PDF? Like the one Kelestia Productions produced for the Harn setting?
