1. Eel aka Fish Guy is a brick, not much in range or land movement (Good leaper though) so he might have some trouble. That said, he could do a ground stomp (A gentle one) and knock a small group of them on their asses. A smarter move might be to lock a few doors and guard the remaining exit. It would take a long while but getting past him would not be easy. Still, I'd be surprised if he even caught a third of them. He would definitely give a 'what the hell is wrong with you, people' speech while sending for back up. Top priority would be to make sure no innocents got stampeded. Pogo- isn't as experienced as some, but if she kept her head and found her groove? She'd bounce around like a fricking pinball and clobber one squad of thieves after the other, chattering the whole time. She'd have a much better capture score than Eel. She might also knock down a lot of merchandise from shelves... but "crime stopped, you're weeelcome!" Aspirant- A telepath, Aspirant would realize he couldn't tag that many minds but then he wouldn't need to. Read thoughts, takes names, plans, and addresses, and either inform the police, or, if he feels particularly cruel, go talk to each individual's mother later that evening. Lady Obsidian - Matriarch of the team with force projecting power armor has this easily. Force domes, entangles for individuals or groups? And yes, if need be blocking the doors. They would not have a chance. And then they'd get that disappointed church lady lecture that would just.. just crush them! Trailblazer - Another speedster (a runner) with fire blazing abilities... she has some anxieties and might be worried she'll mess up and hurt someone. So, it all depends if she makes her ego check so to speak. If she makes it? She hits her playlist for crowd control to find her center (Most likely the song "Riot" by the Dead Kennedy's. It's SUPER Old but Pinprick suggested it and she found she liked it). Speedsters are good at crowd control, Area of Effect blasting speedsters? I estimate she would get 80 % of them. Now if she failed that Ego roll? She gets maybe 30% herself, and a few of them have some really bad burns and will need medical attention. She's working on it! Pinprick - He would have a blast. He can be a jerk sometimes, and he would go for not just take downs, but humiliating take downs. The diminutive magic archer would shrink folks so they felt the store was a giant maze. He'd target belt buckles for a ranged take away and leave them with pants around their ankles. You want to leave? Too late, doors are already locked thanks to arrows wedged just right. Oh a few might make it out, sure, but the would be thieves are about to be caught on security cameras and soon will be on the web as laughing stocks. Actions like this may explain why Pinprick has a decently sized 'hunted' list Valorosa - Another Brick, but one who relies on Density shifting. There are no barriers that stop her, that's for sure. If one seemed to be acting as a ring leader she'd target that one first and then take him down as a demonstration, announce to the others anyone who put their stolen goods down NOW could keep their faces from hitting floor. How well the PRE attack goes varies but it can't hurt. Besides, she now has their ringleader, trusting that detective work (Or a telepathic friend) could help uncover who was arranging these things and how to track down the members. She's not the detective her Uncle is, but she is no slouch.
2. Oh for Superhero movie with SHAMELESS product placement? While it is not DC, I must point you to the 2017 Power Rangers. Take a drink everytime they mention or show something related to Krispy Kreme... and you risk serious harm to your liver.
3. I had heard things were tense behind the scenes before this, but always good to get more details. The more I hear of Modi, the more he alarms me.
4. Holy Forking Shirtballs... A Canadian citizen was killed on Canadian soil by (At least allegedly) agents of the India Government https://www.theglobeandmail.com/politics/article-canadian-authorities-have-intelligence-that-india-was-behind-slaying/
5. "See that stagecoach? It's taking a USB Stick with a company's weekly haul of Bitcoin credentials to a bank in San Fransisc-y. Only they ain't never gonna REACH San Fransiscy." "Why not? They using Apple Maps?"
6. I do love the Shadow Queen as she's a fantastic Maleficient homage. And yes, though I think MORE Master villainesses would be great, HERO games does deserve props for putting more effort into it than often occurs in mainstream comic books. Dr. Destroyer works for me more for the politics around him and his minions than Dr. Destroyer himself. Fanatical footsoldiers, elite level supervillains who could be masters themselves if they renegaded like Menton did (And survived) and so on but I agree he lacks the depth of Doom by himself. Dr. D is sometimes more like a heavy gas giant to me... it's the orbits he creates that bring out my creative side as a game master. Istvatha V'han is probably my 'ethical conqueror' type in my games but even then I work more through her generals for the PCs to face, at least at first. But when the heroes do meet her, they learn she absolutely wants to help everyone... and all it will cost them is their unswerving obedience. She wants to prevent worlds hunger, eradicate disease, and uplift primitive species; nevermind that for 'the greater good' she'll starve a planet if she has to, or order a virus loose on a rebel reality, or crush a planet's civilization back to the stone age if defied. She'll still keep her word.
7. On the less jokey/funny villains that are still annoying: One player I knew, loathed the character Nebula. The zealous space cop who sent anyone and everyone who committed any 'crime' to Space hell. I don't mean just their character, but the player himself did not like the 'either have the right defenses or you're going to Duress' set up annoyed them as well. I confess, she's not my favorite either for similar reasons but I would like to think I've made her work the one or two times I've used her. In the past, I've disliked Gravitar and her blunt hammer "I have power so I will single handedly take over the world" angle, but some excellent suggestions from my fellow hero philes on these boards, and some growth in official works alike have eased that. Still one of my least favorite master level villains, which is a shame as we can always used more women among master villain level ("Glory to V'han")
8. Really, the term 'epic' gets used too lightly but in this case... this has truly been an amazing epic.
9. He seemed like a decent guy as well as a fine entertainer. Condolences to his loved ones
10. Well, Jaime's family has always been a big part of his narrative in the comics. So in this case, I would have been upset if they weren't involved, Zany or otherwise.
11. I went to see it last night in the theater. Not many people there, but I confess that was a perk for me on the selfish side. I enjoyed it. I'd say it's comparable to Shazam for quality, though I liked Shazam just a wee bit better. One thing I did like was that Ted Kord gets some props. We don't see him, but he is spoken of and in this movie he has a daughter. And at least one of Jaime's family is something of a fan. HIS tech gets some use too, so if you're hoping to see a certain vehicle, it's a kick. Jaime is very likable, and the actor who portrays him is charismatic enough to do the part justice. Ted Kord's sister, Victoria, is not a nice person. Our main villainess is utterly ruthless and cold hearted, and not even the resentment she feels towards her late father over his own chauvinism redeems her even a bit. Which I love. Not every villain should be redeemable. Obviously she has her own 'dragon' which I will not elaborate on. I will say they leave out a lot of the Scarab's full back story... but they were probably saving that for a sequel. Lot of humor, some of which landed better than others. Some genuine pathos attempts, again some landed better than others. I'd give it a 7 out of 10.
12. Yeah, take care of yourself, Logan And sorry about the paperwork
13. Much as I love him, I've had to cut down on my use of Foxbat for my players' sake
14. Ah, helping but a drop in the bucket of what's needed. Thanks for the link!
15. I saw a clip where candidates were asked if they'd support Trump even if he was convicted. Only TWO refused to support Trump if he was convicted. I confess, I got ill at that.
16. My apologies. Didn't see this till now. RL kind of hammered my household this summer In truth, I actually got to think of involving a time traveler in the origin of this city. Mind you, the down side is folks more versed in temporal physics than I (Which is just about 90% of the people on these boards I suspect ;0) ) may explain how that that wouldn't work because of this paradox but it did warm up in my old noodle
17. I am the soul of not surprise on this one. Does make me wonder what will happen with what's left of Wagner.
18. Bollywood sends 30 brave performing volunteers to that spot on the moon, do a big musical number, record it, and goes home!
19. Good to know! I spent some time in the mid to late 80s there before moving thus my memories are all I have of the area. Glad they improved Flood Control. Speaking of Lake Mead, I am guessing this is helping it's recently dwindling water levels catch up again?
20. Props to India for landing spacecraft on the Southpole of the Moon! The first to successfully land in that area https://www.space.com/india-chandrayaan-3-moon-landing-success
21. Two of our Household got it a week ago, now a third. This with shots and one of them wearing masks to this day despite the weird looks she gets.
22. Geez lou wheeze Pardon, that wasn't helpful. I used to live in North Las Vegas. I remember my mom scoffing when my grandfather told her of flooding there. She said there just wasn't that much rain there for flooding. However what we learned she didn't consider was that much of the ground was pretty hard baked. It didn't drink in the water as quickly as the soil we had been used to. So yeah, it could flood. And that was minuscule compared to this
23.
“To Nadiya Brightbringer, Goddess of Hope, I give: Rose Colored Glasses and Undying Light.
"What's this? What's this, an undying light? What's this, what's this? A way to see the future bright? Gifts can be refused, but oh this is just so generous. I could say I've no need but that that would be most disingenuous. The glasses, so bright, so chipper yet so clear! Oh Alitheon, you're being such a dear. I see Rancor, is sharing White Hot wrath, but gifts can be declined so get angry then be done and have a laugh. But Sharing is Caring and yes! The best! Rancor you have inspired me! Let all have empathy! I'll wear the mantle of the pink and rose and I guess that draws my power to a close oh watch as the sharing of goodness grows! WHAT IS THIS? It might or mightn't be the cure. But it's helpful I am sure! What's this? Kindness! To Care beyond yourself It's Kindness! Compassion for the other else! And Nadiya Brightbringer held up the rose colored glasses to the Undying Light, and scattered the rays of sympathy and Kindness and Compassion upon all peoples of the world.
