  1. I went for the pdf and a hardback print from lulu in the end - reading the pdf while waiting for it to arrive ...
  2. I actually just realised this morning that I could get the PDF from herogames.com for $20 then get it printed and bound in the UK (at lulu or doxdirect) for about $40 total. So basically, do-it-yourself print-on-demand. Think I'll look into what's involved in that.
  3. Chris, yeah, I found the same ones: the eBay one is "reconditioned", i.e. not new The Amazon ones are either: US imports (which is fine, but delivery is slow), or sold in the UK but at $80 for a $40 book (and I'm not paying that much extra) And I think I'd really rather get Champions Complete than 6e1 + 6e2 - last edition I played was 4th which was much smaller and we played it for years without feeling the need for 100's of pages of extra detail. I know how to play Hero - I just want the up-to-date rules and power lists so I can reference them alongside Hero Designer. And I think putting 700/800+ pages of rulebooks in front of my kids will just terrify them :-) It's a shame that the Complete books (Champions Complete and Fantasy Hero Complete) seem to be amongst the only core Hero books that aren't available as print on demand as that would be a great solution.
  4. Yeah, but they charge $26 shipping to the UK on a $40 purchase, which is ... a lot :-( (for comparison Amazon US wants $7 for shipping - that's a significant difference) I'll think it over ...
  5. I'm getting back into Hero with my kids (14 and 16) after 25 years or so. They love the game's build-anything approach :-) I'd love to get Champions Complete so we can use 6th Edition/Hero Designer etc. but I can't find the book for love nor money here in the UK (I much prefer a book to a PDF). Best I seem to be able to do is to import a copy from Amazon US with about a 2 week delivery time, which I might well have to end up doing. A lot of the other 6th edition books are available in print from rpgnow/drivethrurpg (including other Champions books) but not Champions Complete for some reason (that's a strange one). So, anyone know where I can get a physical copy in the UK?
  6. How did you come up with your 'handle' (forum name)? When watching Superman 2 when I was around 10 years old, when Zod says "Jor-El? Our jailer?" and "Revenge! We will kill the son of our jailer!" I mis-heard Terence Stamp saying "our jailer" in his english accent and thought Jor-El's second name was Arjailer. I realised my mistake a few years later, but liked the name, so it stuck :-) What was the first tabletop RPG you GMed? Inherited a copy of Moldvay D&D Basic in around 1983 from a family friend who'd returned to Scotland after living in America for a while. I had no idea how to play it at first, but I was fascinated by it, so we bumbled through and eventually worked it out. What was the first tabletop RPG you Played? Probably around 1984/85 - a school friend got the Menzter D&D Basic and I started playing in his game. What are you currently Playing/GMing? D&D 5e with my sons (14 and 16) We've been playing for a few years now, and they're finally getting to the point where they're starting to read the books themselves and take an interest beyond just "I hit the orcs with my sword". When did you start to play Hero? A friend ran 1st edition Fantasy Hero, probably around 1989-ish. I liked the flexibility of the point-based system, and by the time I bought and started running F.H. it was the 2nd edition (with the Elmore snow cover). I've since got 4th and 5th editions (I tend to stick to fantasy and star hero), but haven't got 6th yet. Edit: Turns out I did get 6th edition in a Bundle of Holding - guess I haven't read it yet though :-) Edit 2: Thinking of trying my kids with Hero after our current D&D 5e game is done - hence why I've started lurking around here again :-)
