Corriea is being coy, but I am pretty sure Stricken is a vampire of some type. I don't know how he is getting around in the daylight, but he has the speed, strength, complexion, and eye problems as a vampire.

Also the church's secret guard might be able to fit in as background checks.

I ran a Justice Inc game where everyone was run of the mill pulp era types: Private Eyes, etc.  They started out hunting down a serial killer who stabbed people with an icepick through the neck and bled them out.  Well it led to an old castle on a hill (the old Ravenloft module castle) where a creepy old guy was apparently the killer.  It wasn't until he laughed off bullets that they finally figured out he was a vampire.

I'm not generally a fan of the horror genre, but I am very partial to superheroes, and an admirer of good writing for any genre. Back in 1990, author and RPG designer Allen Varney contributed an adventure to the Fourth Edition Champions book, Champions in 3-D, titled, "Horror World." This remains the most brilliant and effective translation of Lovecraftian horror to the supers genre that I've ever seen. It was based on the premise of an alternate Earth in which the heroic pulp-era investigators fighting to prevent the manifestation on Earth of nightmarish elder horrors from beyond... failed.

With Hero Games' permission, Allen Varney put the entire text from his adventure on his personal website, under the title, ANOPHELES: Atrocities From Beyond . That webpage includes the adventure proper, stats for its NPCs and monsters, and 4E Power constructs to model Lovecraftian sanity-blasting effects. (Fair warning -- it's not for the faint-hearted. Seriously.)

The Stevens pump action Shotgun dates from 1885. Before that was an 1867 repeating shotgun.

The shotgun is actually a magnetic railgun, propelling steel shot with an electro-magnetic coil wrapped around the barrel, using a capacitor in the stock. (Invented by Nikola Tesla, of course.)

The gadgeteer in my Champions campaign has her drone (really, an ROV) as Clairsentience with a mobile perception point, and low-STR TK with enough extra range to match or exceed the range of the Clairsentience, to represent little waldo arms.  If she wants to arm it, she can add an attack power with Indirect.

For example, in a Gadget Pool with 45 Control, 45 Pool:
Dual Drones (camera/mic):  Clairsentience (Sight Group and Normal Hearing, 440m range), 2 Mobile Perception Points, Half END (+1/4); OAF (-1), Flashed by Radio as well as Sight and Hearing (-1/4), Drones start at her location or where last shut down / placed manually (-1/2).  AP 44, RP 16, 1 END Drone Waldoes:  Telekinesis 6 STR, Fine Manipulation, Increased Max Range (720m; +3/4), 0 END (+1/2); OAF (-1), Only at location of Dual Drones (-1/2).  AP 43, RP 17, 0 END Drone Tranq Dart Gun:  Blast 2d6, NND (Hardened rPD; +1), Indirect (+1/2), Increased Max Range (400m; +1/2); OAF (-1), 8 Charges (-1/2).  AP 30, RP 12, 0 END (8 charges) You can replace the Tranq Dart Gun with a Tazer (same basic writeup, but replace the NND defense with Insulated or Hardened rED).

I would suggest exploring Clairsentience with Limitations (primarily - perceivable/attackable perception point).
Another option would be a Summon based build with a Limited Mind Link.

Well, I guess those are weakness that I can live with.  I mean, I prefer my plots coherent, but I have noticed that comic book movies that I have had no problem following the plots have often been called incoherent.  I think it is because comic book story lines tend to have a lot of moving parts and fantastic elements, and I think that makes it hard for people not use to them to follow everything.

Doh!  Why would they use Steppenwolf when they could use Darkseid unstead!?!

Still, slightly relieved that the underwelming villain wasn't Darkseid.  If you have Darkseid as your villain and he is not intimidating as all get out, then story telling just clearly is not your thing.

Independent of Justice League they have the following movies in development/production: Aquaman, Wonder Woman 2, Flash, Shazam, and Suicide Squad 2. None of these are particularly dependent on the success of JL, and they will give WB/DC plenty to put out against Disney/Marvel for the next few years even if JL2 never gets off the ground. I doubt they want to look out any further than that anyway, especially given how horrible they are at this. Also, they have yet to figure out who will be Batman going forward, a slightly sticky situation that puts anything resembling a "DCEU Phase 2" into question right now.

I think they are running into a couple problems with their main villain.
1st choice - Darkseid - drat, all the non - fans will just say why are you copying Thanos.
2nd choice - Braniac - everyone knows him as superman's villain, but he is easily upscalable but then it might look like copying Ultron.
ok, so, lets think of 3rd choice - maybe setup for Darkseid - who is his general - oh yeah, that guy Steppenwolfe - we will use him.

Well obviously you need a mix.  Batman is supposed to be a detective type, grim and gritty.  Superman should be noble and uplifting and heroic.  Flash can be whatever they want, which apparently is a dumb spaz kid.  Its just got to be a mix instead of everyone the same way because Batman made a lot of money.

If they can make some with a more optimistic it helps, like Wonder Woman I would be happy.

All the brooding stuff just gets annoying after so many movies.

We get it, you like the Frank Miller dark and brooding. But that is not the comics that lasted 100 years and still captures some of our hearts.

Wonder Woman on the other hand had a hero being a hero because she wanted to make the world better.

Yeh dark heroes are nice now and then, but after 6 movies we get the point.

I thought I heard that they were originally going to use Darkseid, but when they decided that Justice League would be an Avengers-like sub-franchise within the DCEU, they decided to build up to Darkseid over the course of multiple movies, which necessitated shifting to a lower-grade villain for the initial film in the series. Hence Steppenwolf.

It remains to be seen if this strategy will pay off. I mean, nobody particularly liked Suicide Squad but it did well enough financially to justify another movie, and so even if Justice League fails to get glowing reviews, it will undoubtedly do well enough at the box office to greenlight the sequel where we will most likely see Darkseid.

I think it shows an insane amount of optimism to have  a second rate villain in their first Justice League movie.  What, are they saving Darkseid for the sequel?

This is just what happened with Suicide Squad and having the Enchantress as their villain (Okay, one of the problems.)

I respect anyone's personal preference, and don't call you wrong for favoring Viperia. For my part, I feel a disconnect between her power set and her origin that bothers me. Like the 4E version of Viperia she has the classic Supergirl/ Kryptonian array of powers, but for me that doesn't jibe well with her mythic/magical origin as the daughter of Nama. It's a flavor thing, and I recognize it's my issue which others may not share.

Armstrong is pretty amazing, but even in his VIPER X 5th Version I consider him above the typical Dragonbranch guy as he just screams "Foe you can respect and team leader"

Ripper is usually the guy that has most of my players going "Whatever VIPER is doing, it's got to be big." He's their answer to Grond, and as subtle as nuclear powered tank. Then again, I don't throw VIPERIA at them often so it may make him stand out.

To be honest, none of the current Dragon Branch particularly grab me. They're all quite serviceable, but none are compelling to me. I actually prefer several of the more numerous villains from the 4E VIPER source book. The 5E version emphasizes agents and downplays supervillains a little too far for my taste.
