  1. Dune part 2. Nothing is perfect, but this version is my favorite adaptation of the book. In my opinion, this is better than the Star Wars science fiction franchise. It is a beautiful spectacle showing the dangers of hero worship, which could enable corruptible people into positions of power, who could become tyrants who kill billions of people.
  2. I have just attended the San Diego Comic Convention 2021 Special Edition. It was very fun. This was a smaller than average event, with an estimated 40,000 to 60,000 attendees instead of the 160,000 attendees normal before the pandemic. In my opinion, the smaller size is a positive, because I am a conservative who believes the old days were better. The exhibition hall did not feel clogged, people were not camping to attend panels, and parking beneath the San Diego Convention Center was readily available for those who could arrive by 7 AM. I attended a panel for Brent Spiner and a panel for Greg and Karen Evans, who make the Luann comic strip.got an autograph from Gigi Edgley, and experienced a Kobayashi Maru moment playing the Artemis Star Trek bridge simulator game. This is not to encourage more people to attend the Comic Con, but to try the smaller convention instead; smaller conventions could be enormous amounts of fun.
  3. I love Dune Part 1. It has visual spectacle, a great Hans Zimmer score, solid acting, and tells a complex story of many characters without becoming an info dump or confusing. I recommend people to watch it in IMAX, and hope enough see it so the producers greenlight a Dune Part 2
  4. It is possible that Trump could remain politically influential if he loses the Presidency. However, he faces economic ruin from the many lawsuits against him, his failing businesses, and debt to Deutche Bank; he could be jailed from criminal accusations against him; and Twitter has censored him and could deplatform him in the near future. If he loses, he could be done. America, like other countries, has an angry, politically active populist faction. Even without Trump, it is still there. How can we heal from this pandemic and our sectarian rage, to learn how to act with common sense and common decency? In the past, the human race has faced plagues and chaos and overcome them. I believe we can calm down, and work together to create a better world.
  5. I agree, and have already voted. Put my ballot in an approved drop box several weeks ago. Stay safe, and good luck.
  6. Sean Connery was a deeply talented actor who played roles in some of my favorite movies. In addition to being my favorite James Bond, he was great in "Highlander", "The Untouchables", "Indiana Jones and the Lost Crusade", "The Man Would Be King", "The Molly Maguires", "The Rock", "Outland", "DragonHeart", "The Hunt for the Red October". "Time Bandits", and "Robin and Marian". Sean Connery, thanks and rest in peace.
  7. In the original series, my favorite is "In Praise of Pip" Jack Klugman portrays a deeply flawed father seeking to spend more time with his dying son and redemption. In the 1985 series, it is a toss up between "NIghtcrawlers" about a crazy Vietnam veteran who has the superhuman power to make his nightmares come to life and "Her Pilgrim Soul" about a scientists who finds a way to communicate with a soulmate from a previous life.
  8. Eddie Van Halen, thanks and rest in peace.
  9. Too bad. I use to watch the Mac Davis show. Rest in peace.
  10. Doctor Zero is my favorite superhero. It was published by Epic, an imprint of Marvel comics, in 1988. Okay, he is more of an anti-hero, or an outright supervillain in his actions. He is an ancient, egotistical psychic vampire who despises the human race. He wears a cape to prevent the stupid humans from destroying the world. I was fascinated by his story for some reason. Perhaps I was in such in an angry, cynical mood.
  11. I agree that the new few weeks will probably be interesting; however, I have already my fill of interesting times. Times of contentment and normality sounds much more appealing.
  12. Hello everyone, Our Friendly Local Game Store has ended in-store gaming until further notice. I feel gratitude it is still in business in the recession that has just started. Are you still doing role playing games? Will you all meet in person, or will you practice social distancing and meet online instead? Live long and prosper!
  13. FYI Beginning Monday, March 16, all the gaming tables will be closed for the At Ease Game Store in response to the Covid-19 pandemic. All tournaments, all events will be cancelled until further notice. The store will now officially close earlier at 7 p.m. instead of 11 p.m. May you all stay healthy, Conrad
  14. This is just one man's opinion, and you could disagree with me. After watching "The Last Jedi", my expectations were lowered. In my opinion, TLJ was worse than "Revenge of the Sith". RotS is a bad movie, just not as episodes 1 & 2. Overall, the fun parts outnumbered the non-fun parts. I wish it was as good as Avengers: Endgame, but that did not happen. I disagree with the movie critics, and I give a slight recommendation for others to watch this movie.
  15. "Later in the evening Killroy had a classic Jason Bourne / Jack Bauer-esque solo adventure, successfully (and rather easily) reclaiming from a drug gang's crack house a mystery loot box of unmentionables stolen from the Societatis ex Monstrum Interfectorum. He even resisted to urge to look in the box, which he had been forbidden from doing by his handler. Having established his trustworthiness and reliability, Killroy has been accepted as a member of the Societatis...secretly of course. Killroy never even pulled a gun; he roughed up and intimidated his way through the gang members. It was pretty epic." I agree. Strategically, it would have been wiser to knock out the sleeping gangsters one at a time. However, Killroy walked into the crack house without fear. He was willing to go in, pick up that Amazon box those foolish thugs had pilfered, then go home without incident. Then several idiots decided to damage his suit with their pistols and shotguns, so they forced him to get busy. I wished I said that Saturday night, "Though I walk through the valley of the shades of death, I will fear no evil." I can arrive early 3 pm @ At Ease Games in December.
