  1. Re: (best ever)...reasons for becoming a supervillain! The world WOULD be a better place united under one ruler...and I really am the best man for the job. King Grimble
  2. Re: Help Needed with Superhero Bases Personally, I think the biggest reason to have a base is to have a trophy room. Where else are you going to put Dr.Terror's Death Ray once you stop him from destroying the world? Where are you going to put the Key to the City after the Mayor of Campaign City honors you with it? It's also nice to have a secure place to get away from it all. A normal apartment isn't even bullet-proof. A base can be a secret get away. And it's a place to meet other supers. When you need Prof. Know-it-All to come to town and help you figure out how to stop the plague-ridden robot monkeys are you going to meet him at Starbucks? You say you don't need bases, but I bet your student character can use computers and a nice super-computer would come in handy for homework. And what about a gym suitable for someone who can throw cars or blast holes through titanium?!? One last thought. I know you said the other players didn't want a team base, but once yours starts to seem very convenient and useful they might start throughing points into it to customize it even further. Just my $.02 Grimble
  3. Re: Third Semi-Annual Great HERO Figure Contest Wrap-up Awesome job, folks. I especially liked the Ripper fig! Kudos to all. Grimble
  4. Re: Time Travel and Potential Plots. Moquif, Thanks, for the displaced Time Police idea! I am going to use it on my group next session. They have extensive labs and workshops in their base. I plan on using the Time Police as extended house guests. Later they will finally finish a Time Platform or Time Tunnel or some sort of stationary Time Machine. They will "pop" home, leaving the PCs a somewhat quirky McGuffin. Wackiness will most definitely ensue! Again, Many thanks! Grimble
  5. Re: Champions Christmas Adventure Seeds! SANTA GROND: Grond comes across a bunch of orphaned street kids squatting in an abandoned house. They are all sad that they won't have a christmas. Grond wants them to have a good christmas, so he decides to get them all the gifts they want. Grond dons a stolen Santa suit and goes on a crime spree all over the city for all the cool toys and electronics the kids want. Can the PCs stop Santa Grond? What will they do once they piece together his motivation?
  6. Re: GMs: Funniest Character Sheet Mistakes You've Seen. I had a player who was new to champions. He built a flying energy projector. He bought a 10d6 energy blast with a x1024 to range. He didn't understand that an inch wasn't equal to a real inch, but that 1 in=2 meters. He decided to keep it. He just shifted some points and bought a bunch of telescopic sight and could shoot the wings off a fly at 2 miles plus! We all had a good laugh. Grimble
  7. Re: Age and Sanction? In my game world, the legal ages for sanction are 18, 15 with legal guardian's permission. Just my $.02, Grimble
  8. Re: WWYCD: Where brave men (and women) are needed Jack "Crash" Parker (Mutant Stuntman and Superhero Brick): Jack has a real hero complex. He'd have to stay and save the world. Throw in a hot Villianess who sees him as a second chance with her true love and he'd never leave.
  9. Re: 7 heroes summoned through time: who are they? George Washington James Bond Leonardo Di Vinci Davy Crocket Con Fu Scarlet Pimpernel Conan
  10. Re: (best ever...) reasons for becoming a superhero Well I was an EMT who gained the power to heal with a touch...Supervilliany was out, so...
  11. Re: WWYCD: A Christmas Carol, Champions Style! I might spring this on my PCs just to see how they'll deal with it. I've got a very odd group: Metal Master: Geeky dilitante with metal skin and metal control powers. Righteous Fury: Repentant female demon. Horns, burning eyes, red tinged skin. Victoria Celeste: Animate victorian doll with variable spell pool and magic items. She used to be an evil wizards familiar during the early 1800s. Rick the Brick: 4' tall brick red mutant 65 STR and 45rPD,45rED. Hunting Specter: Female Predator style alien with mental powers. James Bond: Yep. That James Bond. He busted into a villians high energy experiment while in his car. He and the car traveled from 1963 England to 2005 Pheonix AR. Now leader of the World Watchers. I think I might change the premise a bit. The Phantom Stranger will be traded in for a Cosmic Prankster that the characters have not met. He has prevented the Christmas ghosts from doing their job, so he can watch the ill-suited PCs try to save Christmas. Merry Humbug! Grimble
  12. Re: How do you know if a character name is already being used? I love using Toonopedia to find the lamest characters and names and revamp them into kick-@$$ NPCs. This has the added bennefit of getting any players who necognize the character to underestimate the NPC at first. *Evil Laughter here* A Gnome named Grimble Gromble
  13. Re: (best ever...) reasons for becoming a superhero Because a future version of myself came to me and said I had to or everything will be lost...and...I really like capes.
  14. Re: [Worst Ever...] Reasons to be a superhero I just really like capes. Alergic to evil and there aren't any good medications...so it must be eradicated for the sake of my sinuses! Grimble
  15. Re: Bad Powers Invisibility (Visible Effect). Basically its Invisibility to all sense groups, except that there is a bright orange glow. I actually built a Megalomaniac Villian around this powers. Doctor Naranja! He was always coming up with ways to be truely invisible. Lackies rushing into a bank, cut power and turn on portable flood lights the same color as Naranja. Subliminal messages over TV and radio hypnotising people to not see the color orange... The ability to shoot blood from his tear ducts up to about 10" (low powered EB bought to do no STUN or BODY). This was the only power of an NPC in an old game I ran. He applied to join the PC group. He was hired...he was a great accountant, too.
  16. Re: Who are the top 5 most powerful characters in your Campaign. All right. For the sake of not causing arguments, I state that this list is my opinion. Meant for MY game world and uses some alterations in write-ups and my own baiases... That said, here are the top 5 in my game (keep in mind that Dr.D is currently "dead")... Mechanon: He is a super-genius master of technology. Has thousands of summonable robot minions and 100s of hidden manufactory/bases. He is also a heavy hitter in a one-on-one (or Team-on-one) fight. The PCs my be able to stop him from stealing the High-energy physic prototype weapon...but he will be back. And better! Captain Chronos: I pretty much use him as a time travelling McGuffin/Plot Device/Comic relief...What ever I need in the storyline of the week. He is also my favorite NPC in the game. Serpent Supreme: Hidden and never leaves his sanctuary...but has the most NCI in my game. His world wide network of nests, as well as all of the followers that come with it make it easy for him to influence the game world and further his plans for world domination. He is currently the "power behind the throne" in many small nations in my game. Teleios: Master of genetics. He has a better database of Supers than UNTIL and has collected MANY DNA samples from varios heoes and villians. His followers are tough and EXTREMELY loyal (as loyalty is built into their genetic code). I plan on having him retrieve samples from the PCs in upcoming sessions. They should hate fighting clones of them selves. Also, some of them are unigue (one in a Repentant Demon, one is a Predator style alien...). No telling what Teleios can do with these... Last but certainly not least... Metal Master (public ID:Avory Hyne): Metal Master is a PC built on 300/150 pts. A 450pt character on this list? Yes. Let me tell you why. Avory, a filth rich science geek and amatuer astronomer saw a meteor crash near his Wyoming ranch. He tracked it down and thought he had found a Nickle/Iron meteorite, but it was too light for its size. He took it home and cut it in half to see its structure...The last thing he remembers before passing out was liquid metel covering his hands. Metal Master's skin is now alien metal (Armor 20rpd/20red),can sence metals at range (analytical), can animate metal (65str TK, metal only), and the real reason he is on this list...7d6 Transform (any metal to any other metal). This transform has many ramifications that I must keep in mind when coming up with scenariors. Your typical robot is (literally) putty in his hands. Hope you like, Grimble
  17. Re: [Worst Ever...] Reasons to be a superhero Funny thread...Here are a few more: Midlife Crisis. Where else can I wear a codpiece these days? When you pick up a meriorite and your skin turns into alien metal, what else are you going to do, huh? It was either this or stay home with the wife at night... I always wanted an Arch-Nemesis. I'll come up with more, soon. Grimble
  18. Re: Registration & Sanction Thanks a lot, bigdamnhero. I will be using your Registered Superhero package deal as written. My PCs have just taken over for the World Watchers (my worlds Champions/Avengers/JLA) and are still trying to get the hang of being the "BIG" Supers on he block. Especially since they are just 450-500pt characters. A couple of the heroes weren't even superheroing when they got the call to join the group. One of theme is a mutant brick who runs a Constuction company. One is a Pedator style alien (she does have a green card, though:D ) Next session, I plan on having a Primus Rep show up to The Watchtower and tell those who have not registered that things can be made difficult for the group if they don't choose to comply and stick with vigilante status. It should be fun. Grimble
  19. Re: from little plot seeds, mighty games do grow: Share you ideas! I have a challenge... Oculon! Let the eye beams fly!
  20. Re: from little plot seeds, mighty games do grow: Share you ideas! Sidenote. Eventually,my PCs had to help build a new wing onto Stronghold just for Foxbats and Gronds!
  21. Re: from little plot seeds, mighty games do grow: Share you ideas! Foxbat Bring in the Clones!: Foxbat comes accross an old, abandoned Super-genius Villians lab (Perhaps Teleios). In this lab is a very easily run computer hooked to several working cloning tanks... Enter The Foxbat Legion! If one Foxbat is annoying, what about 23?!? They build several Centipedemobiles and FoxBATs and go on a criminal rampage. In an old game I ran this worked out very well. Foxbat even captured Grond and cloned him. He used the Grond-clones as distractions for my PCs when he needed to further his "Master Plan" elsewhere. Boy did I love running that campaign!
  22. Re: Worst comic book superfight ever My all time favorite mismatched fight was in an old Silver Surfer (I forget which issue and can not find it at the moment). It seems Silver Surfer was flying low to the ground on Earth. He's not really paying attention to his surroundings (of course he was brooding or something). All of a sudden, Rhino crashes into The Surfer and his board (he wasn't watching where he was going, either). Rhino is pissed and picks a fight with the Silver Surfer! The Surfer tries to ignore Rhino until Rhino grabs his board out from under him. Next thing you see is a pissed off Surfer. He shoots a HUGE Cosmic energy blast at Rhino. Rhino flies back and lands in a smoking heap. End of fight. It was a riot, but a totally useless issue. Joe Powers
