I noticed a commercial for a CW show called DC's Stargirl and recorded it.  I record a lot of shows that tend to swirl the toilet these days.

I watched it last night.  I had to check the calendar to see if it was really 2020 and then see if I was awake and overcome suspicions I was in a coma or something.

A CW Supers show that wasn't grim grim dark dark keeping time by bashing me in the forehead with its AGENDA!! 2x4.  It has been a long time since I can remember reading a comic with Stargirl and I was pleasantly surprised.  It's been over twenty years since they stopped making comics so I had to refresh myself on the character, but I think this TV attempt shows promise.  As long as the idiots at the studio don't decide to "update" the story to be "relevant and edgy", or as I know it "crap all over the story in order to promote a personal agenda".

I added this show to my DVR, hopefully the first episode indicates what the entire series will be like.

Big Trouble in Little China: What happens when the sidekick doesn't realize he is one? The movie's still a lot of fun, even after 30 years.

Back when the movie service Ultraviolet was starting up, it was common for the various affiliates to offer free movies for linking an account, and this was one of the offered movies.

Demolition Man: Romantic comedy/fish out of water story. This one's still a lot more fun than it has any right to be. (Hulu)

As an aside, this was the first movie date for my late wife and I back when we were getting together, so it holds a special meaning to me. It's been just over 10 years since I lost her, and I still miss her deeply.

John Carpenter originally set the movie in the old west.  San Francisco 1880’s. Jack Burton drove a wagon load of supplies while boring the hell out of a shotgun rider who never spoke, the meeting of the girl was at the docks instead of the airport as she got of the boat from China etc.
When the studio said they wouldn’t go for a western he re-did all for the modern day.   Brilliant!

One final word about Hogan's Heroes: Klemperer was the son of Otto Klemperer, one of the great conductors of the early 20th century. Werner had substantial musical training and was a virtuoso violinist. Klink was also a violinist -- a terrible one, which gave us a hook into why he kept on failing. That said, Klink was not entirely an idiot.

He was just placed in an unsuitable position and was easily manipulable. He would have been much better suited to commanding a fighter squadron, as he had substantial experience as a combat pilot. But deep down he must have known the war was lost, and that a posting to the Eastern Front to fight the Soviets would have been suicide.
