  1. "Your mind is like an open book to me...and it looks like some of the pages haven't been colored yet."
  2. I hear the doorbell ring and suddenly the panic takes me The sound so ominously tearing through the silence I cannot move, I'm standing Numb and frozen Among the things I love so dearly The books, the paintings and the furniture Help me The signal's sounding once again and someone tries the door-knob None of my friends would be so stupidly impatient And they don't dare to come here Anymore now But how I loved our secret meetings We talked and talked in quiet voices Smiling Now I hear them moving Muffled noises coming through the door I feel I'm Crackin' up Voices growing louder, irritation building And I'm close to fainting Crackin' up They must know by now I'm in here trembling In a terror evergrowing Crackin' up My whole world is falling, going crazy There is no escaping now, I'm Crackin' up These walls have witnessed all the anguish of humiliation And seen the hope of freedom glow in shining faces And now they've come to take me Come to break me And yet it isn't unexpected I have been waiting for these visitors Help me Now I hear them moving Muffled noises coming through the door I feel I'm Crackin' up Voices growing louder, irritation building And I'm close to fainting Crackin' up They must know by now I'm in here trembling In a terror evergrowing Crackin' up My whole world is falling, going crazy There is no escaping now, I'm Crackin' up Now I hear them moving Muffled noises coming through the door I feel I'm Crackin' up Voices growing louder, irritation building And I'm close to fainting Crackin' up (I have been waiting for these visitors) They must know by now I'm in here trembling In a terror evergrowing Crackin' up (I have been waiting for these visitors) My whole world is falling, going crazy There is no escaping now, I'm Crackin' up (I have been waiting for these visitors) Now I hear them moving Muffled noises coming through the door I feel I'm Crackin' up (I have been waiting for these visitors) Voices growing louder, irritation building And I'm close to fainting Crackin' up (I have been waiting for these visitors) They must know by now I'm in here trembling In a terror ever growing Crackin' up (I have been waiting for these visitors) My whole world is falling, going crazy There is no escaping now, I'm Crackin' up
  3. Follow-up from the police union after the suspensions: “Fifty-seven [officers] resigned in disgust because of the treatment of two of their members, who were simply executing orders,” union president John Evans told NBC affiliate WGRZ. Buffalo police officers resign from unit in protest of suspended colleagues who shoved man, 75, to ground
  4. Hmm, interesting dynamic here. Captain Blue (equivalent Fleet rank First Lieutenant, I believe) will be in charge of the jarheads. I don't know if our ship's Captain has experience with (or even the capacity for) flying a Viper, so that pretty much puts Ivanova in charge of the fighter pilots. There will probably be some friction there. That's assuming that the damned A.I. doesn't just decide to overrule (and/or space) all of us puny organics and take over all the operations itself, of course.
  5. Our ship has... a full complement of Colonial Vipers, and pilots to fly them. Commander Ivanova still prefers the Starfury, but the Viper's superior speed, especially with Turbo Boost, has its advantages as well.
  6. Sad to confess, I have not read the Uplift series. Does our captain require an aqueous environment?
  7. I have the distinct impression that Susan is going to have this look A LOT given how the crew is shaping up so far.
  8. First Officer: Susan "God Sent Me" Ivanova
  9. It's been said that the real tragedy of COVID-19 is that it's killing all the wrong people....
  10. There are always earthquakes clustered around the park. It sits on top of an active hotspot. Little known fact: The Yellowstone seismic monitoring station is, in fact, on the campus of the University of Utah in Salt Lake City. The geologist who runs the station was one of my professors this spring. They have hundreds (or thousands?) of monitors around the park that send real-time data via a dedicated T1 line to the monitoring station at the U. But you are right about one thing: If the Yellowstone supervolcano decided to erupt, we wouldn't have to worry about any of the rest of this crap.
  11. Trying to print from my laptop gives me visions of three-legged turtles stampeding through library paste.
  12. In my mind, when Wesley used his space-warping powers solo for the first time, he ended up aboard the Nostromo and was never seen again.
