  1. Re: Traveller Hero... an update from the authors Woot!!! Downloading as I type. Also ordered the two campaign books as well.
  2. Re: Traveller Hero... an update from the authors I judge a book by its cover. I know you shouldn't but I do; not so much games books of existing lines were I know what to expect but new stuff. Changeling looks lovely, so does Monty Cooks World of Darkness, the D&D books, the new GURPS 4 edition, they are all very nice. A quick flick through them and I was sold. But... pdfs. I can't judge them by their cover, nor their graphics which I will only discover when I actually purchase it. The odd picture is fine, but on screen all I do is rapidly skim past it to the text. As far as I can see, all fancy illustrations do is bump up the cost to the publisher. A minimal graphics pdf would be cheaper (or more profitable). Then, if the decision is made to go to print, graphics could then be commissioned. I would say that in the real world beautifully illustrated books are a must where they have to compete with similar products vying for our attention. Pdfs, are different, it's the content that will bring people back not fancy pictures. Anyway, where is this minimal graphics Traveller thingy. It's been at least three days since anybody mentioned it! I need something to distract me from tinkering with airsoft guns.
  3. Re: Traveller Hero... an update from the authors I just read the 'minimal graphics' comment on the web page and totally agree with it. Traveller has always been a minimal graphics rulebook kind of game; have a look at all the pictures in the original LBB:)
  4. Re: Traveller Hero... an update from the authors Great, great! Can't wait for the pdf. Hurry up! Those 15 months are ticking down!
  5. Re: Traveller Hero... an update from the authors Ooh! shiny!
  6. Re: Traveller Hero... an update from the authors hey! Hey! HEY!!! Less with the talking more with the working! The three books though is a cool idea and does hark back to Traveller tradition.
  7. Re: Traveller Hero... an update from the authors I feel much starship designing and deckplan drawing coming on.
  8. Re: Traveller Hero... an update from the authors Just discovered the 14 page index and intro http://www.freelancetraveller.com/infocenter/software/Trav4Hero_Intro.pdf It looks awesomely good. I am sure that the rest of the eager fans will concur that more frequent beating and mild electric shocks to the editors would speed them on. And do they really need to sleep?
  9. Re: Traveller Hero... an update from the authors I read on your site that it's being edited and the like. Any idea of timescale?
  10. Re: Traveller Hero... an update from the authors Something to keep me seriously occupied. At least until GURPS Vehicles 4th Ed comes out - well, maybe not that long:rolleyes:
  11. Re: Traveller Hero is ready for Download Very nice. Traveller I can handle. Despite owning most of the Hero stuff (that isn't Super Hero) I still find it a little tough getting my head round things like radios and radar as described in Hero!
  12. Re: TravellerHERO PDF in the works Wow. Quite impressive stuff. I've been a Traveller geek since it came out and must say MORE!!!
  13. Re: What was that? Elvis weapon in LOTR movie. Check out "Weapons and Warfare" by Chris Smith for LOTR. It is by far the coolest of all the movie books with photographs of virtually all the weapons and armour from the films.
  14. This may have been covered previously but has anybody done a Star System generator using the rules in Star Hero?
  15. There I was all set to do a D20 campaign; either D&D (yes I bought 3.5) or a Spycraft/SG-1 hybrid, or GURPS. Hero had not (seriously) crossed my mind. Then I foolishly asked the players opinion. Why don't we do that Danger International/Fantasy Hero thing we played a while back. It was cool. You could base it on the SF short story you did it seemed excellent. Flattered but thrown I prepared my defence. Er... okay. I've got the new stuff but it's like strange. You know, points for everything and, and, and ...this big book is the basic rules. There are extra books for everything! It didn't work. So... some questions. 1. I'd like to use chameleon surface armour. There are several qualities which all affect perception to a greater or lesser degree but also work at a reduced level when the wearer is moving. How would I simulate this? 2. HEAT rounds are very effective in modern combat. How would you simulate one of these compared to say an AP cannon round? 3. Looking at Star Hero, on p155 the Full Body Armour weighs 80kg for 12PD Half Mass! The Battlearmour on p156 weighs 224kg! Is this right! Any help, advice would be appreciated.
