Yep, 350 points. In the Champions genre book. He's about what you'd expect based on an ex-merc with energy powers. D
  2. Go with what Champsguy said. Mind Scan, Telepathy, Postcog and precognition. Find Weakness. Combat Luck. Luck. If you want to save points, then make the powers RSR: Deduction. You also might want to Mentiac in the UNTIL book. He's supposed to be a smart guy, and he's got "intelligence based" powers too. D
  3. Basically, this idea has been around for a long time, and in a lot of cases (Strke Force, the First Ninja Hero) there have been rules for it. But, on Aaron Alliston's (or however you spell his name) website, he disavows the construction, and says that it's overpowered. Which is why it's been removed in 5th edition. "I'm going to abort to attack" That's unbalancing, and unfair. I'm not ever giving up anything for the privledge of drilling my opponent over and over again. I attack. He goes, and I attack. He goes again, and I attack him. Every time he goes, I abort to attack him, and drill him before he gets there. If you want to play the game that way, you buy up your speed, hold your action, and when he attacks you, you attack him with that held action. You're giving up something (the initiative order, the ability to do something else) to be reactive to your opponent. Simple. Easy. Fair. Jet Li has a 6 speed. He's fighting 3 Speed mooks. (it also works for 4 and 2, respectively). He can hold those extra actions and reactive strike the mooks just fine. D
  4. Well, like with Fred itself, we just have to wait for Steve or Darren to say something about the book we can take out of context to use as a name. Or, we have to wait to see what they come up with for a cover... Fred 2. Fred Jr. Morefred. I'm partial to Fred+, myself. D
  5. Sure there is. It'll include part of the FAQ, all of the Errata, and the Genre by Genre document that got cut the first time. If you look at most of the questions Steve gets on a daily basis, the answer is "look at the FAQ". Including that info in the book will make things much easier on everyone. All it really is is an error clarified and corrected print run. D
  6. The simplest way would be to be in each multiform to buy Accidental Change as a limitation. Define the Change as back to Zodiak form, at midnight or if amulet removed from character. Buy the Multiform on Zodiak with the Focus limitation, and you're probably done. You could buy all the powers of the Multiform above the base Zodiak level with a Focus limitation, then when it gets taken away you'd be at the normal level. Since you're already getting a point break for the multiform, I don't know that the extra break for the Focus on the powers of the multiform is that advisable. It might be seen as cheesy. D
  7. Nah. I'd stick with something different. Every super with a sword's got a katana. Every Ninja's got a katana. Everyone everywhere's got a katana. I like the rapier wielding swashbuckler image, even if it is only slightly less cliche than katana wielding martial artist. Especially with the trick rapier/light sabre kind of thing. D
  8. No, I think we got rid of the Queen of Cups idea a while back. D
  9. This just in... The Red Sox owner is a giant pansy. "I didn't want to pay enough money to hang with Steinbrenner, so I'm going to cry." http://story.news.yahoo.com/news?tmpl=story&cid=545&ncid=755&e=1&u=/ap/20040218/ap_on_sp_ba_ne/bba_red_sox_rodriguez How much do you want to bet that if he'd had the money to buy A-Rod, he'd have taken it and Salary Cap be damned. He lost. Now he's whinging about it. It's no wonder your teams can't win the big games. they're doing just like the owner. Loser. D
  10. Amazing. Tanner Kia is selling new cars "Buy one, get one for one dollar". You pay all tax title licence fees, of cource. Granted that they are talking Kia's, but could business be that bad as to have to do a "Buy one, get one for a buck" promo? D
  11. You rock, Allen. I'm so looking forward to this book. D
  12. oh God NO. NO Lovecraftian Horrors. NO. I'm willing to put up with it, if I get outvoted. But, any Lovecraftian stuff is going in the trash. I'd rather not have that be the whole book. Good ideas, both of these. And this is where I'd go with it, if I were writing for it. The world's a nasty, nasty place IRL, and having DEMON doing it's part to make the world that way would be my focus. It's the "mystic crime" organization. That's got to mean something more than just "steal artifact to summon unspeakable horror for the supers to bitchslap around". That sounds good. If you're talking about the different eras, and how to slot it in, then you emphasise different aspects. In a Golden Age, you play up the weirdly mystical. In a Silver age, it's the over-the-top espionage. In an Iron age, you play up the mephistophelian malevolence. D
  13. How hard is this to understand? I'm right handed, and left eye dominant. That means, for me to be able to see the target, I have to use my left eye, putting my head directly over the gun, or close it and use my right. and, no, I can't shoot the gun with my left hand, I'm NOT LEFT HANDED. I know damn well "proper shooting style" is that right eye on the sights, left eye open from the right handed position. That won't work for me. All I'll do is shoot the target the next lane over. I'm left eye dominant, right handed. Like Kirby Puckett (that's one of the things that made him a great hitter). Like Col Jeff Cooper for that matter. Trust me. I've been doing this for years. D
  14. Re: Re: Re: The Millenium Watch Ok then. Post fiction, instead. See if I care. Nice work. D
  15. Re: The Millenium Watch Now, are you going to post character sheets/HD files for them? D
  16. Well, cool. Glad you got what you want. So, give us version 2.5... D
  17. Thanks. There's something similar to that limitation in the Gadgets and Gear playtest stuff when talking about the ... (edit in the interest of NDAs) Thanks again. Yep. She's a babe. D
  18. Clubs (sticks) and Fist Loads are free WF, everyone has them per Fred pg 54. FWIW: I like the character, and don't have any issues with the way she's bought. D
  19. Of cource, it occurs to me that I'm not sure how well stand alone "modern" type games do. I've seen lots of them come and go, in various sub-genre's. The attempt by DOJ to link low levels supers with the modern genre might be an attempt to get market share from both groups, rather than publishing two separate lines of stuff, and having neither sell. D
  20. I would like to see Dark Champions become Danger International. Concentrating on Modern Times Adventuring. Spies, Mercs, Super Agents, horroresque monster hunters, perhaps even a modern magic setting, would all fit into this. I'd then like to see Dark Champions become a separate book, dealing more with "gritty dark age" comics, using Hudson City as the backdrop. Maybe just make it in a bigger Hudson City sourcebook. Not lower powered per se, but more gritty. Perhaps to some degree "more realistic". IMX, Dark Champions supers characters were a lot like regular Champions characters, with slightly lower active point costs (1 60 point, a bunch of 40ish pointers) and lower defenses (resistant ones definately). Maybe lower Dex and Speed, but not so much so. (since, in 5th edition, there's been a move to lower Defenses anyways, I don't know if there's a need to drop them any more.) But, I'd like it to be possible for the Champions to go to Hudson City and work with the local supers on a meaningful level. D
  21. I was discussing with my wife the "I've got more arrows than any person should be able to carry". She suggested that on each of the slots where it matters, you put a Burnout Limitation. When it Burns out, you've ran out of those type of arrows. It sort of splits the difference between my earlier "I just plan right/got lucky in having the right arrows" and gives it a mathematical basis for failure. Plus, you can figure based on the percentage chance of rolling the Burnout how many arrows you technically have. I dunno if you could parlay the 14- Burnout (-1/4) limitation on the MP slots into enough points to buy your mask gadget. D
  22. I've used my Fred many a time to smash suitibly irritating small insects. It's pretty darn sturdy. Not as sturdy as the Nomex/Kevlar/Titanium version I was hoping for, but more than strong enough for most people. D
  23. Perhaps the most misnamed car ever. Swift my ass. I was in college, and my buddy had a Chevette. We were going out somewhere, and the car was having issues going up the hill. So, I said in a loud clear voice, "Activate Fred Flinstone Drive". "Wha?" "Jam your feet through the floorboards and run." He hit me pretty hard for that... D
  24. open letter to my co-workers... Just because I'm the closest male proximate to the shared printer, that does not mean I'm the one responsible for clearing the paper jam/checking the toner/putting in more paper when it runs out. I have my own printer, and in an extreme lack of team spirit, I really don't care that you haven't bothered to check your printouts, and really need them now. If they were that important, you should have came over, and loaded paper first, then printed your stuff. I've got my own issues, thanks for not asking, so leave me alone. Sigh. Now I feel better. D
