1. Re: What would you do for a Klondike bar? All except Olorin - go out and buy one. Although Black Tiger probably would not want one. Olorin - Magically summon one from a cold dimension - assuming he bought one previously and put it there. He does that with lemonade - at least partially to freak people out.

Cat Up a Tree

Re: Cat Up a Tree Volt and Olorin can both fly and have a force field, so they'd fly up and get it. Volt would be more heroic though. Why? He's allergic to cats! But he'd do it anyway, since that's what heroes do. Black Tiger - either totally ignore it or tell others to do it themselves. Not exactly a nice person, even though a hero. Leadman - heavy brick. He'd hold a ladder or comfort the girl. The Mr Incrdible route is not an option for him. Futurian ' "Whoaaa! Cat in a tree and you want it down? Fragic!" He'd then build ... something high tech. It'd work. It'd also probably freak the cat out. And he would not understand that.
3. Re: What's *your* superpower? Bump of direction. I've never been lost in my life, can almost always tell the directions and can always get back to where I started - if not where I am going. Green thumb Aid 1d6 + growth (only at natural rate) only vs plants. I get things to grow and bloom that most people can't. One example - I've had a venus fly trap that is very healthy for over 5 years now and had it bloom multiple times. I've also had aloe plants bloom, and a snake palnt bloom for multiple years. Animal magnetism (I joke it only works on animals ) 12d6 armor piercing mind control vs animal class of mind one command - "like me and want to be near me" area effect no consience control always on. Seen with multiple dogs (including attack dog that was not told I was ok - yet) multiple horses (including Lippizanners), a dolphin, a parrot, and much more. May have some sort of activation/limitation since it does not always work, but it is really uncanny.
4. Re: If powers were related to personality traits, what power would you have? Positive - Thinks things through, plans ahead and tends to have what I need. - Good grief! Can we say Batman as in "always has a plan and has gadget to go with the plan"? Vpp gadget pool of some sort, but must be prepared ahead of time - except maybe for a small Vpp for anything. Negative - Although very patient, if my patience is exhausted, I can get dangerous. High strength only when patience exhausted.
5. Re: Where is your campaign based? I set mine in Cincinnati-which is where I live. Millenium city and the battle of Detroit has not happened yet. My group, The Misfit League, is the primier Midwest group, although they've gone national, international and even interdimesional upon occasion. The Champions are a NPC NY city group that we get along quite well with- and is more famous nationally.
6. Re: Quote of the Week From My Life. I'd take the not normal line as a compliment. After all, note my sig below.
7. Re: Egg McGuffin All except Olorin would ask for proof from both - and watch the actions of the aliens for clues. Olorin - Truth spell anyone? With enough prep he could read just about any mind to almost any level.
8. Re: "Neat" Pictures "Sir, I think I found where the mutant termites went."
9. Re: WWYCD: Holes in the story Since none of characters really eats jelly donuts, they'd say "Thank you for telling me that," and proceed to order what they want. Except one. See below. Volt - Glazed donuts or occasionally Bavarian Creme. Prefers bagels (garlic or apple cinnamon) Olorin - Bavarian Creme or glazed. Another bagel fan, same as Volt. Black Tiger - does not do donuts. Or bagels. If in store for another reason, he'd ignore the comment and do what he came to do. Leadman - Crullers or cake donuts (plain). Dunks only. Futurian - "Oh wow. Now I want one. Just kidding. Got maple? If not, glazed or cinnamon,"
10. Re: The Last Daredevil asks for your help Volt - after vetting mundanely, he'd help out where he can - and help to find out the truth. Olorin - After vetting (mundane & mystic) he'll offer to help fiscally at first. He is actually rich. The condition would be all mystic items they have that can be safely moved and are free and clear are now his. (up to what he considers the "value" of his help.) He'll help out in high need and maybe help train. He'd try to investigate the truth. Black Tiger - detective. Would only investiagte to find out truth and investigate. Heroing help would be on an emergency basis only. Leadman - detective. Would investagte as per Black Tiger. Might help out upon occasion. Futurian - "Whoaaa! Fragic. You want me to help? Man, you are desparate. Ok. When I think about it." Which means... a bit immediatey, and not again unless reminded. A lot.
11. Re: WWYCD- April Fools are everywhere Volt would do the best he could to find out what gives and fix it. He'd go to a detective, mentalist or mystic for help. He would not take advantage of the situation. He'd use the gullability to prod people back to the truth. Olorin is a mystic and would proceed to trace things down that way. Eventually, he could fix it. He'd also be very tempted to cast a spell on the Flat Earthers that would make them see everything as two-dimensional. But he'd refrain. Barely. Black Tiger is an investigator and would try to fix things that way. His first thought would be that it figures and that a government comspiracy is behind it. He'd be very tempted to use it to find out about his own past. ... But that would requiring knowing where to apply the effect. And that would require knowing more about his past. He'd try though, but only there. Leadman "Aw &%^#!" Another investigator. He'd probably do a few trully harmless things that would not benefit himself. Futurian - Whoaaa! The April 1 virus is loose." He's kidding. However, some would take him as serious since he's from the future. "Aw man, I'm just kidding. No, I'm serious now. No, listen. Ok then. It's aliens! It's a dimensional attack! It's magic! It's the end of the world! I'ts the beginning of heaven on earth! Now chew on that while I try to fix this." Even though he's kind of a joker, he'd take this seriously. Maybe because he's a joker. This is entirely too easy and not fun anymore.
12. Re: Foods for those that just don't care anymore I like tuna. As an ice cream however.... And on the subject of weird ice cream... Waynesville Ohio (less than an hour from me) has an Annual Sauerkraut festival .... with sauerkraut ice cream. Can't stand sauerkraut.
13. Re: "Neat" Pictures Now the ....stuff... is going to hit the fan.
14. Re: Museum Break In All my heroes: Talk to the museum people and see what they know about the book. Black Tiger and Leadman: see if they can figure out who the "clumsy oaf" and skinny guy was via investigation. Olorin - If the book is magical or mystical he'll know. He also would probably know the power/danger level of it. If the person copying it was not careful or too powerful, he'd could find out what was copied. Futurian "Is it a tech manual of some sort? Can I see it?" If it is a tech manual, he'd know he power/danger level of it. If magical or mystical.... "Oh wow. Find a mage, I'm out of here."
15. Re: Quote of the Week from my gaming group... I remember a bit that could apply to McGinty: "Heaven doesn't want him, and Hell is afraid he'll take over."
16. Re: Fading Stars...when and why should superheroes retire? I didn't see a reason one of mine, an unaging mage, would have. Boredom. "Not another world conquerer! This last one, the up and comers will have to handle the next one." Olorin, the mentioned mage, has gone through the following things at least twice, some more thanthat: Adventuring (heroing), magic research, just wondering around (multiple worlds and dimensions), mentoring, and getting married. (once raising a family.)
17. Re: Would your Hero endorse a polititian? Olorin - Unlikely to make public announcements, but might quietly support one he believes in. He'd probably only go public on someone he personally knows. Volt - In secret id, yes. As hero - only if he thought the opponent of the person he supports was an absolute disaster, a traitor or plain evil. He might support a teammate. Black Tiger. No. Not unless it was one of his teammates. Leadman. No. Mainly because he'd think an endorsement would doom the guy. Leadman is a "gloom and doom" type. Futurian "Vote for Futurian. He knows what's coming..... Really, you have to be kidding. Not going there." Exception: if one of his teammates ran. Well, some of them. Others he'd actively oppose.
18. Re: "Neat" Pictures Aww... How cute. Cthulhu's baby pictures! And with that bonnet and his(?) mother(?) showing his picture everywhere, no wonder he's(?) so surly.
19. Re: How does your Hero relax? Off Time Activities Volt gardens - mainly flowers . Olorin is busy watching old movies, Tv shows, etc. His favorite movie is "Wizard of Oz" and he thinks the line "pay no attention to the man behind the curtain" is a hoot and says "I knew wizards like that." Black Tiger - watches kung fu movies. He watches the ones with good moves, but secretly enjoys the cheesy impossible ones. But he'd never admit it. Leadman - Spends time at the local greasy spoon diner ordering "Coffee. Black. Hot. Lots of it. Now." and chatting up his favorite waitress. Someday he may actually get the nerve to ask her out. Futurian - "Time off? Yeah, I love to mess with people's minds as Futurian, hinting at the future. Just close enough to the truth to be beliveable." He also works at an animal rescue site, but still considers it his time off. "Heck, if I had other income, I'd pay them!"
20. Re: And now, for your daily dose of cute... A friend got two new rescue puppies. The black one is a female lab/Australian cattle dog mix named Bella. The white one is a male, we think terrier lab mix.
21. Re: Your Bearded Duplicate Volt would go to his group and recruit them to take this guy on. They already know Volt's weaknesses and could use them. Volt is not afriad of dying, he just would worry about the effects of them meeting. Olorin - When I first read this I thought "I guess Olorin's evil duplicate would be clean shaven, since Olorin himself is bearded." even though I realized it was not literal. I't's actually happened to him without the "boom factor" involved. In this case he would call upon his allies, but especially the non-magical ones. He'd arm all he could with magic drains and stay away. He called on his allies when he faced the evil duplicate before. Drain the magic nearby and had his allies kill the guy. And yes, he'd insist on the guys death. Way too dangerous. Black Tiger would be tempted to have a dimension controller put both in a pocket dimension, confront the guy and go boom - or fight for eternity. Then he'd swear, grumble, and enlist his super friends to do it. But he'd want to watch in person. Leadman - See Volt's response. Futurian - "An evil me! Whoa! Hey, neat beard. Tried one once. It itched. Ok guys, take him on. I'll be at the base." Yup, he'd stay out of it. See Volt's response.
22. Re: What Fantasy/Sci-Fi book have you just finished? Please rate it... Recently read "The Warded Man" by Peter V Brett. O. M. G.! I slurped it up in two days, but only two because I stayed up past midnight to finish it. One of those "I gotta find out what happens next." books. I put it down, picked it up for "one more chapter" put it down, picked it up, etc. I have the next book on pre-order, which I almost never do. Fantasy with good characters and and interesting plot. Highly recommended.
23. Re: How would your character rate on a villian's threat matrix? Getting pictures of all my characters would not be hard, but is it know that Olorin often disguises himself. The "known base" is no such thing. It's a red herring and the real one is well hidden and yet unknown. All my characters have shut down Viper bases before, but are not focused on it. All but Olorin and Futurian would rate about 6-7. Olorin is so versatile and can get obsessed about things, so he might be rated about 9. Futurian tends to get distracted, but not during combat. If you are not in his face, he tends to forget about you. Rates about 4-5. Volt - Most powers are well known. Magetism is not well known yet. Weaknesses - well, hating public speaking won't help Viper much. Another "known" weakness has been overcome recently, and that is not well known. Could be an unplesant suprise if they try it. Olorin - large VPP, but not instant. Powers rated as: "Unknown. List of things he used used normally follows." If he knows your weakness and has time, you are in trouble. Weakness - only one known - Unfamiliar with Earth culture. However, it is at the 5 point level - but he fakes ignorance at higher levels. Black Tiger -Powers known, weaknesses not. Leadman - Most powers known - TK (only down to ground) not well known, but not a secret. Weaknesses are not known. Futurian - Fairly new. Specific powers known are sketchy. Known he is awesome with Tech and poor away from it. No other weaknesses known.
24. Re: The Snow Storm Volt would dress warmly and help pull people out of snowbanks and such. (he can fly) If needed he can act as a generator for up to a small business four about 4 hours. (electric powers) Olorin - First of all, he he can himself temporarily immune to the cold. With a large VPP - a version of "change environment" comes to mind. At best he could do a block, but a block cleared every couple hours would help. He only needs 4 hrs of sleep for week as well. If he knew of "snow eating critters" he could summon a bunch of them, and dismiss them as needed. (He doesn't know of any though.) Maybe a "snow magnet"? Black Tiger - keep warm, deal with crime and help in emergencies. As a martial artist, kicking the snow may help his mood, but little else. Leadman- Brick. Give him a large snow plow to push. Otherwise, keep warm and help where needed. Futurian - "Whoa! What happened to the weather control? Oh yeah, that's right. Not invented yet. Bummer." At first he'd play in it. Then as he got bored - and people complained - he could whip up a few self driven intelligent snowplows. Then self driven intelligent things to restore power. In that order, and one at a time.
