  1. Another John Ridley piece, this is the Golden Age hero (and public domain character) Stardust the Super Wizard
  2. Nope. It was Michelle Yeoh from Silverhawk
  3. Been awhile since I posted here. A few weeks ago, Joe Singleton passed away. Besides bringing characters to life for me visually, he had become a friend. Those of us who knew him are still coming to grips with his passing. He had a stroke last year, so he was unable to complete various commissions for me. Now that he's no longer with us, I started looking for someone to finish some of them. I found this artist named John Ridley on Facebook, and had him draw these characters based on sketches Joe had drawn. This is a duo known has Slash & Burn. Slash is an expert with twin swords, while Burn obviously controls fire 😉 I think they came out pretty good. Can anyone guess who the inspiration for Slash is?
  4. Started working with a new artist named Cường Nguyễn from Vietnam. I found him through a group on FB that discusses public domain characters. He's been doing some characters for a group of Neo-Nazi villains known as the Neo-Teutonic Order. First up is White Lighting, a speedster who can generate an electrical field as he runs. After that is Aryan Eagle, who has wings and clawed hands. Lastly is Panzerfaust, who can generate explosive energy blasts from her hands
  5. Of course. It makes sense to use them if you can afford to. I can't, so I looked elsewhere. I have 3 - 4 artists I used on a regular basis, and they've produced great work for me. While I didn't find them all via DA, all of the artists I work with have pages on DA. There is a lot of untapped talent willing to do the work if given a chance. I try and give them that chance, and I promote them while sharing the art they've done for me. I know a few have gotten some work from my promoting them, and it helps build my relationships with them. It's a win - win for both of us.
  6. I think the main issue is that many superhero rpgs tend to use the same group of artists for the most part, who charge accordingly (and deservedly so). Yet there are some artists out there as good as them, who are less expensive, but few bother to actually go looking for them. I've posted art I've commissioned in one of the art threads, and I can tell you that for the price of one piece by Storn Cook, I can get 3 or 4 pieces from an artist in the Philippines who I feel is an underrated talent. There is also plenty of superhero stock art available now; Storn has some, and Jacob Blackmon has a lot as well. Ade Smith is another. So I disagree that you can't afford color art. You can if you're smart and look for newer, hungry artists who you can afford. It helps you get color art for your book, and it helps them build their profiles, so they can eventually earn more themselves, just like artists before them did.
  7. I did. However, other companies provide a higher quality logo, so I figured Hero would do the same. 96 isn't exactly high quality, which I figured they'd want products to have That's just the blurb on the community page. My concern is how the terms affect using my own IP outside of Hall of Champions. As someone pointed out on another forum, the wording of the agreement allows others to use your IP, which is a no go for me. As of last week, the agreement states: In other words, you can't use your own IP with other systems. Since I all ready have, that means either I can't use it with Hall of Champions, or I have to take down the other products (which I'm not going to do). it also grants others to use your material, not just what Hero products you can tap into The only company that doesn't do this with their CCP is Genysys Foundry, whose terms state The person who posted this on another forum stated Jason was going to change it to be more in line with Genysys Foundry's terms. If someone whose posted to Hall of Champions can confirm that it was changed, that would remove any concerns I have. I know it's not a big deal for many who use HoC, but for someone like me (who releases product for multiple systems), it is (because of the limitations most CCP have)
  8. That's kind of a low resolution one though. I would think the official one would be higher than 72 dpi
  9. Where is the Hall of Champions logo to be found? I can't find where to download it from the community page. Is there any prohibition about publishing characters that I've published for other systems? The info on the community page isn't really clear on that (at least it isn't to me)
  10. Not that I can see. I'm at the page for the Hall of Champions community, and it says where to place the logo (alongside the text you need to include), but nothing on downloading the logo. All the instructions on how to upload are there on the community page. Guess I'll have to ask Jason. Still makes no sense to make it this hard to get the logo though
  11. You would think, but it isn't available in the community content product listing, nor the Hero Games listings. If it's supposed to be a community, you'd think making the logo easily accessible would be kind of a priority.
  12. Here's some art from Kris Smith. This for something I'll be putting together for another system in the future. The characters are in the vein of the old 60's Batman tv show, in that they are somewhat cheesy. First up is a Creative Commons character called The Skunk. The Second is a new take on a public domain character called The Checker (renamed Checkers here) Here is The Putty, another Creative Commons character, followed by The Puzzler, a new take on a public domain character of the same name:
  13. Astro-Man was also a member of The Tomorrow Squad for awhile, but realized he had a higher purpose
  14. That is definitely one of their inspirations. A little Challengers of the Unknown in there as well. They're supposed to be heroes who exist between the Golden & Silver ages of heroes Here's what will be the cover art for this (whenever I get off my butt and write it)
  15. Some new material from Dan Houser, who is the line artist for ICONS. Here is the Tomorrow Squad: Doc Tomorrow, Astral Girl, Beacon & Quartz:
  16. A pair of new pieces from Joe Singleton. This is The Hierophant, the head of the Church of Cosmic Transcendence, and ruler of The Theocracy: Combat troops of the Theocracy:
  17. Here's a color composite of the group:
  18. This is the Combat trooper for MIDIAN, an organization based in the Middle East. Considered a terrorist group, they strive to recreate the ancient kingdom of Midian: This is Bloodwolf, also known as Zeeb. He was a prince of ancient Midian. He was supposedly slain during the Time of Judges, but was saved by the gods. He is able to turn into a reddish liquid form.
  19. Here is the Japanese villain, Ultra Spectre X. Think a villainous Ultraman type. Major Miracle is a Golden Age Italian hero. His inspiration was Red Rube, a Captain Marvel knock-off from the 40's, Threw in a little of Cap himself as well
  20. I haven't posted anything in awhile, since I quit Photobucket over their recent move to screwing over users. Anyway, here's some new pieces from Juan Paolo. First up is Strigoi, the leader of a group called Tyranny, Inc. The image is based on a head bust done by another artist named James Sheilds: This is The Blood Guard, Tyranny Inc's elite combat troops:
  21. These are all characters who are going to be in supplements I'm writing for a different system. I might do Champions versions eventually for release (I had talked to Jason at GenCon after the private Strike Force session I played in from that KS, and he was open for setting me up with a license for HERO), but for now, I'm doing them for other game systems. I just like sharing the art on different forums, as it sometimes drums up more work for the artists who do commissions for me
  22. Another composite: The Plague Doctor looking Vigilante I posted earlier, with a second one, and some stock art of steampunk/clockwork inspired spy drones in the middle: This is Faye Tality, assassin for hire:
  23. Been awhile since I posted anything here. Got some new stuff to share. A couple of composite images from a bunch of commissions. I found a group of villains on the public domain wiki called the Black Ace Gang. They fought Captain Marvel Jr. Non-powered, kind of cheesy but violent bank robbers. As a fan of the Royal Flush Gang, I saw potential in the concept. So, thanks to the magic of Joe Singleton, here is a modern update of this group. From left to right is Black Ace, Queen of Hearts, Jack of Diamonds and the King of Clubs A long time ago, I was a player in a Champions campaign run by my friend Curt Fernlund. He was an artist, and drew all our characters and the villains we faced. Once he was done with villains, he would pass them onto me. I saved them, and with his permission, have been adapting/updating them. This is Luna, an organization we faced. They were led by Khonshu, the Egyptian god. I took him out, and removed some members. In their place, I added 3 Lunar/Moon gods. From left to right is Men (Lunar god of Anatolia), Artume (Etruscan night goddess, similar to Artemis), Vampyre (a clone of my hero Necromancer), Night Stalker (originally called Moon Knight), Cricket & Crater (who will likely be changed to Eclipse or something else), the 4 super agents of the group, Kaskuh (Moon God of the Hittites) and the standard Luna agent. I'll probably be adding more to the organization when I can afford to send more work Joe's way.
  24. some new pieces from Joe. This ship is used by the Renegade Swarm Queen and her team mates to get around a yet to be named vigilante wearing a plague doctor mask and using scalpels as weapons:
