  1. Personally, I thought Dragon 9 was cool. He was like a chinese James Bond in olden times. A bit more comedic than the Roger Moore era bond, but I thought he was an interesting character. I liked how Ekin Chang's character was a baker. Added an interesting twist to the sterotypical swordsmen. And yeah, the final fight scene was not as good as A Man called Hero. It was adequate though. I still think the other character's main technique had a cheesy name though (my friend has my dvd, so I can't check on it, but I know the word fairy was in it) I watched Fist of Legend again yesterday. Damn, I love that movie! Why is it that Hollywood can't give these HK actors movies that play to their strengths? I mean, Jackie's US work is hit or miss, Jet Li's done some real crap work, and Chow Yun Fat got lucky with Anna and the King (which was a great casting move, considering his lengthy resume of dramatic roles), and I am keeping my fingers crossed for Bulletproof Monk.
  2. Not a problem. Always glad to share info on good films!
  3. Ok, it's *that* Executioners. I normally know it as The Executioners: Heroic Trio II. I've got Heroic Trio, and have seen Executioners. Didn't like it as much as the first one. Not a bad movie, and the bad guy was kind of cool (though not as cool as the Eunuch in HT 1). Trivia Tidbit: Anthony Wong is in both Heroic Trio and Black Mask. His character in both films is the same. In HT, he's a cannibalistic kung fu zombie with a flying guillotine, in BM he's a paranoid drug dealer whose family has been wiped out by the super soldiers. I just thought it was cool that his character in both films had the same name... Saw The Accidental Spy today. Nice film from Jackie Chan. I hope they do a sequel, cause it left it open for one.
  4. The Duel is a cool flick. I loved Dragon 9 (A james bond type) who provided some funny moments. Man called Hero is good too, but can drag at times. Let me know how Story of Ricki is; I haven't seen it yet. Don't know Executioners though; who is in it?
  5. Yeah, I loved that movie, so the comic should be pretty sweet Duel is pretty good. Some nice special effects, though one character's main move sounds silly in English (something like 8 Fairy Stance or something like that) Yes, I watched it Wednesday night. I saw it at home. To combat video piracy, they released it on DVD this month (VCD was in February). While I got my copy from a reliable ebay seller, it is on sale at various online retailers. http://www.hkflix.com or http://www.pokerindustries.com are two places I suggest getting it at. Maybe http://www.yesasia.com as well. Price is usually around 15-16 bucks, not including shipping. HERO has some excellent, if short, fight sequences. The story is good, though not as good as CTHD. Sometimes it dragged in spots, and a few times it got a little confusing. It was a beautiful film. The countryside, the costumes, just wonderful to behold. I can see why it got an oscar nomination for best foreign film. It's use for Ninja Hero is a great. Some cool stunts in the fight scenes definitely. Donnie Yen vs Jet Li was a great fight scene, and worth the movie alone, imho
  6. I want to get those two series for sure. Might also get some copies of Legendary Couple and Storm Riders Butterfly and Sword I've seen twice before. Great stuff. Was Duel to the Death remade as The Duel in 2000 (with Ekin Chang and Andy Lau)? That one I have. Dragon Inn I still need to get. Hero was pretty good. The fight scenes are not as long as they usually are, but they were pretty good. The story can be slightly confusing, but I think overall, it was a good picture. The fight scene between Jet Li and Donnie Yen was the best of the bunch.
  7. Jet Li's HERO... Just got this movie on DVD. Plan on watching it soon as a double Jet Li feature with Swordsman 2. I saw Swordsman the other day, and it kicked ass. Really cool swordplay stuff. Definitely one for the Ninja Hero viewing list. Same with Butterfly & Sword too! BTW, there is a comic company putting out trades of some HK comics. They have Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon, Storm Riders, Heaven Sword & Dragon Sabre (part of which was made into Kung Fu Colt Master/Kung Fu Cult Master, which Jet Li was in), and a few others. I downloaded a sample pdf, and it looks pretty neat. http://www.comicsone.com is the site, if anyone is interested in checking it out
  8. Re: Arachneida Mk 3 I like the look of this one. Kind of a cloak and dagger (ie spy genre) feel, with a bit of a masked pulp hero because of the mask. I also like the background on this character. Pretty cool

    Super Names

Here's one I played in a game that I didn't see on the last roundup: American Gothic (dark, vigilante styled patriot hero with phasing powers similar to the vision) Another one I recently came up with is Deathstrike (electrocutes people by touch)
  10. Re: Interested ? I know I'd like to see, so if you wouldn't mind scanning the stuff, please do!
  11. Re: Succubus Storn, These pics rock! Like I mentioned on rpg.net about your Eunuch image on your site, this one gives me an idea for a villain to use in my buffy game. I love how you draw stuff for a superhero rpg, but it has alot of crossover gaming potential. Kudos man, you are constantly proving why you are one of my favorite rpg artists....
  12. Yeah, Versus is great. Even more unique would be Wild Zero. Punk Rockers, zombies, aliens, and cross dressing. Great stuff
  13. Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: "Angel" the RPG Funny enough, the infamous Hopping Vampire didn't actually drink blood. It would feed on human breath. When they started featuring them in HK cinema, they went with the blood drinking for the Mr. Vampire and other films to feature them. I found this out while doing research for a setting I did using All Flesh Must Be Eaten (using the material in their HK book, Enter the Zombie). When it came time to make the vamps, I made two kinds: one who drinks blood, and one who feeds on human breath (in AFMBE terms, that was Chi/Essence). Not having seen Ninja Hero yet, I am not sure how I would do it in HERO terms though. Endurance is the closest thing to Essence, but they would also drain body as the feeding can kill.
  14. Funny enough, when I converted an old Dark Champions game over to Feng Shui, one of the pc's decided to make his character a Ghost. He was killed, came back, and didn't realize he was dead. He'd walk through walls, and never realize it, or his "gun" would just appear in his hand, and never be drawn from it's holster. Once the other pc's figured out what he was, they confronted him about it... PC : "Spector, you're DEAD!" Spector: "I'm not dead. I'm corporeally challenged" Best quote that game ever saw...
  15. Re: Ultimate NINJA HERO resource!!! This is a great film. I heard that Disney got the US rights, but I've also heard they are going to edit it, and worse, dub it. Best to get the DVD. I got mine here in NYC in Chinatown for 12 bucks. It was worth it. I'd also reccomend some of the Mr. Vampire films, cause Hopping Vampires are just too cool
  16. Another one Here's a link to another image I ordered from the same artist. It's a rendition of Doctor Zero, from the Shadowline Saga comics Marvel did way back in the day... http://hjem.get2net.dk/kmp/images/supmisc/drzero.jpg
  17. Here's an image I had done for my old Aberrant campaign. The character is named Lamashtu, after an ancient Mesopotamian Goddess. She has claws and flight (which is obvious from the image ), but her main power is the ability to infect people with various plagues by touching them. She was going to be part of a group called "The Pantheon" which was various Novas whose powers allowed them to take on the names of various deities in mythology. Never got off the ground though, but I kept the image for future use. Hopefully someone will get some use out of it. Here's the link to the jpg, as the file is too large to attach to the post: http://hjem.get2net.dk/kmp/images/supmisc/lamashtu.jpg
