  1. I gotta go with the B-25, because it looks like a B-24 had a baby. Plus, y'know, the Doolittle Raid was pretty gutsy, with those taking off from a carrier. Winston Churchill vs. Teddy Roosevelt
  2. I remember one day when my kids were small (like, preschool age), and I was looking for our cordless phone handset. My oldest said, "They should invent a phone that's connected to the wall by a cord, so you can't lose it." She was totally serious. I just smiled and said, "yeah, that's a good idea."
  3. In fairness to DT, I didn't get that last bit at all until Certified's post. Even then, I had to go back and look at the original post - and I don't really see him being all that swole.
  4. As the son of a former B24 pilot, I approve this message.
  5. Binge-watched season 1 of Extraordinary on Hulu. A world where everybody (well, nearly everybody, except the main character) gets a super-power at / around age 18. Not all powers are great - a guy working at a party store has the ability to exhale helium, and a woman seen at a bar can instantly change her hair color, style, and length. Not a great show IMO, but entertaining enough for me to watch all 8 episodes. I think it's been picked up for another season.
  6. Gold for command. They're more likely to piss their pants and need to hide it, than to get shot and need to hide it. Though why they didn't do brown trousers, we'll never know. Stargate SG-1 team (TV show, season 1) vs. Stargate team (movie)
  7. That might more accurately be called a "wrasslin' match"
  8. LotR, as the other one has a silly name. Plus I'm pretty sure LotR sold a lot more copies. A Star Wars Stormtrooper vs. a Star Trek Federation red-shirted ensign.
  9. Was that Texas man formerly from Florida? That would explain a lot.
  10. Oh, I didn't expect them to become canon in the Fish-Guy-verse. I just wanted to share them because I had fun writing them up, and also to check whether I had Pinprick's wording okay. Though if there is anything in there you wish to use, feel free. I make no claim to ownership at all. I plan to use the Miscreants (well, my version) in my next Champions adventure, set in San Francisco. (In my game world, superpowers have only been around a few years; the government just revamped Alcatraz to be a super-prison, and I'm planning a prison riot / jail break. The uncaptured members of the two villain groups planning the jail break have convinced the Miscreants to pull their normal schtick in nearby San Jose, to draw the heroes out of town and buy them time to get things rolling at Alcatraz before the heroes can return to town.)
  11. Okay, I added a new Miscreant (Red Robin Hood). Sorry, Pinprick, but they have an archer now (kinda sorta). Miscreants.pdf Edited to add: I updated the PDF - it occurred to me that since the new member wasn't mentioned in the Sammies' run-in with the Miscreants in the first book, I should reword what Pinprick had to say so he says that he hadn't seen her in person but saw video of her afterward.
  12. Hmmm... that's an idea - have a member of the Miscreants who is actually redeemable, having their doubts, and the heroes might turn to their side. I might add another member to the team. Since I currently have seven players, an 8th villain isn't too overpowering, and if the players see the opportunity, they might actually turn the tables on the villains. Beyond that, thanks for the kind words. I had a lot of fun writing them up. And I liked having all of the info (except the direct quotes from the villains) being one extended briefing by Pinprick. He is an awesome character.
  13. Okay, so I finally got the Miscreants written up for my Champions campaign, and thought I'd share them here. Note that my world's version of PRIMUS is called PRIME, and that characters started at 315 points. (Well, 300 points plus up to 15 additional for picture, background, and NPCs. Since I do full writeups for my villains, I give the villains the full 15 extra points.) I try to keep the villains at the same power level as the heroes, hence why the Miscreants are all 373 total points. Also, I allowed the PCs to have 5 of their base 60 Complication points come from five 1-point Quirks (brazenly stolen from GURPS), and always do that with the villains. (I find it rounds them out nicely.) My apologies in advance to Hermit for any major divergence these are from the Miscreants in his world, or if the character pics aren't at all how he sees his characters. Also, I decided to do the text write-ups (Background, Personality, Powers/Tactics, and Appearance) as if from one long briefing from Pinprick, so I also apologize for any places where I mis-characterized the diminutive archer. 14. So... Last week, Trump told everybody he'd be arrested Tuesday. I waited all day, and dang it, it didn't happen. In retrospect, I should have realized that would be the case. After all, he lies like most people breathe. Still, I was hopeful this would be the one time he told the truth. Ah, well, I guess I can still hope...
  15. I'm ready for when the next person posts about something measured in giraffes, or puppies, or whatever.
  16. I was going to post this in the Funny Pics thread, but worried someone would go all gun-rights on it, so I'm posting it here instead. The patent for the most American mousetrap ever.
  17. How can you say that?! I am incredibly... um... offended... uh, okay, point taken.
  18. He's trying to tell you to return his Illudium Q-36 Explosive Space Modulator.
  19. I had to send the link to this video to my sister Patt, who is very Irish and considers St. Patty's Day her personal holiday. Thank you very much for this!
  20. I had to share this pic with my daughter. When she went to visit her college (Michigan Tech) for the first time, she stayed in a room with the RA (the person in charge of that floor of the dorm, which had rooms for both boys and girls). And while she was there, one of the students came to the RA because he and some of his friends had tried to flush a pear and it got stuck. When asked why they were flushing a pear down the toilet, their response was, "Well, the apple went down without a problem."
  21. MOVIE I HATE: Being There MOVIE I THINK IS OVERRATED: Lord of the Rings MOVIE I THINK IS UNDERAPPRECIATED: Sneakers MOVIE I LOVE: My Favorite Year MOVIE I CAN WATCH OVER AND OVER: Sneakers MOVIE THAT MADE ME FALL IN LOVE WITH MOVIES: Monty Python and the Holy Grail MOVIE I WISH I MADE: Fletch (I actually really liked the variations they did from the book, but I would have cast *anybody* but Chevy Chase in the lead) MOVIE THAT CHANGED MY LIFE: Jaws. (We saw this just before the family went down to Florida - no idea what Mom and Dad were thinking. It kept 11 year-old me out of the ocean.) MOVIE THAT SURPRISED ME: Ant-Man GUILTY PLEASURE: The Tuxedo MOVIE I SHOULD HAVE SEEN BY NOW BUT HAVEN'T: E.T. MOVIE TRILOGY MASTERPIECE: Back to the Future MOVIE MASTERPIECE: The Princess Bride (It's got everything - fencing, fighting, torture, revenge, giants, monsters, chases, escapes, true love, miracles...)
  22. How long is the Extra Time? If it takes a full Phase to cast, then Grailknight is correct, the Haymaker'd spell hits at the end of Segment 9. If it's an Extra Segment, then I'd think it would hit at the end of Segment 10. And if it takes 1 Century, then it hits at the end of Segment 9... on February 28, 2123.
  23. I knew a guy who was Head of Corn in the Army. He was a Colonel.
