Re: A Cross Genre Mystery
Oh! I know.... the one of the characters stumbles across a report about the weight change. Then one of them hears about PI calculating differently a few thousand digits in, were all previous calculations in error? The electromagnetic force, gravity, C, all these things drift slowly, but with increasing speed from what they were. This could be worked in as background material during an existing adventure as hooks for what is to come.
For the actual lead in, mechanical things start breaking or falling apart, perhaps something important to the team.
A powerful wizard, being in another time/world/dimension has worked magic of such magnitude as to change the nature of reality. He is trying to restore a dead child back to life, and will not stop (or whatever other motive).
1. Clues lead character to a mystical consultant. Consultant sends them on a quest to the portal that will take them to the other world.
2. Others are trying to get there first.
3. Folklore sends the characters to the right region.
4. Do they look for the wizards life source and find a way to defeat him? Do they try to convince him to stop or do they find a way to reunite the wizard with his lost one?
