  1. Re: Acro is bored Naw, I couldn't handle the food. My lair is under Alcatraz.
  2. Re: Acro is bored Well, "asking for it" might be a one way to put it. lol I will say that it was not entirely unwarranted nor are your questions mutually exclusive in that respect And, hey, I read that negative rep has been removed. I have -1k. I'm unique as can be. How cool is that? Or perhaps I am your savior. All your negative rep taken unto me. Paypal me a dollar. kthnx.
  3. Re: Acro is bored Maybe it was the naked pictures of myself I sent in for the Horror Enemies book...
  4. Re: Madstone Someone must have found out that I am secretly Rob Leafhead (Leifeld).
  5. Re: Origin suggestions needed ASAP That's what was asked for, kinda sorta...
  6. Re: Re-tooling an Old Concept: Herakles You could also calculate the weight of the world based on what the world was considered to be by the greeks then. It was much smaller, after all.
  7. Re: Origin suggestions needed ASAP She was part of an alien super soldier program and eventually categorized as an illegal WMD. All the super soldiers were rounded up and ejected into space in garbage capsules when the world, finally, after much struggle advanced into a peaceful society. So she's basically considered a horror on her world, a tool for destruction, and even in her own mind she's a terrible thing. So she struggles to prove (mostly to herself) that she can do good.
  8. Re: Help with my character:Stopwatch Like many of the folks here, I'd suggest altering "yourself" than the world around you. Even if the SFX is you're altering the world around you, it's much more inexpensive to effect only yourself. All you have to do is change your point of view for the game mechanics from your character seeing it (the world is altered) to the rest of the world seeing it (you're altered - more skilled, faster, have awareness of things no one else does, etc). It's still the "same power" SFX-wise.
  9. Re: Re-tooling an Old Concept: Herakles Maybe it's a particular property of the place, itself. "Good Handholds. +200 STR Usable By Others, only for holding up the world." Or a combination of something similar and some limited str by the participants.
  10. Re: Great moments in RPG history A church wedding is interrupted by the evil undead, one of them with great powers who takes the whole church high, high up into the air so no one can escape. One character is knocked out of the church and begins falling to his doom. The player says he wants to try to make a parachute out of his pants by removing them and tying off the legs. Everyone laughs at it, but the GM dismissively says he can subtract a half die from the fall damage. After the impact, the character was only 1 body pip short of being killed. His pants-achute actually saved his life.
  11. Re: Saturday is Patriot day.... Even I had to give it a "huh?" at first. Saturday is 9/11.
  12. Re: Acro is bored Looking at it again today, I'm going to go ahead and post it. If I did it again, I'd make some changes.
  13. Re: Re-tooling an Old Concept: Herakles Was it possible in the myth for people to just, like, walk on over to where Atlas held everything up? I'd attribute it to an extra-dimensional place specially suited for that so the str needed would be different, still amazing levels of strength (no normal guy could do it), but not enough to actually hold the "modern/real" universe.
  14. Re: Origin suggestions needed ASAP On her world, everything's run by the super (fill in the blank) and humans are the equivalent of monkeys. She's a space monkey shot up into space in her world's early space program (and never recovered, of course). Eventually making its way here. Meanwhile, "back home" those wacky superior beings but analogs for our own world never survived the cold war. Even if you do make it back to that planet (via time travel), you're looking at the 1960's which isn't too useful. But the people there are super rough.
  15. Re: Acro is bored Yeah, I should add a rule that you can't get a second one until everyone else has had a chance. Consider it official. I already finished the Madstone one but I'm not sure about it, yet. I might redo it - this is where boredom and laziness come into conflict lol. We'll see how I feel about it tomorrow.
  16. Re: Acro is bored Make with the descriptin'
  17. Re: Acro is bored Since Squirrel didn't come back, I'll open it up again. To be as fair as possible, I'm not going to do this as a queue system. Some people might not have posted after seeing someone else as first and I want to spread it around, so to speak (I'm also trying not to open it up at the same time as previous offers for those who only are around at certain times). Hopefully that makes sense So, next poster in this thread wins.

    Blocking

Re: Blocking Blocks can go the other way, too. "I stand there and take it on the chin and laugh"
  19. Re: Help with Japanese villains It's been established that the word doesn't have to be "Shazam." Shazam, himself, gains his powers with from a different set of gods and seems to barter with deities for power to grant to others. This is similar in how CM3 gets his powers by saying "Captain Marvel" (but, oddly, the power words "Captain Marvel" do not conform to the god-source, but to the vessel of the powers - Captain Marvel, himself). This is why CM, MM, and CM3 share their power evenly... they all call from the same source. Meanwhile, Shazam, himself, is not weakened by the parceling of power. Nor is Black Adam (different source). Mary used to have a difference source of her own, but that was changed. Shazam's powers come from: Marzosh (Stamina) Arel (Speed) Ribalvei (Power) Voldar (Strength) Elbiam (Courage) Lumiun (Wisdom) Isn't that fun? Interestingly, Shazam doesn't appear to transform when he says his power word (or talks to Billy's larger alter-ego).

    How to kill a PC?

Re: How to kill a PC? I always like the "high note." Here's some ideas off the top of my head: The heroes have to get into a villain's lair. The villain is crazy tough, easily able to drop the team and make them fail. One hero manages to hold him off long enough for the others to get their job done but is smoked in the proccess (just as fun is letting that hero win, and then drop from the wounds - not unlike Optimus Prime). The hero takes the full brunt of a mega/doomsday weapon and saves someone else. This can be a bunch of schoolkids (the attacker was a time traveler trying to wipe out a future hero before he gets his powers), an important political or social figure, etc. Or, he manages to divert an incredible disaster at the cost of his life (stopping an asteroid, sealing off a gateway to hell, whatever). This one can be interesting if it's done with lots of witnesses or camera crews or something, turning him or her into a major icon that the successor will struggle to live up. Tower of Babel style thing (from the JLA arc). A series of pre-planned, single targeted attacks that are designed specifically to take down the heroes one by one. The bad guy can be all sorts of things from one of the heroes from an alternate timeline, evil versions of themselves from another dimension, a master plan coming to fruition from a long time nemesis, a kid who grew up and is exacting his vengeance against these "heroes" who failed to save his parents or something years ago during a super fight/disaster/whatever, a future villain taking them out before they grow in power and defeat him in the future.
  21. Re: Help me build the Civic Guard Just have some name/location ideas. Anyone want to take a swing at them? The Gatekeeper (San Francisco) Network (San Jose/Silicon Valley) The Raven (Baltimore - hey, Poe is buried there! or maybe something to do with the USS Constellation. Crabs = too obvious) Monument (Washington DC) Crime Wrangler (Dallas) (too goofy?)
  22. Re: Dealing with high powered characters And natural disasters (or unnatural ones, even). Stop the bridge from collapsing, respond to an erupting volcano, borrow the space shuttle and stop an oncoming planet killing meteor...
  23. Re: Acro is bored I have no idea where they are. I've moved three times since then (and ended up back where I started). Maybe I'll do up a Death Knight under the 5th rules....
  24. Re: Acro is bored Death Knight kicked major butt. Kev never let me play him after I wrote up the soul gem. lol
