  1. Re: Quote of the Week from my gaming group... From the just started Shadowrun campaign that I'm in. The newly formed group is brainstorming ideas on how to retrieve some stolen data when the troll gangbanger's chimes in with this: "I don't think we should do anything illegal." "Just kidding."
  2. Re: What Are You Listening To Right Now? Harpo's Ghost - Thea Gilmore
  3. Re: A Thread for Random Musings I'm having a miserable day in part because I have the song Let's Go to the Mall stuck in my head. And it's not even a real song! (bleepin' YouTube)
  4. Re: What Are You Listening To Right Now? Graceland - Paul Simon
  5. Re: Quote of the Week from my gaming group... Sound advice from our Firefly campaign: "Never bring an oboe to a gun fight."
  6. Re: What Are You Listening To Right Now? The Aeneid by Virgil (unabridged audio of Fagles translation)
  7. Re: WWYD - Marvel's Civil War I'd start a conversation with the GM about what a horrible idea he was inflicting on the campaign. Assuming the hypothetical GM still goes ahead with it: Black Arrow - There's no way she would register. She'd keep doing the hero thing and if the heat got to be too much she'd drive the 20 miles to Canada and visit there for a while. Darkshadow - He wouldn't register either, and he'd put a hurt on anybody who tried to make him. (Moon Knight/Batman clones don't register). If the law gets too close, he'd "retire" and start a new identity (rinse and repeat as needed) Captain Atlas - Mr. Silver Age would be the first to register.
  8. Re: Best and Worst Costume/Appearance Changes Captain (Mary) Marvel's switch from a red costume to white. It took a bit of getting used to, but it worked well and differentiated her from Billy (if only they could've thought of a good name for her).
  9. Re: The best retcons of all time Turning the old Archies Comics heroes into the !mpact line of comics (Fly, Jaguar, Shield, Comet, Web & Black Hood). Gosh, I miss those comics...
  10. Re: What Are You Listening To Right Now? This Beautiful Mess - Sixpence None the Richer
  11. Re: What Are You Listening To Right Now? The Best of the Worst - Henny Youngman (take his wife, please!)
  12. Re: WWYCD: Will you forgive me? Black Arrow's greatest villain is her dad, aka the evil Malefactor. She hates him so much it's on her character sheet as a psych lim (trust me, he deserves it). With what he's done, there's no way she's forgiving him - but the whole situation would tear her up.
  13. Re: Going out with a bang My Champions characters usually end up retiring rather than having aiming for a glorious death. Fantasy characters I grow tired of, however, tend to start acting very recklessly. I and another player were actually recently accused of attempting character suicide in the Firefly game that I'm in. It's known that we both plan to bring in new characters, but there's no hard timetable for it. We were also not enjoying the current plot line (which revolved around my character, so I couldn't avoid it). When it came time to storm a guarded building, we argued over who got to go first. But it wasn't really attempted suicide (though I wouldn't have shed tears) - my character just felt that since he was the captain and the whole mess was because of him, he should take the greater risk. And both characters survived.
  14. Re: Quote of the Week from my gaming group... One of the players in our Firefly campaign had a question about the crew's communicators (which we call radios for some reason), which lead to this exchange: Player 1 - Do we have a secure channel on these things? GM - No, your radios aren't that good. Player 2 - We need to come up with some hand signals. Player 3 - Yeah, because that will work real well over the radio.
  15. Re: What Are You Listening To Right Now? Cake Walkin' Babies (From Home) - Louis Armstrong
  16. Re: What do you consider “Modern Paranormal”? I pretty much agree with Vanguard - especially about Highlander and the Anita Blake novels.
  17. Re: What Are You Listening To Right Now? The BBC Radio adaptation of The Hobbit
  18. Re: What Are You Listening To Right Now? The unabriged audio version of The Silmarillion (specifically - "Of the Voyage of Earendil and the War of Wrath")
  19. Re: What Are You Listening To Right Now? My Favorite Headache - Geddy Lee
  20. Re: Quote of the Week from my gaming group... From Tuesday's session: "We only kill carbon-based lifeforms." (of course, in Firefly all lifeforms are carbon-based...)
  21. Re: What Are You Listening To Right Now? songs from the gutter - Thea Gilmore (but I'm about to switch to Red Sox baseball)
  22. Re: Now Taking Preorders For the Champions 25th-Anniversary Special Edition! I feel your pain, Squirrel. I'd love to have a copy, but I've recently acquired something known as a "mortgage payment" which seems to be taking the few dollars left behind by Mr. FICA.
  23. Re: If You Had To Play a Marvel Character… I just saw what USAgent's been up to in New Invaders (last time I saw him was in Force Works). Can I switch my vote to Hercules?
  24. Re: If You Had To Play a DC Character… Captain Marvel (Jerry Ordway version)- Billy is everything that a superhero should be. And he's a flying brick.
  25. Re: If You Had To Play a Marvel Character… Interesting question. My favorite Marvel character has always been Hawkeye, but I wouldn't want to play him in a game (pure weapon masters aren't my thing). First choice: US Agent (circa his WCA days). This guy started off as an A-1 jerk, but actually developed some character by the end. He made a lot of mistakes, but he always tried. And he had the cool martial brick thing going on. If it was an all-guy gaming group and we needed somebody to play a female character, I'd go with The Wasp (as portrayed in her days as Avengers chair). There are few characters that have had as much development as Janet.
