AEW held the Dynasty event yesterday and all the major belts were up for grabs

    Trent Beretta beat Matt Sydal

Shibata and Orange Cassidy beat Lee Moriarty and Shane Taylor

Switchblade Jay White and the Gunns beat The Acclaimed and Billy Gunn to win the AEW trios belts

Okada beat Pac to retain the Continental belt

The House of Black beat Edge, Eddie Kingston and Mark Briscoe

Willow Nightingale beat Julia Hart to become the new TBS champion

Roderick Strong beat Kyle O'Reilly to retain the International belt

Chris Jericho beat Hook to become FTW champion

Toni Storm beat Thunder Rosa to reain the Women's title

The Young Bucks beat FTR and became the new AEW tag team champions

    Will Osprey beat Bryan Danielson

Swerve Strickland beat Samoa Joe to become the AEW heavyweight champion

I am surprised only by Jericho beating Hook (and kind of saddened by it, as Hook is one of the better up and comers), Willow beating Hart, though I think may have been long in coming and now sets up Mone vs Willow. Wish they could decide on what to do with House of Black, seriously. They have 2 if not 3 (not sold on Brody King) best in ring guys out there, have set them up as very good psychological manipulators and yet never seem to really accomplish anything. I am indifferent to Swerve or Samoa as champions (They lost me when they had Swerve break into a persons supposed home and threatened his infant (who granted wasn't there) with injury) and Joe, honestly, is a little too long in the tooth for me (one of the real problems I have with AEW now is the amount of elder statesmen (wrestlers over 45 if not 50) taking precedence (yes I include Edge and Jericho in this). Not surprised about White and Gunns as Billy (see my previous comment about elder wrestlers) shouldn't be wrestling and now they can have the Acclaimed go after tag belts.

Glad they had Osprey win, can't wait for him to leave Callas, as he doesn't need a mouthpiece.

Bullpens and bad defenses always bring you down....

O's in Boston.  Red Sox come into the series 7-3.  Lose game 1 on Tuesday, 7-1...but gave up 4 runs after the 6th.  2 errors don't help.  Game 2, jump out to a 5-0 lead...starter throws 5 shutout innings, but 86 pitches.  Bullpen gives up 3 in the 6th, 4 in the 7th.  2 more errors don't help, but technically only 1 unearned run.

Tonight?  Top 8th, Sox up 2-1.  Error on a ground ball allows wunderkind Holliday to reach first.  Out.  Double play grounder to second...flip to the SS...who never touches the bag.  Both feet cross the line of the bag...but neither touches it.  Instead of a DP and inning over...the inning continues.  Another pitching change and.......boom....ball nestled down the right field line, into the seats.  2 run homer, Orioles have the lead.

Technically only 1 unearned run, because the scoring rules say you can't assume a double play, and the runner was out at first.  Hooey!  This is as much an error as the ground ball to 3rd was.

Sox just tied it on a drive that cleared the monster seats, so now it's 3-3.  More time for their bullpen to implode, perhaps.

    EDIT....O's score 6 in the 10th, so...yeah, that's a bullpen implosion.

O's sweep the Sox and flip positions with em...from 1 1/2 back to 1 1/2 up.

Yeah, the MLB analyst shows talked about how Boston just kept giving the O's, a world series favorite, extra outs all series. They really miss Trevor Story, it is showing the holes in Dever's defense at 3rd.

I also wish baseball would adapt the team error - the popup that falls between 2 -3 guys all standing staring at each 2 feet away other as it lands, as an example.

  3. So, they are about to become my local team officially, wonderful, as I live in the placerville area and work in Rancho Cordova.

On a side note, I am happy with the 4-2 start from my Angels, but up next we will have home and home series with Boston and TB, then apparently have upcoming series with the Reds, Orioles again, Twins and end month with Phillies. If we are close to 500 I would be shocked and thrilled.

Spend money on a broadcast package for a team that's going to lose 100 games this year? Tempting. 🙄

I basically pay Directv $160 a year to watch 130 or so Angel games - not including vs Giants or A's as those are our local markets or the games that get streamed, as MLB package doesnt include those, which seems annoying.

Rockies are down 16-1 to Arizona in the 8th.

What a way to open the new season.

A few hours ago, I was wondering who would.finish closer to the bottom of their league, the Rockies or the Broncos. Now, I'm not really wondering any more.

Better question, who will have more points per game average by seasons end.

  6. One of the analysts on MLB commented that with those 3 leading off, if your the starting pitcher at home, get through the 1st and odds are you have a lead when you come back out and if on the road, you should have a lead when you first take the mound. only 12 times in history have 3 former MVPs batted 1-2-3, Dodgers should dwarf that by May.

  7. Well, he did help them get the best young pitcher coming out of Japan.

Again, I suspect that Ippei is falling on his sword for Ohtani. And I do like Ohtani. I think he is the type of player we want our stars to be, humble, a good teammate, does everything he can to help his team win, is good with fans/press and always seems to be enjoying playing baseball. I think this is something that will follow him around for awhile, even if it supposedly is all on Ippei.

  8. and the cynic in me really wonders about his interpreter betting 5 mil over 2  years himself or placing bets for Ohtani as a go between. Of course, I have to wonder why they are using an illegal bookie as opposed to somewhere legitimate. Again though, I doubt, unless it is really pushed, we will ever know. I suspect, even if it is the case, that Ippei and the Bookie get richer in their accounts and take the fall over it.

  9. The story has changed a bit now, from what I understand. Now he gave the money to Ippei to pay off gambling debts, not stolen. Also, others being questioned in the investigation have supposedly said they saw Ohtani with the bookie.

First point I would make is if there are no bets on baseball this should be a non-story. But, if he is using Ippei as a go between to place bets and it comes out those were on baseball, wow, because a precedent has already been set with the man who has the most hits in baseball history.

I suspect Ippei and the Bookie fall on their swords for Ohtani with a little more money in their bank accounts, because I no longer believe that his interpreter spent $5 million dollars on gambling in the last 2 years. I hate this as a fan of baseball and Ohtani, because he is, by all accounts, a good guy. It also makes me wonder if Arte Moreno (who I can believe was also cheap enough to not match the offer, so who knows) knew something and was why he made only token resistance to Ohtani walking away.
