    Problem is...D'backs go 0 for 9 (!!!) with RISP...yeah, each inning, 1-5, they've got 1 or more.  They don't score either.

This is one of those things. Do you give credit to Eovaldi, who has a rep for pitching better with men on, or do you blame the D'Backs hitters for not getting guys home from third with less then 2 outs? Maybe a combination of both.

And what the HECK is wrong in Buffalo???  Lose to the Jags, barely sneak by the terrible Giants, and now they're trying to make Mac Jones a Pro Bowler...18/21 for 199.  PATRIOTS are up 22-10 pending the extra point???  Halfway through the 4th.

My brother says its because Josh Allen is on the cover of Madden 23.

Also, just wanted to mention. A few years back, when it looked like Miami and Philly might play in SB, I commented how TV would love this because they could talk about Hurts and Tua replacing each other in consecutive years at Alabama in the National Championship game and winning it. Someone said that no one would care what happened X years ago in college. So last night they play each other on SNF and the opening story - Tua replacing Hurts then Hurts replacing Tua and how they are still in contact.

  3. Their hope is they were a better road team and they still haven't gotten into the Texas bullpen, really. but yeah, not good, especially as this was Valdez starting and he really was their ace until they got Verlander back. but that 1st, seeing eye single, bloop single, error by Valdez for first run and men on 1st and 3rd, hard single for run, all on 10 pitches, strikeout ( on a very bad call - tipped 3rd strike ball that hit dirt but ump called out), then another single before another out.

and that bases loaded 5th for Houston, those were batters 9, 1 (Altuve) and 2 (Bregman)

Be glad the Raiders beat the Pats...and how they did.  Jimmy G couldn't play the 2nd half...and the Pats *still* can't overcome, which is a deep statement about the state they're in.  And yeah, OK, disliking the Raiders is entirely understandable, but they're a terrible team.  Wins?  Broncos, Packers, Pats.  Barely, in all cases.  Packers are actually ranked 20 right now (Pro Football News' rankings, counting most of today's games)...Broncos 28, Pats 29.  Raiders are 25.  They're 3-3 but that's based on a soft schedule.  They do still have Bears, Giants, Vikes, and Broncos, so 7 wins is possible, if Jimmy G can play.  (With Hoyer...eww.  Not good.)  But...Lions, Jets, Dolphins, Chiefs twice, and Chargers.  And the Colts...which may prove to be another they should win.  Leave that in the indeterminate column.

What the HECK is going in with Buffalo, too?  Down 6-0 at home to the Giants???  But they're on the move now...

This is yet another day where Chaos Reigns.  Niners and Eagles lose, who'da thunk it?

EDIT:  and it could've been a triple.  Bills play bad on offense for much of the game...make a number of execution errors late, Allen missing an open receiver that would've resulted in a game-ending first down, then a missed FG giving the Giants a decent window.  Bills have to hold off 2 plays inside the 10...first got called a pass interference on em, it was egregious.  Second *could* have been.

So...another game where a nominally far superior team plays down to the level of its competition.  Arguably, THAT is the NFL's New Normal.

Don't forget not getting the FG at the end of the first half when Taylor inexplicably switched plays to a run that was stuffed with no timeouts left with 13 secs left, iirc, and the time ran out. Think they could have used those 3 points at the end of the game?

  5. And now 5 of 6 of the division winners are out and it only took a Texas collapse in the last 2 weeks that allowed Houston to take division and now they have a chance to overcome that. Course, I still expect Houston to win and think now we will see a Philly/Houston WS.

  6. Cassie and Janet (who was established in Ant Man as working right along with Pym and has been gone for 20 years), but who is the third. Can't be the girl from MoM as it is pretty established in the movie she is from an alternate dimension.

I am not trying to argue as I do think that their PC push for female characters is over the top pendulum swing response.

On a similar thing, was funny. My wife and I were watching Mr. and Mrs. Smith (Pitt and Jolie movie, 2005) and once the secrets come out and they start comparing careers, it was ridiculous how much better she had been. The scene with the "how many people have you killed" happened and I looked at my wife and said when the movie came out, that was funny, but now it feels like they could have done a better job of making them close or equals.

  7. Yeah, the 3 AL east teams, the division that was considered the best in baseball where all 5 were over 500, iirc, in August was a really bad showing. They talk about the time off, but I really wonder if the fact that teams like the Dodgers, Braves, Orioles, Rays etc had all clinched at least a playoff game early had more to do with it. Easy to play when you can relax a little. Look how much better the non playoff teams seem to play once eliminated.

Where I disagree with the article is, it's assuming the only strategy for the draft is go for the QB, when you don't have a QB.  Yeah, that's modern conventional wisdom, but that doesn't mean it's right.  Get the pieces.  Get the o-line, the d-line.

Can't agree with this more. We have talked about the step back that young QBs seem to take, but a big part of that is an O-line that cannot block and are getting them killed or receivers who can make spectacular catches but not ones that hit them in the hands (this feels like an epidemic in the NFL). Carr's brother is a great example of this, but I have seen it recently with Burrows and Lawrence.

  9. Don't forget, regarding Cassie, that at age 10, her father, Hope, and the Drs. Pym disappeared for 5 years. She already knew about the quantum stuff through her father being Ant Man, though not sure she had met any of the Pyms. Having said that, i could see her spending those 5 years trying to learn everything she could about Pym's research in trying to find out what happened to them.

  10. As an example - see Purdy of the 49ers, Mr. Irrelevant (final draft pick) now leading a 5-0 team having beaten out Garropolo (solid QB who just seemed to win but got hurt) and Trey Lance - a first round draft pick for the starting job.
