Only semi-related, but let me tell you about a race I ran in high school track.  True story.
 
I was running the mile relay, in the second position for our team, because I really wasn't all that good.  For those not familiar with the mile relay, the starting runners run once around the track each holding a baton.  When they get all the way around, they pass their batons to the next runners on their teams, who then run around the track to pass the batons to the third runners, who run around the track to pass the batons to the last runners, who make the final lap around the track. 
 
So after the first set of runners start out, I take my position and wait for my teammate to come back around and pass me our baton.  As they're coming up, I can see that our team's runner is just barely ahead of the other team's runner.  So as soon as I grab the baton, I take off at my fastest.  And I can hear the "crunch, crunch, crunch" of footsteps right behind me.  So I push harder, but dang it, I can hear he's still right there, on my tail.  I keep pushing myself faster than I'd ever run before, with that "crunch, crunch, crunch" of footsteps right behind me all the way.  I get back around, pass my baton to the next runner on our team, and stumble off the track, too wiped out to even watch the rest of the race.
 
Our coach comes up to me, puts his arm around my shoulders, and says, "That was incredible!  That's the fastest I've ever seen you run!"  He chuckles.  "Too bad you didn't need to run that hard."
 
Apparently, when the other team went to pass the baton, they dropped it.  By the time their runner picked it up and started running, he was waaaay behind me.
 
I was hearing my own footsteps and was trying to outrun... myself.

I seem to get that person every time. Extremely sarcastic and annoying, then they follow me out and home. 

Today I had the nastiest, slowest, rudest cashier I've ever had. I guess it's my fault for using the self checkout

It could be any one of them. But which one ? Which ones ?
Pretty *fishy* what happened to me on that ladder.

But wait ! It happened at sea. See ? C for Catwoman !
Yet, an exploding shark *was* pulling my leg...
The Joker !
All adds up to a sinister riddle. Riddle-R. Riddler !
Oh, the thought strikes me. So dreadful, I scarcely dare give it utterance.
The four of them. Their forces combined.
Holy nightmare !
 
Penguin, Joker, Riddler... and Catwoman, too ! The sum of the angles of that rectangle is too monstrous to contemplate !
We've been given the plainest warning. They're working together to take over..
Take over *what*, Batman ? Gotham City ?
Any *two* of them would try that !
The whole country ?
If it were three of them, I would say yes, but *four* ? Their minimum objective must be... the *entire* world.

We had to ice-fish by chopping through the ice with our fingernails! And we didn't have fishing poles, we caught the fish with our teeth! And then used the fish as clubs to fight off the polar bears!
 
AND WE LIKED IT!!!

My response on first seeing this was, "HEY!"

I still totally love Batman (1966).
 

If he'd done it twice in a row I might concede the point but as not Godzilla still holds the crown.
I grant you you that is the best entrance.
 
 Maigret
Maigret sees Double. A seemingly boring accountant is killed but Maigret finds out he was living a double life. He seemed to care nothing for his wife and family. And then Maigret discovers he was out of work so where did the money come from ? Who killed him and why ? Maigret brings in his nephew who was also in the Death in First Class story.
Maigret and the Rich. Maigret is told to drop everything as a threatening letter has been received at the household of a prominent lawyer. There is no crime yet there is the threat of one. Maigret interviews the lawyer, his two working colleagues who work in the same building, his secretary, the staff, his children and eventually the man's wife. Then Maigret receives letters threatening the same and saying that they may be provoked into action earlier. Again Maigret brings in his nephew. So when the death does occur, who did it and why ? It was a surprise the victim and the culprit.
 
Bandido
Robert Mitchum goes South of the border to help Mexican rebels by hijacking an arms shipment. This brings him between the arms supplier and the man's wife. As usual the government troops are seen as the bad guys. It is not bad. Artillery, machine guns and grenades are all put to use.
 
The Queen and her Ceremonial Horses
Made in 1984 this documentary looks at the horses used by the Royal household and what they are used for. It also looks at the people who look after the horses. Fascinating snap shot.
 
Parkinson
This was an episode from 2002 with Paul O'Grady, Paul Whitehouse and Gillian Anderson. O'Grady was recovering from a heart attack and Anderson had just finished the X-Files and was going into a play in the West End. Parkinson was always one of the best interviewers on TV. Closest I have seen was Dick Cavett.
 
Playthroughs
Watched down several board game playthroughs. Two came from Before You Play and were Viscounts of the West Kingdom and Paladins of the West Kingdom. Nice to see how the game works before you spend money on getting it.
Also Wingspan playthrough using the European birds expansion.
 
The Dice Tower's Top 100 Games of all Time 2024 edition.
10 videos covering 100 games from each of three reviewers and also 100 selected by the audience. There were a few crossovers between the three and also the people showing the breadth of taste people have and also what is obtainable either through Kickstarter or the shops. Ark Nova topped the people's choice closely followed by Wingspan. But Lost Ruins of Arnak and other games in my own collection turned up which gratified me.
 
The 39 Steps
This was the 1970s version with Robert Powell playing Hanney. It has the ending with Hanney perched on the minute hand of Big Ben in order to stop the bomb going off. Worth a look.
 
Batman (1966)
The film that was made to help sell the series to foreign markets  it has Lee Meriwether's only appearance as Catwoman  But it has Cesar Romero as the Joker, Frank Gorshin as the Riddler and Burgess Meredith as the Penguin. Only Romero as the Joker does not have a lot to do but the others get chances to really shine. There is so much fun in this even after repeated watches it can still be enjoyed even when you know the jokes. And it just goes to show that sometimes you just can't get rid of a bomb.

Man I love that movie, and not just for the first time I remember seeing Michelle Pfeiffer, thought that helped. After seeing it, went and bought the book and read it.

"Lord, I'll never pick another pocket again as long as I live. I swear it. But here's the problem: You've got to let me live. How can I prove my good faith to you? If you've heard me, this ledge will remain steady as a rock, and that thing coming at me won't be what I think it is. If it is, there's no hard feelings, of course, but I'd be very disappointed."

I got the first three pretty quickly—the same first three as yours, and in the same order—and then kicked myself for not immediately knowing the fourth.

And yet, If Reynolds catches EITHER of the balls for first down that hit him in the hands (and the 2nd stomach), I think Lions win. I am ok with the coach going on 4th downs when they did, shows your trying to win and its what he has done all season.

Round, like a pizza. Hence all the hills and valleys and stuff.

That's got to be the longest sporting event I've ever heard of.
