Ridley Scott is really uneven in his films, he can do wonderful stuff then something just awful the next time.  I think he means for all of them to be thought-provoking but sometimes they're just bad.

I would point out that Ridley Scott did Prometheus, which is an Alien series film and is HORRIBLE, with stupidity spread throughout since without said stupidity, the movie wouldn't exist.

You would think superhero movies would get the same level of cultural appreciation today that comic books received from the literary community in their first 25 or so years of existence, wouldn't you?

Honestly I think EVERY Trend eventually gets resented by creators who feel pressured by the success of said trend.  It happened with Westerns, IIRC. And likely others too. Newspapers/sites enjoy quoting such things because it gets fans of the trend riled and stirs clicks and traffic.

To Ridley Scott, I say "I hear you even if I don't agree. I hope you make another good movie that brings you and others joy, meanwhile I'm going to watch Shang-Chi and have some popcorn. Later, dude!"

One, you forget Ant-Man was a singular film, as was its sequel. The after credits scene from the sequel connected it to the larger story.

Two, Eternals is another singular film, there is no guarantee of a sequel, however the script has many options on where The Story could go. All is still up in the air.

Three, most MCU movies are really singular ie self contained. Marvel & Feige has stated previously that knowing other previous films is not required to enjoy each film.

Hey, he did a two minute song in an animated movie about how cool he was, and it was one of the best parts of the film. What more proof do we need?

Jungle Cruise: Movie loosely based upon the theme park attraction. Some things will seem familiar if you've seen any of the Pirates of the Caribbean movies (a magic MacGuffin, a linked magic curse, undead pirates conquistadors). A decent watch. (Disney+)

Shang-Chi And the Legend of the Ten Rings: Entertaining martial arts-themed Marvel movie. (Disney+)

I am really hoping it gets the Titans treatment and S1 appears on TNT this year.

I actually think, due to the early critic reviews, Eternals will be helped by word of mouth, if given the time. Most of us who have seen it have come here and said we liked it, which, it seems, may have changed some opinions on seeing it.

Christopher and Grailknight, I think that's a reasonable viewpoint. But it's clear that Marvel set out to make a "wire-fu" style martial arts movie, because that's a popular and widely known genre for today's audience, and that style lends itself to superhuman feats. Shang-Chi is the most suitable vehicle for that purpose, especially since Iron Fist sputtered out on television. Plus, Marvel just addressed the James Bond analogy with Black Widow.

I just watched it a couple days ago and I think people are reaching to try and find something to be upset about.
The movie wasn't the best one, but I thought it was better than the Dark World, Iron Man 3 and Endgame.

As far as his comment about the mandarin and the orange.  I took it as him being sarcastic and scornful toward the entire idea that someone had even tried to impersonate him.

All in all the movie wasn't bad and I enjoyed it.  It isn't Captain America 1, but it wasn't IM3 either.

There are advantages to using D-listers.  Make a change to the icons, and watch the furore.  But we can make Shang-Chi a flying energy blaster and people are quite happy with it.  There's a greater ability to adapt the characters to the medium, and to anticipated audience reaction.  We want more female characters?  OK.  Makkarri, Sprite and Ikaris are female now.  Would that have worked with Flash and Cyborg?

I had similar feelings when Guardians of the Galaxy came out. I mean, these guys are a D-list title at best. Why give them a movie?

It turned out all right, and I expect this will too.

I admit I don't understand why the Rams signed him; I would not have called wide receiver a spot where the Rams badly needed help.

The question becomes: can Stafford throw to his WRs well enough to make it worth it?

Marvel has made Eternal's supporting character, Karun Patel, his own emoji.  This is cool because I and apparently everyone else really liked the character.

That is a hard question.  The characters are asked to make some very tough moral choices and they are all affected by them. But there is the question of which ones are changed by the choices and which just have there true character revealed.

Sprite, Sersi, Thena, Ikaris, Druig, and Kingo all have have interesting arcs.  However, which are changed versus which are revealed I couldn't say.

There is a final fight, but I don't think any character development is lost because of it. The movie seems to imply that Phastos wanted to give them much more advanced tech, but was held back....so I don't think humanity got "everything" from the Eternals. How much that element of the film bothers you is really up to each individual.

    From my Facebook review....

Movie Review: (That recently released Marvel movie that shall for the moment remain nameless due to FB algorithms.) I found this movie pleasantly surprising. It's certainly not deserving of the hate it's been getting. The movie is long and is in general less action packed than other recent Marvel films. That's to be expected as the film is packed with characters that need at least a minimal amount of fleshing out. This movie is beautifully shot and the sense of scale in scenes involving the Celestials is impressive. The film also benefits from a good cast and impressive FX work. There are a few plot holes, but they're all minor. My only major gripe is that I would have liked more investigation into what a 5000 year old person would be like and the film only hints at that on occasion. In that sense, this would have worked somewhat better as a series. There's two post credit sequences...one of which was expected and the other which came as somewhat of a surprise. The film also has a very good end fight....which potential directors of a Superman/Flash clash should take note of. As far as the criticisms of it being "woke" (a term I hate by the way), if seeing people on screen who aren't WASPs bothers you that much, I can't help you. This film will be divisive, but as a foundation to build upon future cosmic level MCU stories, this really is a must see.

It was part of what he said during the interview.
I assume it's true, actually.  This is something that we *don't* have a right to know.  That said, the J&J vaccine didn't have it.  Oh, but there were issues early on with it!!! But those issues were resolved well before the season started, and you still didn't go for it.

I'd also like to know if this allergy was sufficiently common that maybe they could substitute for it?  Maybe not, but I don't buy that the door was completely slammed on the 2-shot vaccines on that alone, without further evidence that this path was completely closed.

The utterly damning side tho, was that he knew the League did not consider him vaccinated.  He painted a picture that All Is Fine, disregarding the agreed-upon rules.  He even said "I didn't agree to these rules."  So ******* what?  You're accepting the check, you abide by the workplace rules.  My job, for some time, required a security clearance.  Condition of employment.  Yeah, well, that included random drug testing.  Not a huge deal...more annoying than anything.  But I had absolutely no right to object.  At one point, too, I got assigned to a field group.  That group took company vehicles to remote sites at times.  Ergo...a University operators' license was required.  Which means, of course, a state driver's license.  Which I didn't have.  Long story there.  Yes, well, as you can imagine...I got the license post haste.  Or I would have been fired, as the project I was on, was shutting down.  It was the listed job...or out the door.

So he gets no break for this in my book.  it's all part of his attempt to make out that he's a victim, when he's as freaking guilty as Henry Ruggs in my book.  And MORE culpable, IMO.  Ruggs was buzzed and young and impulsive and stupid.  Rodgers was cold and calculating and continued the lie for months.

Speaking of Ruggs and the Raiders...there's this, seen on Twitter:

Another sterling addition to Jon Gruden's resume.
