Asperion got a reaction from Gauntlet in Your Hero has the flu
If I were to make some character get any illness, I would ignore their ability scores and declare that they have the problem. Effects would be along lines of temporary drain that last until I say otherwise. Abilities affected would include CON, SPD, INT, STR, effective all (include powers). This drain will be strong, like reducing to half start levels. This might sound overkill, but consider how you respond to similar IRL diseases. Those that exist in a superverse should have a more powerful effect on those they infect.

Asperion got a reaction from cbullard in Those Detectors
I have always disliked those "magic wand" detectors, like I described in the original post. Instead, I used a method similar to what Dean described where someone needs to obtain a DNA sample for a lab test. The suspect can refuse to give the sample, there is no way to generally scan a room, along with more problems. The rationale used was that mutants possess a marker in their genes, but to detect it one needed to obtain that sample and pull it out to find. No remote detection system can locate them.

You can add to this growing list of beach killers - salt.
As there is more life (especially human), the need for salt will grow. Unfortunately, the beach is the easiest place to obtain this scarce resource. To make things worse, humanity has a POOR history when it comes to how we obtain anything that we desire. If the environment is destroyed in the process, who cares? We can always get more. Reality proves otherwise, but when has humanity paid attention?

Asperion got a reaction from DentArthurDent in Those Monsters
This will be a twist on what is becoming a more modern monster.
The Composite (aka Frankenstein) monster: Similar to the creature from the popular story, this being will be made from many different people, possess high strength, defense, and intelligence for the campaign. Nearly every attack will be immune (including mental). However, there will be some point that is a weak spot and allow all attacks to get past defense without hindrance. At such a, there is a possibility the Composite can "unravel " and come apart, loosing any energy that is holding it together.

Asperion got a reaction from Lord Liaden in Political Discussion Thread (With Rules)
Things like this are are why I believe that the Republicans have lost the vision that they got when they became a solo party under Lincoln. If they don't act fast, they will self-destruct and leave everyone with a power void and solo party nation. This is something that scares me more than a Trump dictatorship. I really hope that some other party comes forward that will be a better voice for the people than any current party has proven to be.

Trump says he wants to be King. I have decided to let him be one - a Parliament King. This will allow him to claim kingship all he desires, no power. In addition, every leader from this list he will be required to bow to: U.S., U.K, EU member states, AU member states, Asian Confederate states (that will be around 95% of the countries, 45% world population).

Asperion got a reaction from Cygnia in Political Discussion Thread (With Rules)
People are saying that it's horrible that Trump is being removed from the ballot in certain states. The voters should be able to get their say. Trump is the Republicans leading candidate. The press is currently focused on Trump and all other Republicans cannot get attention, even if they pay for it. I just found out there are 5 Republicans running, not counting Trump, how many can you name without looking them up? This combined with Trump's comments about being a dictator should scare everyone away from him. This alone should make it so that he can not get within any point of this solar system of the White House.

While far-fetched, this is a possible way for things to go -
The first 2/3 is important for groundwork, but the last segment is the important part.

Asperion got a reaction from tkdguy in Best Ways To Start A New Campaign
I like to start with Rule Zero: find players who want to play the game that you would like. If you ignore this rule, then everyone will be attempting to make fun that the game most likely will fall apart QUICKLY.
After that, the group can (and should) create more rules and guidelines during their session Zero.

Andrew Dezlmin was exploring the Louisiana countryside when he got lost. He attempted to make his way back when he got trapped in a bog. Going under, he was certain that he was lost, but a voice in his head said that he could escape if he did something else in exchange. Agreeing, he discovered that he not only was out of the bog but back in the city, transformed. Now, he attempts to make the most of his new abilities, but has a voice telling him what he should do all the time.

Asperion got a reaction from Gauntlet in What is the Best Way to Learn Things.
Actually, this is the method most often used by the most successful people in most industries and the way I prefer. Most researchers have discovered that it gets the best results with the least input. That's basically how apprenticeship operate, and they worked great for millennia.

Asperion got a reaction from DentArthurDent in Future Humanity
In the future, it will become harder for people to tell the difference between us using historical methods, such as Chinese, American, English, black, Hispanic, etc. This will be because people will be mixing more than they have ever before, regardless if they are in space, on some planet, asteroid, or any other place. Those historical differences will disappear. However, humans being the separatist creatures that they are will develop other ways to separate themselves according to new lines in the future. Here are some forms I have considered -
Spacer - These people live all to most of their lives off planet. Their entire existence is the ship, station, or anything else that is free-form, essentially manmade. If they ever touch a planet, asteroid, or other natural body, it will cause feelings of sickness (define as you will) until they return to space.
Planeter - These people live their entire life on the planet, almost never getting off. Despite the easy access to space traffic, they always have some excuse for not going. On the rare occasion they get off-planet, they will have vertigo, nausea, disorientation, among much more, even if artificial gravity exists.
In-Betweeners - These people are essentially a "mid-point " between the first two. They are equally at home on a planet as they are in space. They basically spend equal time in each environment, so neither one will can create a stronger or weaker influence upon them.
Those are the three primary methods that I have thought of recently. What other ways do you think of and how would they be described? Any comments would be welcome.
