  1. No planned Champions minis? Well, back to the HeroClix X-acto Massacre.
  2. Has no one seen the irony of asking a forum of GAMERS what is cool and sexy? I can ask my girlfriend about it. She's from Canada. You wouldn't know her.
  3. I've rebooted my campaign three times, first my 1992 campaign went to 2012, then a darker toned Cyberhero style 2024, and currently at 2053. As real life caught up with my campaign, I found most of my assumptions of the future were wrong, except that John Tesh would have a huge recording career. I had the first orbital habitat open in 2012 (not likely), corporate take over of the US gvt by 2024, and flying cars and nanomedicine by 2053. I also have a supreme mage who is an AI in a synthetic body and superheros so I don't worry about the accuracy or feasability of my world. My world departed reality the moment i decided to have superheros so no one is really surprized that there were no 9/11 attacks or any other current events from after 1993. I think you and your players will have a blast with your reboot. I still have a player from my 1992 group and he gets a kick out of old PCs and NPCs showing up in different roles. And don't be afraid to throw in some weird pop culture predictions. You may get lucky with a John Tesh Moment. Now you know who's fault it will be if Mandy Moore is really President in 2053.
  4. But all this arguing about Batman vrs Buffy and relative DEXes ignores the most important thing here: Evil vampire Willow is HOT!
  5. From last game: Vincent, the Next-to-Last Vampire Hunter: "I was raised to hunt vampires but there aren't any more vampires, so mainly I'm into dope now." THANK YOU! I'l be here all week. Tip your waitress.
  6. In one campaign I ran the heros had taken over for the deceased superteam that previously occupied the top ten floors of a Manhattan skyscraper. They had to remodel after the explosion that killed said supers and were well funded, so they went full-on MTV cribs. However, after a major hunted (Finn, the killer robot) took the elevator up to the base and blasted a hero in the kitchen, they remembered to add some security devices like locks on the doors. The killer robot in question was rebuilt and reprogramed (with a built in coffee maker.) He became the housekeeper, handyman, librarian, recepionist, and security chief. Sixty years later in continuity, he's the supreme mage on Earth.
  7. Why don't we use this thread for good, since Pteryx the Creator has blessed us with it?
  8. Mad Angus MacCrae- "Somebody's Gonna Get Their Heads Kicked In Tonight", The Rezillos
  9. Re: Re: Disad help needed! Thaks everyone. I'm going with Mr. Negative's suggestions in part. I like the ability to buy off pieces of the disad as plot moves forward. This disad will play a major part in the campaign and will unavoidably cause much grief to the PC, so I feel comfortable with the point totals. Also, I haven't played with this guy in five years and any willing to cut him slack to get him and his interesting PC onboard. Thanks again, Heros!
  10. My overall plot will be a certain NPC engineering the invasion of Washington DC by the forces of Hell. He or She plans to use his/her huge resources to play a decisive roll in turing back the demon hordes and then parlaying that victory into a successful run for the Presidency. The PC's have both hindered and helped this plan so far, but patientience is possibly the only virtue the npc possesses.
  11. I have a player working on a new character with a weird disadvantage. The PC has gaps in his memories that include his origin. He was Shanghied and awoke floating on jetsom in the South China Sea with a new cybernetic arm. He has boosted reflexes and healing. Think Wolverine with out the cutlery or attitude. The disad is this: whomever upgraded our hero also installed a subroutine in his brain that compels him to comit assassinations and other crimes in his sleep. The PC has no knowlege of his crimes and since he's bought down his sleep requirements with LS, it doesn't happen often. The mystery villian may also be monitoring the PC through his own senses... How the heck do we build that?
  12. Well, unfortunatly, no. The future Mrs Hooligan is not a gamer and has even banned my regular group from bringing dice to the wedding, even though it IS on a Sunday and Sunday is our reqular night. Eh, maybe her Maid of Honor will smugle in the dice for a few extra XP.
  13. ONE OF US! ONE OF US! ONE OF US!
  14. Can you invade next Sunday and feed the cat until I get back from my honeymoon? Good lookin' out, Invader Z.
  15. I think well equiped agents are the most dangerous because they are the least scary. I didn't realize how effective the Bivtec 3in1 combat weapon was until the PCs were all entangled or stunned. With enough agents holding phases, they kept up with my much more powerful PCs until the Next to Last Vampire Hunter broke free and cleaned house. It could have gone either way if I hadn't wanted the PCs to win this minor scrap and contine on. Good thing the Next to Last Vampire Hunter was there (and I ignored a few agent's recoveries.) But what my players are scared of? Hamsters. Giant undead cyber-hamsters on BMW R75/3s with sidecars.
  16. So, you've had some good advice, some time to think it through... What we all want to know is: Are ya gonna go for it? If you need any more encouragment, I'm sure everyone who replied to this thread would post a villian for you. Think about it, all of our best baddies for free, cutting your work in half. Just one more incentive to become one of us. ONE OF US! ONE OF US! ONE OF US!
  17. I have a house rule even my experienced Hero gamers use: If you haven't used the power/gadget in game yet, you can redesign it. I also did rewrites for my 2 hero newbies after I saw points gone to waste. Don't be afraid to ask for help here. The reason this thread has so many responses is we Hero geeks LOVE new converts! A new Hero GM means four or five new players. And you never know when they might end up sitting at your table.
  18. Welcome abourd Willis! I've been playing on and off since 1983 and I think you'll find the reason there are so many of us elderly gamers on this board is that NOTHING CAN TOUCH HERO! It's the straight up, hands down ass kickingest game around. The "Eeek, math!" reaction many have can be soothed by buying the UNTIL SuperPower Database book. It has all you need for "plug in and play" superhero designs. Pick up Champions as well. Combat takes a little time to get used to, but you'll get the hang of it. Back in 83, we popped open the box and just ran combats with the characters in the book until we got it. Spend an afternoon with a few friends using premade heros with no plot. By the time you run out of Doritos and Mountain Dew, you'll be ready to run a real campaign. Good luck and don't forget to add your new campaign's quotes to the "Quote of the week" thread!
  19. Um, no. I really don't want 1 FOOT scale hexes. My apartment is too small. That was my Spinal Tap moment for the week.
  20. Are these maps "slap down on the table and play" scale or nice maps for reference? How does CB rate for a GM who doesn't use CU or prepared adventures? Are there more "Battlegrounds" than "Champions"? I'd love a bunch 1' scale hexmaps of the places described...
  21. Sounds like they might be behind the frozen Canadian hockey star... http://www.herogames.com/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=6255
  22. I recently decided a good cell phone was an Everyman thing since my campaign is set in 2053. My rule is if your character has an average income, you get the phone for 0 points.
  23. My baddest dude is Blitzkrieg, a power armored mastermind with scores of agents. The PCs were shocked when they beat him into a coma, not realizing they were fighting a flunky in a lookalike suit. They don't know his real identity is someone close to the team who has been steering their actions to his ends. I plan for Blitzkrieg to be a Lex Luthor type after he's found out. I may even swipe the supervillian in the White House plot from DC.
  24. I wanna see Hero stats for Christina Ricca in a bathing suit. And a low carb beer that tastes like Newcastle. Eh. worth a shot.
  25. I'm curious about your "guy to beat" in your campaign. Who's the guy that makes your players groan when the miniature come out of the box? is he/she a CU baddie or a homegrown?
