  1. maybe I'm headed for Cthulhu paranoia... but I see stuff like this in the news all the time, and it makes me wonder... another real life game plot element! Thai man dies while laughing in sleep - - - - - - - - - - - - Associated Press Aug. 21, 2003 BANGKOK, Thailand -- An ice-cream truck driver in Thailand died while laughing in his sleep, a newspaper reported Thursday. Damnoen Saen-um, 52, laughed for about two minutes on Wednesday and then stopped breathing, The Nation said, quoting officials. The newspaper said Damnoen's wife tried to wake him up but he kept laughing. An autopsy suggested that he might have had a heart attack, The Nation quoted a doctor as saying. "I have never seen a case like this. But it is possible that a person could have heart seizure while laughing or crying too hard in their sleep,'' said Dr. Somchai Chakrabhand, deputy director-general of the Mental Health Department, according to The Nation. The incident occurred in Phrae province, 300 miles north of Bangkok.
  2. I'm not sure what kind of heroes are required for this investigation (thus the "Other Genres" listing) but if you need a plot seed, check out this article about the real life New Jersey Lagoon Blob: http://www.sfgate.com/cgi-bin/article.cgi?file=/gate/archive/2003/08/08/MNoddblob.DTL know of any others?
  3. Thank goodness that isn't "real" real-life! Otherwise I live WAY too close to a cemetary! (still chuckling to myself...)
  4. An unconscious hero, defeated by villians, could wake up to find themselves tied to a power pole, on display, with their secret identity revealed!! That could lead to some great role playing as the local media has a field day! Creative things like that... well... make a GM evil.
  5. good god! what a great idea! even if you didn't build the whole thing, I think small red leggos would make a great props for showing all those brick walls that get smashed from knockback! (drop a handful on the map here... drop a handful on the map there... oh, was that a firehydrant that got knocked over? drop some blue ones there! radiation spill? here come the green legos!) next time I visit my parent's, I have to see if they still have my leggos in the attic!
  6. In the midst of a D&D classic, The Giant Series, our party got to the Fire Giant dungeons of King Snur and rescued a Titan. (20th Level Priest, in D&D terms.) Our DM confided in me that he was agonizing over what to do. The module said the Titan would stay and fight, but the DM thought it was flatly absurd that we should go from a party of 8-9th level players to all of a sudden having a 20th Level Cleric on our side! I said, "well, you could take him away from us... OR... you could let us have him for a bit... but MAKE us NEED him!" I don't think any of the other players would have appreciated seeing the Evil DM flames spark up in his eyes, but being an Evil DM myself, I think it can be fun when the heat is turned up. That doesn't just go for hacking and slashing either. And it doesn't mean that the new-found tool/clue will allow the players step over everything you had worked so hard to plan. In Evil DM speak, "Make them need it" should also imply "Make them use it wisely"! MWWWAAA-HA-Ha-haaaaaaaaaaa!
  7. The Tick (cartoon) "I say STOP your evil ways, naughty spawn!"
  8. that just reminded me of one of our funny fowl quotes... in an attempt to get at the bottom of what had a bird character so agitated... "what's your beef, chicken?"
