  1. Re: New Magnetic Power So we're back to what I said.. build the powers to do what you want them to do, and declare the special effect to be magnetic field manipulation.. Don't get too bent out of shape trying to figure out all the science. you've got the 'excuse' for why you can do xzy via how magnetics can be used to manipulate the brain. Although as some said you might want to look at 'class of mind' as appropriate.. also take into account limitations such as if something is shielded vs magnetics.. Also since you are trying to induce currents. anything conductive around the head could act like a faraday cage and interfere with what you are trying to do. So in your case why yes, that tin-foil hat might indeed shield Captian Paranoid from your mind control..
  2. Re: Powerframe&Maximum Points The game I'm in limits attack powers to 60 AP to start, (but defines some advantages as not counting towards this limit). Frameworks are not limited other than normal GM review to make sure they have good concept, make sense, and are not just purely munching things to save points. Powers in frameworks are of course subject to the normal limits.. One of my characters is a mage and I've got most of my spells in a MP that's a little over 180 points.. So basically (since most of them are 'ultra' slots) I can run a max of three spells at once (of course that's limited by available actions so it's not like i fire them all off at the same time, more like put up a force wall one round, then maintain that and and start some kind of continuing illusion, then next round a fireball.. (end usage gets rather um agressive in that situation) I think a lot is up to the char, and the concept, for a 'spellcraft' MP being able to do several things at once can make sense, and to do that you need a pretty big MP. OTOH for a MP representing something like a gun with multiple ammo types (think judge dread) it would make sense if the MP was sized so that only a single power could be used at once.
  3. Re: Dropping defences Seems to me that both the FAQ and the description that Killer Shrike quoted for us are fairly clear on this. That being said, we've had characters in our campaign who took some disadvantages/limitations to their power defense such that it always applied to ANY kind of adjustment power. Not my char so I'm not 100% sure of the exact limitation or point value, but it might have been 'always on' or 'no conscious control'. This was part of their character concept. The defense was provided by their power armor and it was deemed that it resisted ANY attempt to modify the character's body and was not sophisticated enough to tell if something was helping or hurting.
  4. Re: New Magnetic Power I think like anything else you reason from the end effect. I can think of several possible powers deriving from this. I mean you are directly stimulating the brain via inducing electrical currents with a magnetic field, so once you apply comic-book level of control and advancement to this tech nearly anything is possible. Just off the top of my head there would be: flash mental attack or nnd (defense: magnetic shielding) mental entangle (seisure) supress speed/dex mind control since most effects you could base off of TMS are directly attacking/affecting the brain for the most part it makes sense to use mental based powers. Then again unless you were to spend some points on a small linked power that did +ecv with multipower powers, I'm not sure you would want to have them attack based ECV. (after all it is not mind to mind combat). if you do go for based on ECV then I would probably add limitations for affected by range but that's up to you.
  5. Re: The Ultimate Mystic I'll second the question as to when this book will make it to PDF format.. Rather than lug around a ton of dead-tree editions I've gone nearly entirely electronic. I bring my tablet PC with me to gaming sessions and it serves as my portable library (and hero creator platform as well). In addition to saving me the weight of several feet worth of books, it's faster to search and generally cheaper as well, meaing I can afford to pick up more books.. SO I have all the utimate series except one... wanna guess which one I don't have? the only one you've not migrated for some strange reason I can't fathom. So hero dudes, WHY haven't you made this one avaiable as an e-book and WHEN are you going to change that so I can buy a copy...
