  1. It happens both ways in my group. For the most part my players will spend the XPs as they get them (adding a DC here, improving a Skill there, and I also require them to explain how it came about), but there have been a few times when somebody will have their eye on a new Power and save them up for a Big Bang. Just recently one of my players spent XPs she'd been saving for about a year to buy off Limitations so that her powers were permanent instead of requiring an injection every time she wanted to use them (I guess she got tired of her GM exploiting the OIHID and Charges). I worked the change into the scenario (she accidentally ingested three vials of her 'special serum' after they'd been heated to boiling in a fight with her arch-villain), which makes it much more memorable. That's the closest I come to allowing a full redesign: if you want to save enough XPs for a "radiation accident", then we'll do it. Otherwise, those points are locked in unless a do-over is necessary, like when moving from one edition to another. I really like that idea of drawing up two versions of the character, Hyper-Man.
  2. If he sees himself as a god then maybe he sees his doom-bringing as a blessing. So perhaps something like The Deliverer, The Bringer, or The Liberator. Something ironically noble.
  3. This has been my experience as well. We've played since 2nd Ed., and the only new release I've not embraced was 6th. I bought it (of course!) but we're still playing 5th and loving it.
  4. My group is 4 players who each have 2 characters. So far it works very well, but I don't think I'd want to run more than that. If we were to add any more players I'd likely limit everyone to one PC each.
  5. I do this as well, something additionally helpful or disadvantageous happens, depending on the situation and the dramatic/comedic value.
  6. Great replies, thanks everybody for weighing in. I think we're going to rework the character with a couple of extra DCs at night. That looks like it will work much better for everybody.
  7. I think I would rule that remaining stable would be a DEX Roll for everyone, and probably allow the character with Acrobatics to improve his DEX Roll with a successful Acrobatics roll.
  8. I'd love for the community to weigh in on an argument I just had with a player. The character in question is a person possessed by a witch. The player has selected the Limitation, "Half Active Points During the Day" on most of the powers. He claims that refusing to play the character during daytime scenarios is a valid application of that Limitation, that the character is limited by only playing at night. I call BS by pointing to the rulebook which says that a Limitation that the character/player can choose to avoid isn't limiting, and thus worth no points. I say his interpretation effectively places the limitation on the player, not the character. I'm curious as to the consensus of the fine folks on this forum. Thank you, -Tony
  9. In last week's session, a veteran hero was discussing the job with a potential new teammate. "We only work about 14 seconds a week. But those fourteen seconds are punctuated by extreme terror. Otherwise, not a bad job."
