I could share what I have for my campaigns, which has some mock-ups of some popular sci-fi weapons (types, not specifics, generally.)

It has a few errors and some atypical stuff, so "your results may vary."

Funk Thompson reacted to unclevlad in Adding Damage Classes with Advantages
It's because these are damage adders.

If you were building this as a power, it'd be listed as +2d6...then apply the armor piercing, for example.  So it'd cost 15 active, not 10.

The martial maneuvers are adders that aren't being applied in the usual sequence...(base cost + adders) * Advantages, divided by Limitations.  The adders are factored in before multiplying by the advantages.  Since they're being applied after here...the level of this adder has to account for the existing advantages it will inherit.

Consider a character with a 15 STR and an HKA.  On a plain HKA, the STR adds 1d6.  Give the HKA armor piercing.  It can't *still* get a full +1d6.

Yeah, depends on the exact mechanics of the wand.

Both are 1/2 phase action unless otherwise limited.  Gunslinger *is* more likely to have the quickdraw skill, though

Also:  Thread title is wheellock.  Firing one of those might not have been as simple as a 1/2 phase action.  Reloading and readying one certainly isn't

I'd honestly just go with boostable charges; boost for the full-power blast, use just the one base charge for standard power.

Be VERY careful putting uncontrolled on stuff in a power pool.  The VPP can "only have X points active at any time" and uncontrolled should not be allowed here.  Else they can, really, just make a bunch of stuff then switch and make a bunch more, etc.  If they have given out 25 real points of grenades, those 25 real points should not be available until the grenades are used, or are no longer available to anyone else - not just "become duds."

I'm not sure there are specific rules for this; each form follows the campaign norms.  Any equipment used by any form would need the appropriate proficiency skill bought for that form if applicable, etc.

I had some multiform critters in my fantasy campaigns, but none that used equipment IIRC.  So I can't say I've tested this in play.

It isn't mentioned under the rules for Martial Maneuvers at all, and the rules for Adding Damage on 6E2 p.99 are a bit...  unclear.

The "standard rule" is that added DC's are modified by any modifiers on the attack.

This might be a good one for "Ask Mr. Long" or see if it has been previously addressed?

By RAW, yrs, anything stacks with anything so far as adding damage or DEF - unless otherwise noted by limitations.

The solution is campaign limits on DEF and Damage Classes.

Funk Thompson reacted to Sveta in How to build...
Oh bother. That's a lot more complicated. Alright...

You're still looking at the same basic core. Some amount of blast, Double Knockback, and Indirect. In this situation, you're still at the +1/2 to change the path each time. And believe it or not, I believe that is where I'd call it quits for it. Then it's simply building what happens when it hits someone, what happens to them.
    So first off...
Break: 5d6 blast (30), Double Knockback (+1/2), Indirect (Any Path +1/2) Active: 60 Activation Roll (Billiards -1/2), Major Side Effect (-1/2) Real: 30

Now, you have what happens when someone is hit by another person because of break. Instead of making Break horribly complicated, let's make this a linked thing. The big issue here is that, if I am to hazard a guess, you want the harm and movement to be modified off of the damage that the knockback would do. This makes it all sorts of wonky, but let's see what we can do.

First off, you are wanting to redirect the knockback of the other person I presume. So another Indirect +1/2 to whatever is designed. Or heck. If your GM is nice, try and buy a raw advantage for Knockback XX meters with Indirect +1/2, Only when caused by Break -1/4. If that works for you, then you're good. If you want to add force to the sequential hits, then you need an actual Linked Power. Something simple like below.

Bouncing: 2d6 Blast (10), Double Knockback (+1/2), Indirect (Different Source Point and Any Path +1) Active: 25 Activation roll (Billiards -1/2) Real: 17

Seems good, yeah? No. This would take your attack to use, and is considerably worse. So make it Linked you say! Works, yeah? No. Linked attacks have to work against the same target. So instead... We have to make this a Trigger Power.

So let's define this Trigger. When someone is knocked back into someone else via Break or Bouncing. +1/4 there. Then you need it to activate instantly when this goes. Action that takes no time +1/4. Then it's a question of how many times you want it to rebound per hit. If only once? Then this works. Will take a half phase to "reload" the bounce, but it works. If you want it to be able to hit more than once on a single Break? It needs to automatically rearm. Another +1/2.

So that boost Bouncing up to...

Bouncing: 2d6 Blast (10), Double Knockback (+1/2), Indirect (Different Source Point and Any Path +1) Trigger Power (Complicated +1) Active: 35 Activation roll (Billiards -1/2) Real: 23

Big note here! This still uses Endurance to activate! If you want to cut that down, you'd need...

Bouncing: 2d6 Blast (10), Double Knockback (+1/2), Indirect (Different Source Point and Any Path +1) Trigger Power (Complicated +1) No END (+1/2) Active: 40 Activation roll (Billiards -1/2) Real: 27

    Summary:
If you want to be able to modify the knockback of the person that Break hits to redirect them, try and just go for a raw Advantage on Knockback for Break and being knocked back by the knockback for Break. If you want to do more harm than just the Knockback, and keep the chain going, you need to add in a complicated Bouncing Power with Triggers.

See, for me, knowing a genetic condition was indicated by eye color / pattern would require a KS skill, but perhaps "Fully Discriminatory" would allow you to more easily notice such in relation to your KS.

Sense Modifiers affect how much information that sense gives you; you still need appropriate knowledge or skills to do anything with some of that gleaned information.

Funk Thompson reacted to RDU Neil in Sectional Body Armor: Reality vs. Game Play
tl;dr version : I applied most of the rules we've talked about here, and they really worked, in an extensive gun fight scenario in last night's game.

For what it is worth, I ran a five and half hour (in game play) ranging gun fight in my game last night (PCs invading the corporate HQ of an elite Private Security/mercenary force), so we had the chance to really put the criteria I listed above, as well as in the thread about guns, damage, rate of fire, etc.  It was an amazingly cinematic gunfight that ranged from the basement to the seventh floor of a high rise, with more bullets, magazines and grenades spent than in most of the previous games put together. I found the combination of criteria worked pretty well.

Here are guidelines I wrote up for my campaign, and then we played the game to test them.

Hit Locations: As per RAW, the Hit Location chart will be utilized in combat. Exception Note: Called shots to a specific location will still roll if there is more than one number result. Ex.: If a called shot to the head hits after modifiers, then a die roll will determine if 3 (face), 4 (head), 5 (throat) was the actual location.
Range Modifiers: SW will utilize the Range Modifiers from 3rd Edition Danger International.
-0 for Point Black to 6 meters
    -1 for 6+ to 12 meters
    -2 for 12+ to 18 meters, etc.
Multiple Attacks: There are several changes to this maneuver from the RAW.
Multiple Attacks suffer a -1 OCV penalty for each attack after the first.
Range is halved, so penalties accrue faster (e.g. -0 up to 3 meters, -1 up to 6 meters, etc.)
Not every attack can utilize multiple attacks. Weapon type affects whether Multiple Attack can be used, and how many attacks can be attempted in a single action.
Barehanded/hand-to-hand weapons requires Rapid Attack, limited to 2 attacks, only weapons size "small" are allowed
Bows, crossbows, thrown weapons cannot utilize Multiple Attacks w/o GM permission
Early firearms cannot utilize Multiple Attacks
Revolvers can only go up to 3 shot MAs
Semi-automatic pistols can go up to 5 shot MAs
Pump action shotguns cannot utilize MAs, semi-automatic shotguns may do up to 2 shot MAs
Select Fire automatic weapons can fire up to 2 bursts (3 or 5 rounds), but at -2 for both bursts.

As for the armor discussion, I basically went with...

Did not go with extra activation for plates... just didn't need another roll.

Did not involve increased stun multipliers for any weapons except the Benneli M4 one PC used. Just using Hit Location stun multipliers as is worked just fine.

With Light AP on rifle rounds automatically, I feel it very much makes long guns way better than pistol rounds, but doesn't escalate the damage into "one shotting" people with a 5.56 all the time. It was really important in the game last night, as the final aspects of the fight had both sides pretty heavily armored up and blazing away with SIG MCX variants using .300 AAC (2d6 +1 damage, light AP as noted above).

I adopted the rule of Hard armor, if no body gets through, no stun applied at all. This worked REALLY well, as it felt right when it happened, and sped up the game.

The Hard armor rule for no stun and vs. light AP really brought home how much more effective the armor is with the plates than hitting in just a soft armor spot, again without ramping up certain armor to really high levels.

The explosive damage applied as above is REALLY deadly, as two fully armored bad guys were caught point blank in a stairwell with a fragmentation grenade... (roll three 2.5d6K attacks vs. three different hit locations, and each only affected by 1/2 of any armor in those locations). It felt really correct, with the idea that damage drops off quickly with distance and any barriers. (third guy was slightly farther back and blocked by two buddies when grenade went off, so dropped the damage to 2d6 and only two locations... he was effed up but alive, until they shot him on their way up the stairs.)

Blowthrough came into play as a PC was in a close quarters shootout between two glass and paneling offices with a support column in between, and both guys ended up blazing away right through the thin walls at each other, which only stop a couple of rounds out of twenty or so that went back and forth in that burst series, after they'd been shooting at each other for a while. Felt very right.

Had great moments of multiple different effects from rounds hitting armor, where the bullets were simply stopped, others where they did partial penetration or just brusing damage, other time where soft armor was penetrated for really nasty wounds, though not lethal because they stopped some of it, hard armor totally sucking up some rounds, etc. One great scene had a PC get the drop on one guy with a three round burst. Two shots hit, head and chest, helmet and plate... but he rolled really well, doing just 1 Body over the defenses on each hit, so Stun did translate through, and this did lay the guy out, Con stunned and unconscious (briefly), and it felt right... not a common occurrence, but right in this instance with two high rolls dead center to noggin and chest.

What I do realize is that full body armor is very effective, especially against lighter rounds. The few pistols shots that weren't targeting heads/bare faces, got sucked up like nothing if it hit the armor. No SMGs were used, but I feel the lethality would have been much less if the Light AP was not in play. (I rule SMGs don't achieve the velocity of assault rifles/long guns, so don't achieve Light AP), so there would have been less armor penetration in those cases.

Anyway... really feel like these rules work well for a semi-realistic, cinematic, heroic level gun fights.  If that is your thing.... try 'em out.

First off, Hermit, thank you for leaping to our defense.

National Security is pure administrative pretext. Trump wants tariffs for whatever reason has lodged in his, for want of a better term, "brain." There's a lot of opposition to them in the legislature, so classifying this as a national security measure allows him to apply them as an executive action.

This is Trump country. (He got something like 75% of the vote.) Nevertheless, many townsfolk are shocked and angry. The local minister is preaching sermons about loving all people regardless of native language or place of birth.

Sorry that I implied that you were a free speech absolutist. I was just trying to make the point that there are limits, and we, as a society get to choose where those limits are.

I used to believe in the whole "sunlight is the best disinfectant" (not quoting anyone here, that I know of) idea. But seeing the surge is white nationalism and other forms of open bigotry has gone a long way to convincing me it's just not true. People see these ideas out there, hear the president of the *%^&$ United States talking about there being "good people on both sides" when the Nazis marched in Charlottesville, see the New York Times running story after story about dapper Nazis, and it starts to permeate the air. Soak in. Fester.

Something has to give, or we really could go the way of Nazi Germany.

I don't really fear for myself.  Since I've come out, being trans really isn't a struggle for me. It's awesome. I get to be myself after fifty-two years of hiding. There is no force on this planet that will send me back into hiding, and if I end up suffering because of that, nothing can take away the fact that I'll do it as myself. But  I fear for all my LGBTQ siblings. And I'm sad for the ones who are afraid to be themselves because of the environment of hate that is blooming, fanned by the current administration.  I fear for every visible minority, because if the far right continues to gain power in this country, none of them are safe.

So, it's not that I'm going to try to get Nazis outlawed, but I just don't see them as worth spending the money to defend. I am a donor to the ACLU. I think they do a lot of great work. But the idea of my money going to defend people who not only would gladly see me dead, but are actually striving to make that happen, makes me almost physically ill.

Funk Thompson reacted to Sveta in Transform vs Shape Shift: How to Change Oneself
Alright. From what I am seeing both here, in the books, and from general conversation, it seems that while Transform is by RAW possible, just not explicitly denounced or stated, it is not the intended purpose and typically not accepted. YMMV indeed there. Shapeshift seems to be the easier way to go for this, with the typical response being to figure out exactly what is wanted and attain only that. Or to go with the Simplified version of Shapeshift (6e APG1 pg115), as it covers a physical change, but not a change in powers or characteristics.

The fact that Complicated Shape Change does not modify those either seems beside the point.

The rest is just an aside musing on Transform.
I can see the issue rising why Transform likely would not be usable on the self. The ability to grant oneself any number of bonus's depending on the level of Transform, nearly at will is much better covered under Variable Power Pool. Not to mention it provides a disturbing amount of flexibility to a character with minimal cost. For that viability, twould usually imagine would take a tight look from a GM and pre-defined options that are set forth when the character is built.

On musing over it, I realized a simple exploit to avoid that grey area by punching another grey area exists. Creating a Duplicate that differs from the player, with Transform. And while the ability to make what functions as a Hair Dresser on Steroids amusing me to no end, it also opens the door to make an Igor of sorts that amps the Player beyond belief, so that's a rabbit hole of "I'd rather not."

Strangely, most of the powers I would imagine would be more easily attained via "Transforming" make more sense to me as a Multipower full of Fixed slots. Growing Wings, or Digging Claws, or Hammer Arms, or A flexible body (Stretching), or Fins for swimming and Gills. That sort. Granted, you can't grant that power to others, but so it goes.
