Brick's Achievements

  1. In the movie "Ghost Rider: Spirit Of Vengeance", Ghost Rider had the power to transform every vehicle that he occupied into a flaming version with much more destructive power than the original. How do I build this in HERO terms? A simple transform is not enough, and a simple Vehicle that I buy with points stays the same.
  2. Here's my idea for a character: He has the power to identify the superpowers of any given individual, be it supermage, mutant or killer-robot (still looking for a cool pseudo-scientific explanation, though...). He can also determine the relevant power level of the subject. I am also thinking whether he could determine the Susceptibilities and Vulnerabilities, too... In concrete detail: How would you build this?
  3. Leaping distance and height is figured out by using a character's strenght. Howerver, if a character buys STR with the Limitation: No Figured Characteristics, does this also mean that he doesn't gain additional Leaping?
  4. Hello, does anybody have a system for converting characters from M&M to the HERO System? Yes, there is a thread concerning this, but the relevant link is invalid. So, could somebody help me out? Thanks in advance!
  5. I am a lazy GM, and I was wondering if anybody has had some cool ideas for the characters from the Algernon Files setting? Thank you!
  6. "Heroes Unlimited" from Palladium has a superpower called "Natural Combat Ability" that I would like to convert into HERO terms. According to the text, it goes like this: A unique ability that enables the character to subconciously adapt and adjust his fighting style and capabilities to the situation. He can face and use virtually any style imaginable (type of martial arts, boxing, wrestling etc.) and within 15 seconds, adapt to fight on roughly the same level, using the same technique and moves. The superbeing can fight in the same style as his opponent, enabling him to counter and and strike effectively. Thus, if an opponent has Expert:Hand To Hand, the character with the Natural Combat Ability fights on roughly the same level. Likewise, if he encounters a Ninja or alien with an otherworldly style of martial arts, within one melee round, the character will be fighting with a comparable style (but not level of experience). This means he never needs to take any course in hand to hand combat or even self defense, he will simply know how to do these things whenever necessary (when an opponent is a whimp or unskille fighter, the superbeing with this ability roughly fights in a style equivalent to Hand To Hand: Expert. Additionally, the Natural Fighter instinctively and instantly knows how to use most types of weapons, from swords to guns, to energy weapons! He just picks them up and uses them without any need for instruction or training. Okay, the last lines sound like simply buying a LOT of Weapon Familiarities, but the first lines? Maybe some sort of Limited Power Pool, only to buy skills? What limitations? The time to adjust to the fighting style should be a lot shorter, in my opinion. 15 seconds - one complete turn and then some... Suggestions, anyone? Thanks in advance.
  7. I always thought that dogs and wolves should have Discriminatory Smell. However, after skipping through the Bestiary, I found out that they were not built with that sense. Isn't it necessary for them to have that Sense so they can follow AND IDENITIFY their prey by scent? Any comments?
  8. Re: Scenarios For Power Outage? Wow, what a feedback. Now, to be more precise - let the blackout happen in Millenium City. In my opinion, this would hit the City Of The Future even harder than other areas because it is so much more dependent on technology and thus on electricity. Any comments? I found an excellent adventure idea which deals with a blackout: http://www.rpgarchive.com/index.php?page=adv1&advid=179 Sounds to me like a good starting adventure to unite the heroes as a team. To get a feel for their characters, the first problems for the players to solve are the blackout-related incidents. Then, while the Champions, the MC8 and other heroes are distracted, the PCs are the only ones to stop the Ultimates. They arrive more or less at the same time and, ideally, defeat the villains together.
  9. Campaign City is suddenly in the dark. For whatever reasons, there is a city-wide blackout. My question is: How would you handle this scenario? Where could a hero be needed besides fighting looters and freeing citizens out of stuck elevators? When would the lootings start? How would this affect the underground network and other traffic systems? What other factors should be considered? I am asking because I have never been the victim of a blackout, and I want to be "realistic" (as far as one can be in a superhero setting, of course). Thanks in advance.
  10. In the Millenium City sourcebook on p. 56, an aquatic hero named Hydro is mentioned. However, there is no write-up for him in the book. Does anybody know if and where this character has been/will be published? Steve, any comments?
  11. Re: !SPOILER! Vibora Bay Ooops. Sorry...
  12. Re: !SPOILER! Vibora Bay Nice ideas, Lord Liaden. As always, I'm inclined to say.:-) Anyway, you've been repped.
  13. Re: !SPOILER! Vibora Bay
  14. I was wondering if anybody has already fleshed out the final days of the great war between Heaven and Hell that Therakiel has been preparing for. How will the war be fought? What exact role will Robert Caliburn have in it? How can the PCs also be major players without being overshadowed by Caliburn? And - how will the outcome affect the City Of Shadows? Yes, these are questions for the individual GM to decide, but I am a lazy person...;-) And by the way, some of you guys have AWESOME ideas, so why not taking them... if I don't have any of my own until now? Well, okay, here are some general thoughts: I think that the war would be fought more or less in secret, only on a greater scale - in the shadows, fitting to Vibora Bay's nickname. I imagine a lot of newcomers who appear to be human, but are representatives of Heaven and Hell. Think "Highlander" meets "Underworld", "End Od Days" and "God's Army". By night, the dark alleys of Vibora Bay become battlefields for flame-sword-wielding angels and brutish, fire-breathing demons. And of course, the usual suspects are more active than ever - Crowns of Krim, Devil's Advocates etc. on one side, and Dr. Ka and the gang on the other, all called into action by their patrons/mentors/allies. Caliburn has experienced several personal tragedies - a girl he loved has been killed, maybe he lost an eye or an arm in battle. He's bitter and close to the edge so he can be seduced easily to go over to the "dark side". The PCs are in the thick of it, fighting alongside Caliburn. He is almost turned but convinced by the PCs to stick with the side of the "light". He kills several major players of Hell, thus ensuring victory for Heaven. After that, he confronts Therakiel together with the PCs. The half-angel's plans are revealed. He attacks Caliburn with a ritual dagger to get the "chosen warrior's" blood which would, according to his plans, ascend him into a higher state, enabling him to challenge the Almighty himself. However, this is when bright light and a mighty voice fill the cave. "Therakiel, you have had your chance. For thousands of years, you had the chance to reconcile with me. To beg for forgiveness. I would have given it to you, gladly. But this final act has damned you forever. I am sorry." The half-angel is swallowed by a hellish abyss, screaming. It was never about the war between Heaven and Hell. It was never about Caliburn. Caliburn was only a tool, a mighty warrior that would decide this battle in Vibora Bay. It was all about Therakiel - if he would finally see the light. Caliburn leaves the City Of Shadows. He is tired and goes his own ways. But the war between Good and Evil will always be fought. It can never be over, for there must always be balance. And so, the City of Shadows will remain a focal point for both sides. And it will still need its protectors... the PCs. End Credits. Any comments?

    New Plot Seeds

Re: New Plot Seeds Verrrry cool. Some more ideas from me... A series of bomb attacks on churches located in Campaign City prompts the Bishop (or maybe the new pope?) to come to town in order to mourn with the believers and to hold an inspiring speech. This is just what DEMON had in mind. A special task force has done the bombings and is waiting for the high-ranking church official to arrive. When he is holding his speech, he will be assassinated while delivering the speech in front of hundreds of people, and the shocking live news pictures will shatter the faith of Christians all over the world. Archimago is back! Although his body was burnt and his soul exorcised, one of the most feared mages in history has returned - sort of. Before his death, Archimago created a very sophisticated construct infused with his essence which is, in effect, Archimago reborn and continues to fulfill the pacts with his many evil masters. Some more plots from the Mystical World? Tezcatlipoca preferred, but not necessary.
