  1. February 5th 1945: Allied troops enter Manilla.
  2. Winning the Rumble after entering as a super late entrant never really made sense to me from a story telling standpoint. "shrugs"
  3. Kaiju films are versatile enough for all tastes.
  4. They will...because THIS time will be different....if they vote for Trump. Sigh...I can't believe we're doing this again.
  5. All I know is all of this is scary in the extreme and we seem to be just letting it happen...
  6. It's not just Trump that needs to be beat now. It's the entire hysterical right wing segment of the population.
  7. Better half and I both ended up with covid over new year's. The first day we were bed ridden, but it got less severe the next few days. Mostly like a bad cold now. We're vaxxed to high heaven for the record.
  8. There's been peaks and valleys in every "phase" of the MCU. I don't think they handled Thanos well at all for example. On the other hand, I enjoyed Wandavision quite a bit. I just kind of go with the flow when it comes to these movies. I will say the MCU...on average....is still far better than what DC is putting out.
  9. Just got back from Godzilla Minus One....my spoiler free review from FB.... Movie Review: Godzilla Minus One (2023); The latest Godzilla movie in the franchise is a period piece. Taking place on the tail end of WWII, this follows the lives of regular people as they try to rebuild their lives after the war only for Godzilla to appear to crush their hopes. At two hours and 5 minutes, this is one of the longest Godzilla movies in the series. Much of that run time is devoted to the human drama. Luckily, the main cast is engaging enough so you can keep watching while waiting for the big G to appear. I have to give out a special kudos to the incredible FX work. FAR better than 2016's Shin Godzilla; this Godzilla has some life and personality in him. Better half said that this was the best Godzilla film they've ever seen. I'd try to catch this in theaters....especially in IMAX...so you can take advantage of the amazing visuals. If Toho can maintain this type of quality, I look forward to what comes next. Nuff said.
  10. Oh...I wasn't suggesting anyone is defending her. I'm just venting as it seems like there are no good candidates anymore....sigh.
  11. She's anti human rights and a climate change denier. I'd like her to climb back under her rock and let the adults actually take care of things.
  12. Watchmen Marvel comics...specifically X-men/Avengers Egyptian mythology Dungeons and Dragons Gatchaman
  13. Must have been pretty blatant for them to demand some kind of accountability.
  14. This is a remake of It Conquered the World. Incredibly, it's a worse movie than the original.
  15. This was from my FB review of Marvels.... Movie review: The Marvels (2023). This sequel to the 2019 original links itself to other Phase 4 projects...namely the Wandavision and Ms. Marvel tv series. The plot involves the Kree trying to revive their homeworld while also taking revenge on Carol Danvers. This film works best when it focuses on the interaction between the three leads. The three actresses play off of each other fairly well and they provide most of the movie's best moments. The villain unfortunately isn't all that memorable and certain elements of the story delve into the silly. Still, this is reasonably solid. That end credit sequence though. NIIIIICE!!!!
  16. I honestly thought the MCU did a pretty piss poor job with Thanos overall. Introduced in 2012, they had 6 years to build him up as the big bad...and all they do is a brief throwaway scene in GOTG. The thrown together backstory and motivation is so poorly thought out that it makes Thanos come off as a complete idiot for not seeing the obvious flaws in his "50% plan". He's an impressive foe in Endgame, but as a character still a bit lacking. I know he was never going to be as good as in the comics, but it was still disappointing. I mean...even the cameo version from GOTG felt more like Thanos than what ended up being the final version in Infinity War.
  17. I'm wondering if the end of Loki season two was done in an effort to cover all their bases in case they decide to veer away from Kang as their big bad.
  18. My main problem with Love and Thunder is that they revealed the main plot point with Jane WAY too early. It would have been far more dramatically effective to reveal that sometime after Thor and her meet again. That and the silliness carried over from Ragnarok. Bale feels like he should be in a different movie. This just doesn't deliver on any level. It's a shame.
  19. It shouldn't be an either or situation. And I'm not at all convinced Trump is going to get anything more meaningful for all this dealing. I guess we'll see, but so far I'm just feeling our two tier system at work again and it's both tiresome and frustrating.
  20. The punishment was insultingly light. No time behind bars and fines so small she could pay them with her "fun money".
  21. Rudy has always been....questionable. Like Reagan, he had the benefit of good PR to cover up his many deficiencies.
  22. I have no words really. Absolutely disgusting. America creates this. Sigh....
