GhostDancer reacted to Jason S.Walters for an article, Door Discoveries PDF by Michael Surbrook
There is something symbolic about doors. Open, they often represent a welcoming attitude or nature, an idea best expressed with the phase: “open door policy.” Closed, doors present a barrier—to sight, to sound, to entry, to communication. An open door shows you are willing to talk to others, while a closed door shows you have shut yourself off from the world.

Door Discoveries is designed to give Game Masters a reference for designing and creating doors, gates, locks, and other barriers. Unlike many of the other Discoveries products, this isn’t a collection of random encounters, but a tool, to be used to develop new — and expand on existing — encounters.

GhostDancer reacted to Jason S.Walters for an article, New Product: Champions Now PDF
Forty years ago, Champions: the Super Roleplaying Game was inspired by off-the-leash newsstand comics full of weird and headstrong creators. No one knew where a story was going, and what “heroic” meant changed constantly. That’s why it was the first role-playing game to hand you and a few friends a creative studio, rather than a constructed genre package.

This book presents an exploration of those first-generation texts as envisioned and redesigned by Ron Edwards, long-time Champions player, co-founder of the Forge, publisher at Adept Press, and author of diverse role-playing games. It contains all of the rules you need to create and play any hero and villain you can think of, procedures for the Now so your play-experience is a cutting edge rather than a railroad; and a nonstandard, in-depth examination of superhero comics informed by professionals and insiders.

Like the original game, this one isn’t a setting or a quantitative breakdown of a genre. It’s for your own superhero comics experience. However you want it! Silly or not silly, cool or not cool, retro or contemporary, appropriate or inappropriate, safe or edgy, relevant or not relevant. Never mind what some franchise pays for, what a fanbase demands, or what the experts pontificate about.

This is your studio. Let’s see what you make with it!

Zip file includes PDF, MOBI, and ePUB versions of the book, as well as a character sheet.

GhostDancer reacted to Jason S.Walters for an article, Champions 4th Edition Print-On-Demand
Originally published in 1989, we've converted high quality scans of the classic Champions: The Super Role Playing Game (4th edition) into a print-on-demand format on DriveThruRPG. They don't have the sharpest production quality when compared to a modern book, but they're completely legible and suitable for use by game masters and players alike.

Hello everyone! With the release of our final version of the PDF,  several Kickstarter backers have noticed some issues: in particular that there were some problems with the charts for the history of superhero roleplaying games and comic books. I have frozen the print process while Ruben corrects these issues. Additionally, one of them noticed the .mobi file does not display the title or author on their Kindle properly. It says the the wrong ISBN number and Unknown Author. We will fix that as well.

Additionally, several asked if we could set up a forum for discussion of Champions Now on the Hero Games website forums. I have done so; it is now a subforum you can access under the Champions forum in the website HERE.

Once Champions Now has printed and all backers copies have been shipped, we will be making the book available in physical form through the Hero Games website, RPG distributor Indie Press Revolution, and on Amazon. It will also be available electronically through DriveThruRPG and e23. If your FLGS would like to acquire Champions Now for their store, please have them contact Indie Press Revolution at sales@indiepressrevolution.com
