There have been fan write-ups of Robert E. Howard's Red Sonja for D&D, so here's my interpretation of the famous character of the sword and sorcery genre for Fantasy Hero. Included is the Hero Designer file, Microsoft Excel, and Microsoft Word to use, edit, and print as you see fit. Enjoy! πŸ™‚ General Notes 1) Red Sonja is a mythic level hero, so 200 points were used in the character write-up. 2) Despite wearing even less armor than Conan of Cimmeria with her iconic metal bikini, Red Sonja is seldom hit and does not suffer significant damage despite many battles, being dropped from high places, fights with monsters, and so on. I attributed that to the goddess Scathach's divine power bestowed on Red Sonja and is reflected accordingly.

That Dungeons & Dragons toy display I saw must have had a profound impact, because it inspired me to complete character write-ups with some back story under Hero System 5th Edition. Included in this WinZip file are the following: Mercion - 125 pts (Hero Designer and Microsoft Excel) Ringlerun - 200 pts (Hero Designer file, Microsoft Excel, and Microsoft Word) Teresa Lysander - 150 pts (Hero Designer file, Microsoft Excel, and Microsoft Word) - Entirely new character I created Spectral Bear (Microsoft Word only) Strongheart - 175 pts (Hero Designer file, Microsoft Excel, and Microsoft Word) Marengo, Strongheart's Destrier (Microsoft Word only) Turan, Strongheart's Bronze Dragon (Microsoft Excel and Word) Warduke - 175 pts (Hero Designer file, Microsoft Excel, and Microsoft Word) Hesperos, Warduke's Nightmare (Microsoft Word only) Kelek - 200 pts (Hero Designer file, Microsoft Excel, and Microsoft Word) Skylla - 175 pts (Hero Designer file, Microsoft Excel, and Microsoft Word) General Notes: 1) Warduke's been depicted wielding his sword with his left and right hand by various artists, so I made him ambidextrous. 2) I developed a backstory between Bronze Dragon and Nightmare and gave them names. Their adaptations are from the 5th Edition Book of Dragons and Bestiary, respectively. 3) I created Teresa Lysander as the character who raised Bronze Dragon (see his backstory), inspired by Magic: The Gathering's Keeper of the Beasts card. I also created Spectral Bears, another Magic: The Gathering adaptation. 4) I sort of went crazy on Ringlerun's spells, adapting them from various Magic: The Gathering cards that I used to play many years ago. Of note is Absorb, which combined Counterspell and Healing Salve, and Lightning Helix, which combined Lightning Bolt and Healing Salve. πŸ˜€ 5) Perks and Talents were minimally used, if at all. If used, they were added to the "Skills & Abilities" category. 6) I eliminated the Magic Skill roll requirement from previous write-ups. In the various fantasy themed books, comics, shows, and films I've read and watched, the spells pretty much happened following some incantations, gestures, etc. and I wanted to replicate that effect. Spell misfires or failures were often attributed to something else associated with the story or a character weakness that would later be addressed or be a recurring theme as part of the overall story.

There have been several fan write-ups of Robert E. Howard's Conan the Barbarian, so here's my interpretation of the famous character synonymous with the sword and sorcery genre. Some general design notes: 1) Character build is 225 points, putting Conan as an epic hero and entering superhero levels. He was featured in the Marvel Universe around 2018 fighting against and with the likes of Kraven, Spider-Man, and such, so it seemed a comparable fit. 2) Different options are listed for weapons and armor, as there have been times Conan wears leather armor, scalemail, or is just bare chested with a helmet, shield, and weapon of choice. The cinematic interpretation of Conan (Arnold Schwarzenegger) has him with an Atlantean sword, while various comics feature him with a broadsword and/or a battle axe. 3) Conan seldom suffers injury or hit, which I attribute to a combination of a high DCV for Fantasy Hero for his physical attributes and skills, toughened skin, Combat Luck, and actual Luck points. The latter two I attribute to Crom. πŸ™‚ Enjoy!

I came across a Kelek action figure on display from the Dungeons & Dragons toy series and got inspired to do a character write-up using the statistics provided on the box. I used Fantasy Hero (3rd Edition rules) with 75 points as base, 75 points of Disadvantages, and went from there. A simple three column 5th Edition HTML export template for Hero Designer. Template architecture: Uses external CSS files to handle all styling of the character sheet. Uses CSS Flex Box to handle columns and also seems to prevent text lines from being split in half when printing. Includes a standard normalize CSS external file that should make the character sheet display the same way in different browsers. HTML export file contains only the data itself and formatted into easily identifiable sections. Page breaks for new pages are handled correctly for printing. The benefit of this architecture makes modifying this template fairly easy. Add or remove sections. Change styles without modifying the HTML file. I built this as a request. Feel free to contact me in the forums if you have any question about architecture or how to modify it. - Christopher Mullins

An enemy/obstacle for any Pulp Hero or Horror Hero campaigns where the PCs are likely to do a "dungeon crawl" through the lost catacombs of Egypt or the like. Fans of the original 1986 Thundercats cartoon will recognize it as being similar to something that was found in Mumm-Ra's pyramid in one episode. Built as an Automation on 1500 points. 5th Edition write-up. Two-column layout.

  19. This may have been discussed before but, since nothing came up when I searched, here's something I've been pondering: At this point I think it's fair to say that we are not going to see 6E versions of, say, Lucha Libre Hero or Dark Champions. The economics clearly aren't in favour. In many cases, though, the parts of the 5E books requiring an update are not the bulk of the volume, so they still work as excellent sourcebooks if you don't mind doing a bit of work on the numbers. With that in mind, what about producing update PDFs for older books specifically to bring them in line with the current edition? There's no rewriting, reformatting and reprinting of the originals involved, simply a downloadable document providing updated stats etc. I can't think of an easier way to make old stock relevant again and to open up earlier material for people who aren't really in a position to rejig everything themselves. Does that sound like a reasonable idea, something worth pursuing?
  20. Hey Guys! I know some of you well enough to realize you have all of this and more... but the time has come to go from two bookshelves of HERO goodness down to one bookshelf. Growing son + small apartment is the cause... otherwise I'd find a way to hang on to these. Even if you aren't interested, please pass along the auctions to any interested parties. I've put them into Lots by edition/genre. Not looking to get rich... just creating room and hoping for funds for the holiday season! In any case, thanks for having a look! 22. I'm looking for two good 5th Edition Champions character sheets that are fillable ones with no calculations or other "aids". The first is just a standard sheet for a Champions character that is fillable The second is a stripped sheet that has zero, none, no points or multiples on the sheet. Just the end values needed for actual play. A very no frills sheet. Anyone know of any? All of the forum threads I could located were archived and the attachment links were broken. Thanks in advance

  24. Hive-Mind, I have a group of bad guys who distribute suits of leather armor as a recruitment tool. The pitch is, join us, you get this armor, you get super strong and tough, and immortal. The truth is, there is a demon bound in the armor who influences the wearer. Strength and toughness are conferred, but the wearer's psyche / soul is eventually completely subverted by the demon. Separating the armor from the wearer is typically fatal to the wearer and releases the demon to its home plane. This is easy as pie in a system where you don't really have to define anything (dnd, RoleMaster), but I'm having some trouble, and don't want to fall back to, "I'm the gM, and that's how I say it works" Is this a package deal?
  25. 5th edition fantasy, I cannot find where the rules state what happens to equipment / clothing when a character uses multiform... Can anyone help with a game-approved answer?
